The ride should be a rollercoaster mimicking the decent into Yzmas lair where you hear "pull the lever kronk!!" and then you hear a distant "wrong lever!" and start to slowly go backwards before you here a "Why do we even have that lever?" before you launch forward and go on the rollercoaster that Yzma built to get into her lair.

Ben, I agree. Emperor's New Groove should be a classic. It's got the art (which is fantastic), the music (fabulous), the diverse and hilarious characters (seriously, who doesn't quote this movie to this day?), and the heartwarming storyline. I love this movie.

This has ALWAYS been my fav film. Kronk is the perfect example of how to write a funny, silly, more-than-slightly stupid-but-well-meaning character/characters sidekick. My favourite movie quote is literally, "Squeakity Squeak Squeaken" 🐿

I remember watching this on theaters with my dad and at the time I didn't think much of it, but dad enjoyed it (which is saying a lot cause he's the kind that ALWAYS falls asleep on threaters)and he would say stuff like "I think I enjoyed it more than my child did" haha. Years later I saw it on disney channel though, and I loved it! Kuzco is my favorite disney princess.

Honestly, this movie was EXTREMELY popular when I was a kid, so hearing him say that this is an "underrated" movie is more of a shock to me. I don't think (or at least I don't remember) a single kid that I knew that didn't watch the movie and love it.

Unpopular opinion here, Disney is trying to distance itself from Song of the South, no one this generation will know who the characters are, so why keep Splash Mountain? Re-skin it and turn it into an Emporor's New Groove ride, it could become Kuzcotopia, and when you fall down the waterfall you hear Yzma shouting "Wrong lever!!"

I've just watched The Emperor's New Groove for the first time in at least 10 years (now that my dad finally bought a Blu-Ray/DVD copy of it; I grew up with a VHS copy, and we haven't had a VCR in at least 10 years), and I'll say that even though I can quote whole scenes from this movie, it doesn't get old, and it's just as funny today as it was when I was 8, almost 18 years ago.

We have managed to get some of the other classics on DVD now, but that one has thus far been elusive. I may need to buy it online... I am not an online shopper...

it was mayan, it had mayan names, mayan architecture, mayan style and religion (like Xibalba) Americans often confuse them both and tend to think human sacrifices was also a mayan thing so they depict Mayans performing sacrifices. also they tend to misplace the Mayans on the timeline and tend to depict big thriving cities by the time of the Spanish arrival. (althouhg in this case the city is supposed to be secret, so the time period is somewhat justified) El dorado basically suffers from the very same problems as Apocalypto. Source: Im Mexican

What I think happened was mixing of Mayan and Aztec concepts. Cortez interacted with the Aztecs, not the Mayans, since their civilization had actually collapsed by the time the Spaniards made it to America. So they should be Aztecs, but are shown as Mayans.

I had an animation professor who worked on the key frames for Llama Kuzco. He also had to pick up the slack of the people who worked on the in-betweens because they didn't know how to properly animate llama fur.

The reason I love this movie is the rejection that happiness is based on wealth and status. (Looking at you Cinderella) The happiest person is Pasha, with his snarky wife and ancestral family home. Cusco doesn't know the satisfaction he is missing by being self absorbed.

I first saw "The Emperor's New Groove" in high school. The art teacher often let us watch movies while we worked. Some of the other students often complained about my nitpicking commentaries about how things made no sense or could be made better. For this movie that usually meant I would say the same thing Kronk would say a second later. The writers of this film and I just happened to think exactly alike.

they redid Its A Small World to include Disney characters. there's Alice in England, Lilo in Hawaii, Aladdin in Saudi Arabia, ect. but no Kuzco. like they have an ancient central america section, but no Kuzco. it would've been so simple to just put a Kuzco doll lounging on a throne at the top of their Incan/Mayan temple. but nope. nothing. ridiculous

This is my favorite movie of all time! I am so glad you are giving it the recognition it deserves! Also, I wish they did more for young men (or at least less feminine girls) in the franchises. For instance, I know so many men my age that have never seen a Disney movie until they had kids because they were taught that Disney was "too girly." 1- wooowwwww, way to teach your son toxic masculinity.... 2- Hunchback, Emperor, Aladdin, Rescuers, Hercules, Lion King, Sword in the Stone, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Fox and the Hound, but need I really go on?
