The mix of unreal poverty and unreal talent there reminds me a little of Brazil. If I had a major skate company, I wouldn't be looking at Brazil or Japan for the next prodigies. I'd be going right there to Cebu, Philippines. Their street cred marketability would be insane, kinda like DGK. They could basically be the next Brazil for tapping new skate talent, and just imagine how much some real skate money would do for these kids and their community. They need to be on somebody's radar in the skate industry. Keep promoting that awareness Skate Nomad!

What I love the most about Renz, Boy and JM is that they post pure skate clips on social media and let their skating do the talking. But there’s plenty of other skaters that have the potential to be amazing but they are too focused on their “image”, posting the same tricks repeatedly and not really learning/progressing. The Filipino skate scene is amazing but at the same time there’s a few gatekeepers not allowing skaters to progress or take up sponsorship from other brands. And lastly, there’s a few skaters that are convinced they are the next big thing…..but nowhere as good as the Cebu crew.

Spot was supposedly a convention center and was funded by the government. Unfortunately because of substandard build due to alleged corruption, it never served its real purpose. It is now home to people whose houses nearby were burned down a couple years ago. The government plans to repurpose the structure and sadly we might lose the spot in the near future. This kid never misses! There actually is a skatepark in Cebu in lapulapu with a bowl that’s filled with mosquito water and trash. It’s messed up. I went once to try and get everyone t-help clean it up but they’d rather do flip tricks in the parking lot. The corrupt politicians here prevent a lot of stuff like even sidewalks from getting built let alone a proper skatepark. Hoping to change this!

These kids are insane and definitely need a legit skatepark. I live in Niagara Falls NY and Tony Hawk's company (the one that donates $ to skate parks) donated 10k to help build the skatepark in the falls. Why couldn't he work w the Phillipines or wherever this is government to help build a skatepark in these less fortunate places. I mean he may still be worried about the less fortunate places in our own country of America still idk. But he could definitely help these kids reach their full potential.
