For those of you put off, this game DOES have an ending. The DLC covers events that happen after the main game, and contains answers that you may have in the base game. It's not like Asura's Wrath where the game literally requires you to get the DLC to play the final chapter.

on that note, it would be terrible if that had been the case, cuz the dlc took 2 years to come out lol (said dlc even quite nicely refers to itself as the post game lol. Now i understand why you said this. Mostly because to me the main ending was perfectly natural. Main quest complete, go home everybody. I guess im also more used to getting.. basically a single or multiple cutscenes to be the postgame. *shrug* DLC does tie up alot of nice ends though)

I like your review style of having a conversation about a game casually and genuinely instead having to sound all professional and technical. This is an appealing way to listen to information about a game, so bravo you.

CrossCode is absolutely one of my favorite games and I can't recommend it enough. It's such a unique experience and all the characters are near and dear to my heart now. Also took me about 64 hours to beat, without the DLC back then. For everyone interested in trying it out, now is the best time to do so, since the game has just received it's last actual content patch. I also don't think that the DLC is a problem, since you can just buy the complete pack for 25€, which is an actual steal for the amount of content in this game :)

Currently playing through CrossCode for the fifth time and I can't possibly put into words how awesome this game is. CrossCode became my favourite game of all time because no other could ever give such an awesome experience. I recommend for anybody who thinks the gameplay in the video looks fun to buy this game. It's definitely worth it. And the game's only 20 Dollars!

I did this one as my one year anniversary review; funny thing is I picked it up in a bundle where I didn't even really notice it at first, eventually looked at the store page and gave it a try. Absolutely blown away- even trying to keep my review "short", I still talked on about the game for over half an hour.

Agreed this is an amazing game. I got it on PC awhile back and picked it up again when it released on Switch to have a physical copy. Considering the quality you get for the price, I had absolutely no problem supporting the dev and grabbing it twice.

tip for those struggling with the platforming, its nto a perfect solution but if you aim then the trajectory will bounce off something if its above your height level, or show a shadow of the trajectory if you are higher that will give an idea of where to proceed. I think the other main complaint I hear about the game is the crafting/trading system, personally I really loved the gameplay loop of filling plant and animal encyclopedieas to learn where to farm certain resources but its definitely overwhelming if you dont take the time to learn it and could do with better tracking like being able to select a recipe and set a personal quest that maybe directs you to where you find those resources. though you can look at all the traders you have spoken with in the menu and see their recipes its not the best system.

yessssss! normally I would never bother with finding all the chests, solving all the puzzles. But crosscode made me do it. Why? It was fun. Challenging. Different. Rewarding. There's nothing better than exploring a new area, seeing a puzzle and tracing back, then solving. Some of those last ones were particularly challenging, but oh SO rewarding. Especially the DLC - now that was insane (so much fun though). And all the characters are so well written. APollo, emilie and Lea are definitely my favourite trio, I just love the petty back and forth between them. I also played this game on my MacBook air (early 2015, don't judge - broke college student I would get a PC if I could afford one). It ran super smooth, no problems at all. I just don't know how they do it. 3:00 oh my god this puzzle is what nightmares are made of. I can't even begin to tell you how many tries it took me.

2:03 about glitches, there's actually one glitch, the Jump Attack Dash Cancel, that became so well known in the community that it got mentioned in the game. If you take the side quest from the hacker on the balcony of the Sapphire Inn ridge, that's what she means by JADC, the long jump that she uses to skip the whole puzzle

I was still learning about intended mechanics on the steps leading to the dlc dungeons final boss. And then every time I see a stream or playthrough they discover some interaction or mechanic I never even thought about. I have over 100 hours in this game, it's got me fucked up how much there is.

Oh my god. Get ready for a story. So a buddy was stresming the steam version back in 2018 and from the moment I saw the game, I knew I haaaad to play it someday and that it was already one of my all-time favorites! Originally there was talk about how the devs couldn't port it to Switch (the only thing I game on) and so years went by with no further mention. Then out of the blue, a Switch version was announced and I was completely blown away!! There was no further word after that announcement but then eventually StrictlyLimitedGames tweeted they were doing a physical. I pre-ordered the CE the moment it was available and it of course took quite some time to be manufactured and shipped. I finally started CC in January of 2021 and I sat for a long while just on the title screen reminiscing. Finally jumped in and playing it myself was a whole other experience. Thankfully I had not watched my friend stream too much so most of the game was still a surprise. I wrapped up the base game after s little while and loved every moment! The puzzles are in a league of their own. Eventually to dlc came out and I ripped through that right away! I also tracked down a vinyl ost because the music here is some of the best I've ever heard in a game. Literally everything about the game made for one of the best experiences ever and I cannot love CC enough! Fantastic hearing your thoughts, thanks for the video!

