I was camping in Ljubiana with a friend in summer 1969, we had a small radio and were listening to Armstrong and Aldrin going down to the moon !
@WorldTowning7 жыл бұрын
Wow. Now that is a real memory. I still carry those "Where were you" memories from where I heard that the Space Shuttle challenger exploded and when 911 happened. But the memory of hearing when a man first walked on the moon and being in a campground in LJ, that is something else.

Couldn't agree with you more. Slovenia IS the most underrated country in Europe. Slovenians often told us that when God finished creating the world, he then went and perfected it in Slovenia. So much beauty in such a small space is unbelievable.
@WorldTowning7 жыл бұрын
I totally believe it. We were excited to get there to explore the beauty, but when we go there, we thought that there could be no place better. The fact that we were there in low season may have had a lot to do with it, but no matter what, we loved it.
@AdventureEverywhere7 жыл бұрын
We lived about 2 hours from Slovenia during the first half of the year, including making a Summer visit, and we can vouch for how relatively "undiscovered" it is among tourists...still.

I spent 10 days in Lake Bled. I loved it. It was summer, though. We went rowing and swimming in the lake. Also went to Ljubljana, Piran (swimming in the Adriatic), the caves(!) and the Gorge. Beautiful country! I'd love to go back.

A week in Bled? That is amazing. We wished that we could have had more time to experience Slovenia. We were tight on time as we had to meet up with family in Venice and could not miss that. We do want to return and do Slovenia better.

yes yes yes I want to go to Slovenia and Lake Bled so bad.. I 've seen so many pictures from there in both sun, mist, rain, fall and winter.. I bet it's gorgeous all year round:) Glad you made fun memories despite the rain:) Maria

Slovenia is definitely on my list! I've heard so much about Lake Bled, but I've never heard about the Gorge. Maybe in the next couple of years I can check them out :-)

If it did not get so cold there, we would have stayed longer. To be honest, we are saying that about almost everywhere we have been to so far. It should be on your list. it is amazing and really affordable.

This made me miss Slovenia SO MUCH. I've finally got some internet to catch up on your vids. Sorry about the rain but you guys are troopers. When we went to Bohinj, it was rain and walking on ICE! Hope you make another one of Ljubljana and that you had a great time there. Cat cafe? It was one of our favorites and they have AMAZING hot chocolate. Also, stopping by the Little Puffy Pancakes stand downtown and just all the wonderful Slovenian people. Great vid as always- Henry

You are all so cute, trying not to complain about the rain while lamenting about trying not to complain ... Good on you for going through with the tour with good spirits despite being cold and soaked, I feel for you. Love your videos, you're a wonderful family, thanks so much for sharing your journey of Europe :)
@WorldTowning7 жыл бұрын
We had a blast on our tour. Quite frankly, that is due to two reasons. 1 - We were excited to se the area that we heard so much about and 2 - Our tour guide was amazing. The rain was a nuisance, but whatever, we loved every minute of it. Thanks for watching.

I love Slovenia! I’m Canadian but my parents are from the Southern part of Slovenia. I used to spend my summers there. It’s too bad that the weather wasn’t better for you. You’ll have to visit in the summer so you can go to the beaches.

Anita - We are so madly in love with Slovenia. We love France as it was our home for almost a year, but we sit back and wonder how amazing of an experience it would be to live in Slovenia for a year. It offers so much. We know that we have to go back one day. maybe this fall. The summer is already planned.

We've started our rv Europe tour and were just in Slovenia a few weeks ago!! We went to lake bled on a sunny day but didn't stay long because it was soooo busy. Instead we went down to Bocec in the Soca value (10/10 would recommend) stayed there and then it started to rain!! So we went postojna. Like you said so much rain so we spent most of our time running away from the rain but Slovenia is the most underrated countries in Europe!
@WorldTowning6 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I truly hope we get to visit again one day, when it is not raining. Ha. I hear the hiking is bonkers awesome! Glad you enjoyed it.

if you ever come back I would recomend to got to the North-East part. So Maribor and towards the Hungarian - Croatian border. You also have a threepoint (we call it a threepoint) it's where you can see where Slovenia, Austria and Hungary come together. Also it's great for bikerides and great wine and food. When it rains we usually go to a thermalspa baths which are very popular and super warm ;) there are quite a lot to choose from

So fun! Thank you for sharing and making it possible even in the rain. Some of our best days have been in the rain because of the reason you noted: not everyone will tour in the rain. It seems like your guide was great, too, so all in all - thumbs up. That gorge: Amazing (though this is possible in places in Austria and Germany, too. Plan for your next Northern trip to hit this:www.saechsische-schweiz.de/en/ ; the Bastei Bridge in Germany is one of the most amazing places we have traveled and easily accessible by RV - plus lots in the region (well, the place itself seems in the middle of nowhere!! but there is fun all around within 30 kms).
@WorldTowning7 жыл бұрын
Eric, thanks for the suggestion in Germany. We will be back in Germany and Austria next year, around summer time. What we are finding out is that we not seeing close to as much as we want to. We often think about what it would be like to want to see and do less, and then we quickly jump to the next thing on journey. You only live once...

We do have heat, but we do not like to be trapped inside. There is only one answer, head to warmer weather. Southern Spain is where we are heading to, but there is a lot to see between here and there.

I've never been to Slovenia but I really want to some day, as it's a beautiful place. Lake Bled is basically their Eiffel Tower or leaning tower, or Statue of Liberty etc. It's what every tourists posts pictures of on Reddit etc. :) Apparently (according to what others say) the only bad thing about it is how crowded it can get during high season. :P Even though I haven't been there, it does indeed seem like an underrated destination for tourists. It's not that tourists don't rate it *highly* I think but that they don't rate it at all. It doesn't seem like it even crosses the mind of most people that they could go to Slovenia. A lot of people probably don't know a thing about the place at all.
@WorldTowning7 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. It was on our original list, because everything is on our list, but we had no expectations. The we started reading about it and got really excited. It should be on everyone's list as it offers so much and is so much more affordable then a lot of it's western neighbors.

I know that we did not do enough on one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. That is the problem with our travel life. Since we work and educate our kids while we travel, it does not always allow us the opportunity to see all that there is to see. We do want to go back to Slovenia to dig a little deeper. Next time...
