I really like this as not only a horror piece but also because I feel like it reflects many households with similar parent-child dynamics. To use my exoerience as an example; we are told as children, especially in religous (not all of course) households to obey our parents no matter what, otherwise it is disrespectful or shameful. Essentially making children voiceless and powerless to have open communication, and I feel like its reflected really well with the narrative aspect of Alice and Phoebe being dead while the mother tries to continue life as usual; avoiding accountability because she doesn't want to acknowledge that she is wrong in any way. Much like the adults this series parallels, their kids may as well be dead when they raise thsir children this way, because they've created an environment where they are blameless and their kids have no way of feeling that they can talk to their parents without being blamed for how they feel. And the point Baz brought up with the mother checking in on 'Alice' after she threw her in the basement is a pretty heartbreaking example of how a lot of arguments go in family dynamics like these. The emotional whiplash you get from a parent going from furious and screaming to soft-spoken and apologetic is enough to make anyone question whether or not what they just experienced was real, let alone a child. And with the mom telling 'Alice' things like 'you know I love you, right?' then the dead silence from the lifeless body, it only makes it feel more real to me. From personal experience, the themes in these videos hit really close to home, and it makes me wish more people would do more domestic horror pieces like these. Because its not just scary because the mother is living life as usual with corpses, but because it doesn't matter if they were dead in the first place. Alice was always treated like an object by her mother, and is a sad reality for more children than we realize. But hey, those were just my thoughts after watching this a second time, and noticing how close to home a lot of this was. Definitely gonna check out the creator's channel.

30:50 I never thought I'd be traumadumping on a horror youtube channel, but here I am. You're right, it definitely fucks you up like that, at least in my experience. While obviously not nearly as psychotic and criminal as Mother, up until I was almost done high school, my Mom was abusive. She's gotten far better now after lots and lots of therapy and medications, and I separate the two by thinking of my childhood mother as the "Dragon Lady" and who she is now as my Mom, it helps separate the trauma from my life and allows me to deal with it and move on in a healthy way. But I am definitely left with major self-worth and self-loathing problems that are so ingrained that they're the norm for me. In my childhood, it was either success being the status quo or failure being heavily punished, and my worth as an individual was non-existent. The physical abuse also left me with subconscious flinches whenever I'm with my girlfriend, and she unexpectedly reached towards me, which makes her sad, and it sucks. It's hard to move on from, even when it was at the severity of my case, that being far less than this animation. But it's possible. You never really lose the perfectionism though, it's just in your default programming when you grow up expected to be perfect or you were a fucking failure that needed to get out of their sight before they smack you. I think that made this duology so uncomfortable for me, especially the apology after the throw down the stairs. It fucks with your head to have that conflicting information, and leaves you so confused and lost, and you just don't know what to believe. This was a hard watch, and I doubt if you hadn't watched this and uploaded the video to let me have a "buddy" to view with, I could have been able to sit through the entire thing. Thank you, B, I am a big fan of horror, and this was one of the special ones that aren't cheap and leaves you disturbed, just by the story itself and not the monster being scary because scary monster.

Honestly, the animator did such an absolutely phenomenal job with the Mother character that I can't help but, wonder "Is everything alright?" They were able to perfectly portray these very abusive and narcissistically delusional "parents" so damn well that I can't help but, wonder and hope that they weren't writing from experience.

The animation of the faces reminds of those really early deepfakes. The uncanny way the mouths are moved around and the offset movements of the face and head. It’s absolutely such a unique, cool, and creepy animation style.

Reasonable doesn't equal justifiable. Likely she's repeating toxic behaviors from her own family. Cheating or not, she probably wouldn't have participated in healthy relationships. She's probably blaming others. Never, "I did something bad. This is my fault, my negligence. I have some blame." She blames and snaps at everyone else. So if she blames the world, she'll always find something to be unhappy about. We don't see her life before the cheating, but it's likely those abusive behaviors originated earlier on. They can't be blamed on a factor as simple as the family not being happy enough. I'm not defending David, it just seems like everyone in the family uses detrimental coping mechanisms.

Fr, I feel bad because with as much as she had done, this all started because of the whole thing with David cheating, if you think about it in a way. If they were still a happy family, then they wouldn’t have had the argument in the Alice episode, and David could’ve been with them at the diner, and either said no to Alice going with Pheobe or saved Alice when they had the chance to still. I feel sorry for Mother, despite all that happened

She blames everyone but herself. Even though bad things happened to her, she still chooses a victim mentality, making decisions that make it worse. She may not know any better, and likely she learned her toxic behaviors from her family. I feel bad for her in that respect, but she is still her own worst enemy. And the enemy of all who surround her.

​@@scp-682-cu6 this, feel bad for the person she never got to be, the person she could've been instead, but at a point there is a line crossed between reacting because of trauma and acting against others by choice, like sure, they were all once kids too but one day messed up people become adults and have accountability for their actions. We can and should all hope they learn right from wrong and improve their life, but at the point where they actively start sabotaging other peoples' lives then I lose any sympathy for them. When you're no longer the powerless one but the one in power, you should at least try to do better, this fictional character instead choose four counts of murder, uh... That's not the kinda person ya give any leeway too, that's an active threat

@@discordiacreates6669 you worded it exactly how I felt. Admittedly, I've been in a lot of therapy myself, so I'm familiar with understanding why someone is traumatized. All my family and friends (and myself) have been people with good intentions who I felt empathy for. "Hurt people hurt people". But insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting change. I refuse to choose abusive behaviors, even towards those who hurt me. It wasn't my fault I got broken, but it's still my responsibility to heal.

