Ofc he does. He's just acting tough and cold to protect himself. This entire act he has is just that, an act. He knows that seeing this for what it really is then he'd lose it. He's also scared for himself which is why he distances himself from others. But he does care about everyone that has died and is there with him. heres something that will make Jay even sadder about alter egos execution- When Kirigiri was talking to alter ego he said "That tickles" which meant that alter ego could actually feel stuff physically which meant he could in fact feel the pain from his execution physically.
