In 2000 I landed and electrical engineering job at Fishman, when we co-owned Parker guitars, so it's a major blast from the past to see what you've got. I did the preamp circuit design for the Parker Acoustic guitar, so it blew me away that you had one! I used to have a Midiaxe version of the Nitefly, and the feel of those necks is super robust. There is a Nitefly in the prototype "junkpile" at work, I've been eyeing for a rebuild. All the best! John

@@Illegal-Swede negotiate my friend! I was half joking but man u must have some really cool stories! I'm a parker nut, and to me the pre revised niteflys are the pinnacle. The fly is the coolest guitar ever built but completely impractical these days. Can't upgrade the pickups, repairs are a nightmare if even possible. But I have several niteflys and they are the greatest guitars I've ever played or owned. Least factory produced😊 Meeting Ken would be a the coolest!

Hey Andre, very interesting collection! In regards to your custom guitar: my favourite "genre" of youtube videos are what you could call "learning journeys" (tough to put a name on it!) where the content creator sets himself a goal (for example working out a set of indian classical music fit for public performance) and then we get a kind of practice/creation log over a period of time (most often done over a series of videos) working towards that goal. Basically we get taken along for the ride and get to see the good, the bad and the ugly including all the reflection on progress or setbacks, the potential shifting of goals etc. One example that comes to my mind is the series of videos on learning touch guitar by the drum youtuber @ShawnCrowder but there are many examples that I don't quite have at hand right now. I think that style of content would be a great fit for you since you are so reflected and have obviously put a lot of thought into the mechanics of learning/teaching and self-development. Also this way you could potentially "content-ify" the work that you want to do anyway (spending time with your custom guitar). It's just an idea of course, keep up the good work! :)

Your note about locking tuners rings SO true to me. I have a USA EVH Wolfgang signature that, I personally think, is really great. But, it would be almost perfect if it had locking tuners. Restringing is already a pain because it has a Floyd, so it would make it SO much easier to restring.

I just laughed at the amount of complexity in the Chris Allen guitar and thought the Chef's Kiss was that you can jack out into three separate amps, lol. I knew you had a Phd, studied Indian Music-Degree, and totally expect you to have a very niche collection that thoughtfully evolves with your economic power-OR- for your niche collection to totally stymie your economic power and ruin you. Glad to see you have that super custom Allen guitar, because that suggests the universe somewhat works right. The other stuff is cool and mostly none of it is uncontrolled value buy-GAS. Keep on walking that tightrope between art, intellectual and emotional satisfaction, and financial ruin, Doc. GG.

Good Luck pursuing your new life direction. 🤘 Years ago I used to hang occasionally with a band called PSI out of Wheaton, MD. Tosin played in the band. He told me back then he would practice 8 hours a day! Fast forward close to 10 years later I was doing event security for most of the DC Music Venues. I worked the Animals As Leaders show. I talked to Tosin briefly. Was reminiscing about a field show they(PSI) played where the Police shut down. BTW, I could organize the hell out of your place. I live to organize. You need to build a 2 level rack for all the guitars. Would take a half a wall. Also you can store the boxes flat and tuck behind a water heater.

Thank you, Dr. Fludd, another brilliant video! I lust after your new number 1, AND the sTele (Klein is such a brilliant luthier it saddens he didn't make it easy to adjust the neck), AND the "Fat Boy" (of course!). I appreciate your mini-tour of guitars as well as the "storage dilemma!" I also appreciate your honsty and natural humor - although long-retired, I always felt that mandatory meetings only irritated the work-force and (almost deliberately) got squarely in the way of production! I agree with you (and informed management in no uncertain terms) that the information could have been passed more efficiently by electonic mail, and before that by official letter. Finally, I agree with you that the Carvin Holdsworth begs a "shoot-out" comparison video. Someone please loan your "whammy" Holdsworth to Dr. Fludd for an epic comparison!

Speaking of short lived metal bands featuring stellar players, Tosin Abasi was in a band called Reflux and it was off the rails in a good way (from what footage exists). Be cool for him to pick it back up as a side project and throw some more just straight up in your face don't think about it metal out, even if it's just remastered/upgraded old tunes. He can vibe hard and fast with the best of them but like artists such as Devin Townsend most people haven't witnessed his capability for high quality extreme metal that lies in the past, laying dormant, waiting to be unleashed or remain forever muted.

