Dong Dong Never Die 2023 was actually released by the hardcore Chinese community (specifically lilihao), it and Judgment Day actually released at a similar time (if not the same week) by pure coincedence. Its a pretty neat contrast to Judgment Day.

I don’t have any insider info or anything, but I’ve always assumed that some of Akshon’s staff is Chinese Canadian (or some other type of East Asian Canadian), because their channel had at least one early collaboration with a pretty small Vancouver brand, and because (to my ears) I think their presenter speaks with what I’ve always affectionately thought of as “the Richmond accent.”

Also, his super is apparently the "Hokuto Hundred Crack Fist" just like Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. Go to 15:14 and that's the name of the technique sprawled across the screen in Chinese

Translation of the names Shen Hua Lang = Bio Hazard Male Dong Dong = East East (but mostly a name that sounds like a nickname) Ming Boy = Yup as translated as "Ming boy" but it basically like "Ming" is pretty common name in schoolbook, sorta like "John Smith" Gouki = Obviously tribute to Gouki/Akuma from Street Fighter Jiang Ci Lang = His name has two pun. His name is basically translation of "Kenshiro" 健次郎 from Fist of the North Star in the first 1980 translated edition (In 1998 rerelease it was changed to "拳四郎" same phonetic different way of writing), another pun of his name 健次郎 also mean "Construction man" since "健" also mean "construction" and "building" Jie Jie = Has no meaning, just sounds like a nickname Sun Wukong = Pretty self explanatory nowadays after Black Myth, but the original Chinese name version of "Son Goku" from Dragon Ball Jie Mei Hua = Flowery Sisters, basically an euphemism for "Lesbians" in Chinese or just two girls who are pretty close like Sisters. Ken = There is different way of writing "Ken" in Chinese due to alot of similar phonetic sounds, but in Mandarin "肯" sounds little bit like "Ken", but in Cantonese dialect, "肯" would sound silly since it would sound "Hang" instead of "Ken" Huo Chai Ren = Match Stick Man Violent Dong Dong = Self explanatory Mario =Yup, to any Italians here who have the name Mario, this is really how you write your name in Chinese as "马里奥" (In Traditional writing it is 馬裡奧), Also it sounds like this "Mah Lei Ooh"

Dong Dong Never Die is basically the result if you put Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, The King of Fighters, Terminator 2 and copious amount of other popular culture references into a blender. And tbh I found myself had a lot of fun with this game thanks to its sheer silliness and insane gameplay even though it was never meant to be a good game.