Ive always seen this game out and about when browsing games on the digital stores but i never gave it the light of day. Everything you've said about it makes me want to check it out though. I had no idea this game was packing so much content, and though im not really sure if the gameplay will click with me im already finding the art style and characters charming from the little bit seen here. When ive got an open slot for an RPG ill definitely give it a go.

Oh yeah, dash canceling is a thing in crossworlds and crosscode. Somehow? Usually animation canceling glitches are only done with 3D objects, yet you can cancel most actions. Most notably, Cancel the jump animation by blocking or attacking, then dashing for a much bigger jump. (probably about 1.25* longer)

The fact that it's not local Co op is a major flaw, also keeping it from being a masterpiece is all the puzzles. More action, less puzzles. Action is fun, puzzles are not, playing with a friend is fun too but they won't let you do it

I actually didn't know about the DLC block since when I first got the game I heard it was really good so I bought it with the DLC before starting. After you progress to the DLC bit the game plays a cutscene that would make sense for the end of the game and then after the cutscene it turns into the regular DLC. I assumed that without the DLC the cutscene would play and the game would end there.

Oh boy, i, just like most of players according to GOG, cant understand what is good about this game, sadly. Yes, its starts nice. Even cute, visually its very beautiful, OST is nice, character drawn nicely and you all set for having good time. And for early part its really enjoyable. Early sign of that will be later is game sending boos at you just after start, but thats...OK, fine. Autum Rise is pleasant, quests can be tricky but OK. Parkour maybe annoying due elevation puzzles incompatible with isometric view, but developers think its right way to design them this way. First dungeon is rather good, its little challenging but not overwhelming, both i combat and puzzles. And then...Maroon hits the fan. Parkour becomes VERY unobvious, puzzles in dungeon get insanely tedious and annoying. Some of them clever, yes, but most is gives just "goddamn, when this crap will end already". Logical puzzles is fine, but who decided combining platforming and time limited puzzles is fun? Goddamn bubbles and ricochet (which demands absolute precision, ofc) is driving everyone nuts. When game starts to throw hordes of enemies at you and finally boss which can kill you in seconds! And for most pleasure you have to attack in by shooting at pole instead of normal targeting. Game constantly forces you play not like you want, but like developer wants. You cannot even reconfigure controls. You cannot fight way you like, all you can do is try different "special moves".. So, what you do? OFC you start to crank down difficulty setting right to minimum point to just goddamn be able to play it. At least for boss fights. Maybe i really suck at it, or maybe i didnt selected right ammunition or maybe i configured goddamn circuits wrong way, but by finishing second dungeon i had no real desire to play anymore. Developers went overboard. The maxed everything to point of "no fun". Homage to SNES and RPGS? Yeah, rright. And if you actually read reviews you will find same complaints, poor controls, overwhelming annoying puzzles (many with time limits) and difficulty maxed out just because. Crosscode is not challenging. Its annoying in every way possible. Calling bad design choices and poor controls (like precise platforming with sticks) as challenge and increasing difficulty just to hide repetitiveness is that Crosscode about.
@apoxfox
@apoxfox 2 жыл бұрын
I can totally understand where you are coming from, the tedious puzzles aren't for everyone but they are actually my favorite part about the game. It's been 8 months since I made this video so I can't remember if I said anything like that, but 8 months later and it's still easily in my top 3 games of all time. Either way, what you're saying is totally valid and maybe if I wasn't so obsessed with puzzle solving I would feel the same way.
@Vednier

@@apoxfox Well, you know, its not like i just hate puzzles. For example i played TRI and its features complex 3-dimentional puzzles with walking on walls. And it was FINE. I played Fez and their puzzles wasnt very easy either and they too was fine for most parts. But somehow i just cant cope with Crosscode, because their developers dont have any sense of balance. Honestly, looking back i think maybe i was little too harsh about puzzles and just didnt give some of them enough thinking (after watching some youtube walkthrough its turned i managed to solve several puzzles in completely wrong, unintended way). BUT they still too many and all this dont change fact, for example, that controls often sucks. Complex platform jumping with inaccurate sticks. Accurate sequential shooting with sticks, yeah, your thumb moved by several degrees and your projectile fly completely wrong way. On PC you can occasionally switch to keyboard, at least. Parkour puzzles spanning across multiple screens. Some times i was just not attentive enough and on watching youtube runs is it was just "faceplam, how i missed that ledge?" but some other secrets was just abandoned by other players, because they dont see solution too. Interestingly, in Autumn Fall parkour suddenly gets way less hard, just like this areas was designed by somebody else. Oh well, i just complain now. I do want to like Crosscode, i think design team made awesome work. But final result is... Finally, i do understand that there is peoples enjoying Crosscode and understand why they do. Maybe some other time i replay it from scratch, better prepared and like it too, but for many peoples this game turned to be not that they was promised and expected.