Wow, nice collection. I feel a little bit better about my guitar hoarding and all the boxes in my garage. I've been thinning the herd in recent months, so I'm down to about 15 quality guitars. Needed to expand some of my other gear, so I've been trading with Guitar Center and getting deep discounts on new gear to curb the losses. Just didn't have the patience to deal with Reverb. I decided to let the Core Silver Sky and a few amps go in the last trade to pick up a decent digital piano for my studies. Next task is to finish cutting up some of those boxes, and reclaim that bay in the garage. Maybe when the temps drop outside.

Ahoy Andre! I discovered your channel while going through a bit of a rut where I've been playing for 16 years but all I pull off are a few simple chords and a few simple leads. I know 39$ for your lessons aren't going to contribute that much towards your regular purchases, but I hope they contribute quite a bit more to my own re-learning of the guitar! I've a suggestion for you w.r.t the cheaper guitars like your 199$ Strat (Squier Sonic?) - either buy them used and try to fix 'em up yourself using basic tools, or visit a store in-person and see what plays the best there. These guitars tend to have poor QC issues so there'll be a lot of gems and a lot of duds in every batch. It'll be good for wannabe players who don't know WHAT to look for in their first instrument to be walked through by a seasoned guitarist. Or even better, take someone from your city shopping for their first guitar (on Reverb, at a local guitar store, or both?) and videograph that!

In my case, I’ve modified all of them, to one degree or another, so some I’ve more $ invested in them than the initial $1000. It’s been a fun journey, and yes, it’s very hard to play 12 guitars and a bass😄😄 with any regularity.

One thing you should know about the Carvin Holdsworth guitar is that the 20-inch fretboard radius is somewhat rendered moot by the tune-o-matic bridge, which is set to a 12-inch radius. This was something that really annoyed Allan - that and the fact that these guitars were neck heavy. The headless designs are much better, in my opinion, but if you decide to pick one up used, make sure it was built AFTER the transition from Carvin to Kiesel. The older Carvin versions have the terrible JCustom bridges. The newer Kiesel models have the Hipshot trems, which are a huge improvement.

Hey, weird question: Is it possible to request a review of a guitar? TL;DR: Pretty please, can you review the Guthrie Govan signature Charvel? I own a Gibson, and I'm really feeling the limitations of the Les Paul design, so I'm in the process of looking for a replacement, something like a super-strat. I've looked at a bunch of different designs and brands, but the one I'm currently _most_ interested in is the Guthrie Govan signature Charvel. My initial logic was "Hey, if it's good enough for Guthrie, it's not gonna be the guitar that's holding me back", but I don't actually know if that's true. I've looked for people giving their opinions on the guitar, but _all_ the *"reviews"* are essentially just "Hey, here are all the features, now buy it from us". I've seen a decent number of your videos at this point, and I absolutely _LOVE_ how thorough you are in your long-term reviews. Sooooo can you review it? Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with.... what do you americans say.... blueberries on top? Melons? What ever.... I've come to really respect and value your opinion on this, and your input would be really helpful. Thanks 😊 CHERRIES! Cherries on top!

The custom looked something AI generates when you ask it to come up with a futuristic guitar (vaguely but not fully understanding the features of a guitar). I'd have no idea what to do with it, but the wiring, the ergonomics, the whole package looks very well made.

15:40 this is something I think about too. I have five guitars, 2 amps, hx stomp, and a moderate board + 5 or 6 stray pedals and space / maintenance already sucks. I’m more of a hobbyist these days so there’s something to be said for just getting the endgame of what I like. Seriously considering selling up for an axe fx + Aristides instead!

Bro, I did not realize that those inlays on your Parker fly you did yourself? I love that. I always thought they were like Jason Becker but I didn’t know if they were stock on that guitar. You should talk about how you did those inlays in the video if you haven’t already, maybe I missed it.

Also, I feel you on having only less than 5 core guitars. That’s kind of where I’m at right now and I just keep buying and selling stuff and I’ve only really kept two of my guitars on the long term I just get bored easily unless I really really love an instrument.
