After watching these two videos of you hiking the Foothills Trail, it looks like this is exactly what you needed, to get out and enjoy yourself with friends and making new ones. Hope you have a Happy New Year filled with joy and full of outdoor adventures!

This clip raises a useful point of discussion -- proper etiquette when encountering solo lady hikers on trail so that they don't feel threatened or insecure around strangers. A few months ago, I encountered several solo ladies on the JMT - great to see. In camp, we would keep our distance from their tents. We would hold conversation if around the fire ring, etc. I did have one instance when I got off the shuttle with other hikers to walk to a hotel. I overtook one of the ladies and just made small talk - after a minute or so, she stopped and said that she had to go back. it occurred to me later that she may have not wanted anyone to know where she was hoteling. Understandable. If I would have realized this at the time, I would have offered to stop for some time so that she did not have to walk extra distance as everyone is anxious to rest up after days in the back country.

Always love watching your videos. I thru hiked the AT this year and hiked over 1000 miles by myself. Very tough at times but the blessing is that I could no longer run from unresolved issues. When I had others with me I could deflect by conversing with them, but alone, I had no choice but to face those things head on. I loved hiking with my tramily as well and I missed them when they had to get off trail. The trail always gives us what we need (not always what we want lol).

I will hike it all at the end of march. Was supposed to hike it before covid but couldn't cross the border. So 2024 will be the moment. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Can't wait to hike it.

Watched all you Foothills blogs, and I agree with you it is a tough trail. I was also hiking with the Ramdino group but basically was by myself the three days of hiking. Hikers didn't seem to link up together so we ended up on our own which is not what I was looking forward to at all. I made it to Whitewater area/Sloan access parking lot early on Friday afternoon to eat with Freshground and called my wife to come pick me up. I started feeling weak and sick as I hiked towards the Whitewater Falls area. I went to the minute clinic at CVS and I have Covid! So your friend feeling sick and others doesn't surprise me at all...somehow we passed germs onto each other out there I guess. Hope everyone is okay that got sick. I will return in the Spring to do the last two days hike out to Oconee from the parking lot. Nice to meet Isuckathiking and other bloggers as well but I was too far ahead to meet you. So thanks again for the blog of our hike, you did a great job. Freshground simply rocks!!

I hiked in just after dark to mile 48.9. I saw a bunch of people, but Fresh Ground hadnt come back yet. I got picked up by my husband there. Have had foot issues since finishing the AT in Sept and the last 18 miles killed them. I live in the area, so will come back and finish the last bit of trail later. My feet are still swollen days later.

Ahhh! Greyhound, I was hoping to meet you! My husband and I came out on Saturday and met Fresh Grounds at the Whitewater parking lot. We did an out and back from there to Sloan Bridge. It was great seeing Roadrunner, Mona Leafa, Happy Thoughts and so many others. Sorry we missed you!

Have been watching you and Groceries lately and a new attempt poped up, jack and bob ross, those two are on the trail now with 1 day loading delays. It would have been so cool if you and groceries were there with them, the two of you practical and efficient alongside them bumbling their way along. They have been fun to watch, but just a missed opportunity for us to witness all of you forming a tramily, however you spell that. Not sure who is helping with some of their production artwork, that is recent

Woo hoo! Congrats on a successful thru hike! 🎉🥳 what a way to close out 2023 😊 And thank you for picking up that balloon! Personally I think they should be just outright banned from everywhere. I see them so often just hanging from trees, and it's so frustrating that I can't get to them! When they're on a lower branch, or on the ground, I pick them up and pack them out though. They are so hazardous to wildlife 😢

Hey, Julianne. Seems like when you're alone, you really kick into Roadrunner mode. Sorry you had to do so much of the trail alone, but you managed. Glad you were able to hook up with Fresh Ground. I've heard great things about him as a person and as a Trail Angel. Great way to celebrate the end of the year. Looking forward to hearing about your plans for 2024. Take care and stay safe. Wherever you go, I go with you. Thanks for taking me along.

So roughly 20 mins a mile. Nice looks like you had fun with fresh grounds. Nice 9:43 what no water fall crossing 😅 hey have ever thought about maybe doing the mountain to sea trail here in NC. There was someone that did it in 30 days. Also i noticed you haven't been seting up your camera and doing walk away shots. Like you did on the Tahoe trail. I know its a lot of extra work tho. But I just noticed it. Absolutely love your channel and you do a great job. And im a big fan

Really enjoyed your Foothills Trail videos. Thanks for that and happy new year to you. I've been thinking the Foothills Trail is one I need to take on in my near future. I got a good sense of things from your video. Very helpful. Nice to see all these familiar faces gathering there this past week. Nice. Keep on my friend. You are killing it.!!!

I've been watching your PCT hike, and today I checked out some of your older videos and found your FHT hike, which I definitely had to watch, since I also hiked it last year (eastbound in May). Did you skip the side trip to Whitewater Falls? I don't want to make you feel bad if you did, but I consider it one of the three best waterfalls I've ever seen. This was my first hike down south -- I usually hike in N.Y. and New England -- and there were several noticeable differences, the most surprising of which was the almost total lack of mud.

Wanted to say that i very much enjoy your videos. I am a AT hiker myself , did my thru in 2021 and i miss the trail every day. I have the same issues as you when it comes to hiking , finding people to hike with. Ugh ! It’s not that i can’t hike alone but i just prefer having some one on trail with me. Wish we could connect, thinking we’d hike well together. Maybe I’ll meet you someday on a trail. Till then keep hiking girl ! One step at a time , soak in that Mother Nature medicine. Be well Safe travels Edge AT 21 😎✌🏼🤍

Thanks for posting! I have to say, though, that much as I love you, this was the least useful of the many FHT vids I've watched, as far as planning for my own hike. That's b/c you gave us so little info about the trail! I am assuming you went Westbound, starting at Table Rock, but only b/c you once mentioned that people told you "it gets easier after TR"--you never told us that! And you didn't tell us which campsites you were at, and only provided minimal info about where you were, landmarks, etc. Just a note for the future. 🙂