@scp-682-cu6 yeah this exactly, just because I was raised to harm others doesn't mean I do (purposely) or should, empathy is what's always come naturally to me so I get the why but it doesn't mean I can accept the end result. Hurt people hurt people, yeah, that's true but there's more nuance then that at play and intent is a very important factor. Unintentional harm can hopefully be rectified but intended harm is a lot harder to fix and trust, once broken, is a very hard thing to get back. It's still sad though, I wish this world never produced any broken people at all so no one is ever inclined to harm others, but we don't live in such an ideal world so we just gotta do the best we can

Oh this was really confusing. At times it reminded me of Roblox but the faces and the AI moving them was strange. And I thought the environment was 3D but when it unblurs it really does look like from The Sims. This is a fever dream.

It's Avakin Life lol, it's pretty much like The Sims actually but as a social mobile game, and from what i can see, Product uses Avakin Life as a base for everything in their videos. The faces and expressions are edited with one of those facial movement thingys and the appearances of the characters are also edited. Even most environments and animations are from Avakin. I used to be obsessed with Avakin Life years ago and played it a lot so everything looked pretty familiar and it clicked that they used Avakin to make their videos, which was crazy to me bc personally i've seen other people do stories like this with Avakin, yet Product's way was legit the most unique and creative one to me. I would've never thought of doing something like this tbh

Its quite evident by the blurs and some bit of narration that this is a recollection…and what could make it more complicated is that she has these delusions sometimes where she almost lashes out, seeing herself stab or burn. Also she may have gaps in memory or deem some matters unimportant and thus never mention them in the story… Now the question is how much of this is her? The mother herself? Or is it mothers Mother in place of mother? Maybe all the abuse we see her do is well…real but not done by mother, maybe its mothers Mother, are we sure mother even looks the way she does with a voice and strength she posseses? We have never seen mother sleep or eat, maybe she is fat unlike her Mother, who is skinny, mother was trained to be a narc, and be perfect, but perfection is subjective, so mother thinks she looks like her own Mother, acts like her, but maybe at some point mother was Alice, and at this point is where am super confused because it sort of becomes a loop, and its hard point to whats real and not. Also do remember, she somehow managed to raise her daughter for 11 years somewhat succesfully with a husband who is of kinda sound mind. Or did she, how sure are we she has been with david for 11 years?! What if she is mixing numbers? What if it was 2? Or maybe even months? That would mean thats not her own daughter, and it would make sense for her to treat it like her own, because of the abuse she went through, it would make sense for her to stress over being pregnant, because maybe her own Mother was…???? I know its crazy and crazy hard to understand, but i think this might be deeper than it is.

No one reacts to her screaming when the house is on “fire” One thing gets a bit in the way though… the missing posters… BUT it can be anybody!!!!! Maybe she just imagined it was phoebe? All of that story is just a huge delusion, vengeance, daughter fantasy. She never harmed anyone, maybe she uses crack or whatever other drug makes you crazy like that? Heres the thing, she never meant to let Phoebe go. She served her breakfast just before the bus arrived. She was the one to wake and bathe her which means she was managing time in order to make her miss the bus but i think this might have happened subconsciously. I dont think she meant to kill her. I just think she meant to find cause for further imprisonment. Her mind broke so she was deluding herself and the pieces got stomped on when she realized she killed another girl.

It is so sad how she is such an unreliable point of view. I think "Mother" is actually his wife, and they had a daughter together. The Parents had been having trouble in the marriage. "Mother" seems to be having some mental health troubles, like trouble with intrusive thoughts, and issues sleeping. Her devotion to Alice is very obvious, but afraid to let Alice have more freedom. Alice's friend seems to have a very uninvolved family. The Mom is too far into a delusional denial of the severity of Alice's injuries, but final nail in her full mental break is the second she realized Alice was dead.

This is hands down the HARDEST thing to watch. Not dissing on the creator, as with almost nine billion people on this blue marble we call home, there has got to be a situation out there that is akin to this one. When I watch Hunter's videos, sometimes I'm thinking "How do you come up with this?" In the case of this animation, "HOW THE HECK DO YOU COME UP WITH THIS STUFF MAN?!" The best horror are the tragedies that could realistically take place in our own world. Good freakin' lord.

Let me give a brief explanation for the start: The older woman, who is David’s wife, is pretending to be his mother to see how Alice would react. Alice then realizes when they flip through the scrapbook, that David’s “mother” is actually his wife, if I am wrong though then that is incest 😅.

This story has too many holes to be fully enjoyable. It's been multiple months since 2 young girls went missing both with their last known location at this house (since alice was her daugther and she called pheobes mom for the sleepover) and nobody came looking for them? The neighbors have been killed and are rotting in their house and no one noticed? Not a single police officer came by and thought something might be a little off here?

Dirty Donna is my second favorite story of Product's and the one i discovered them with! If you liked Mother and Alice, i feel like you would like Dirty Donna too, which isn't as dark or tragic, but it's really good and it caught me pretty off guard personally
