The river is the Nilwala Ganga, Matara. Very beautiful area. I have been watching you from your first visit to Sri Lanka because the place you are visiting now is where my family home is, and yes we were right by the crocodiles! I miss it a lot. The boat with the rope is a very old ferry point, I think it is called Nupe ferry. So good that you are promoting the country it has so much to offer, such a variety of things to enjoy, and the people are so welcoming and make some of the best food anywhere!

Hello Davud, it’s so lovely to see your generosity. Thanks so much for your kindness. I noted a couple of misinformation lost in translation. For example the uncle at the ferry said he can transport up to ten people per time as the captain asked how many can go at one time. So he doesn’t always make 500 rupees a day. As you said English wasn’t that great hence the misinformation but he seems like a genuine guy to me .Secondly the farmer said there are seven families that lives in that area and it was translated as 16 houses. Just so you know. Nilwala River has always been very famous for salt water crocs and there are famous songs about it too. Lot of lives lost long time ago when people bathed and used the river those days. I think not so much in the last decades. Polhena beach in Matara is very popular amongst locals. There are secluded coves found there too. Enjoy your recent visit . As I was watching the donation vlog for disabled kids this also came to my feed.
