I have owned an XD40 for 21 years, they are the most reliable of the polymer strikers. Like SPN said, his stock XD9 has over 14,000 perfect rounds through it.

My first gun was an XD45 with an XD9 subcompact soon to follow that. I've gotten so much hate from my Glock friends (all playful jokes) but I haven't had a single failure yet of both of them. At the end of the day, you want something that will fire when you most need it. Have fun and train often!

My most reliable gun… Beretta 92FS… competition gun and I’ve shot 60,000+ rounds through it since 1991. Next is my Gen 3 Glock 17…. 34,000 rounds and still going. Only changed out the factory captured guide rod. … it didn’t break, I just changed it for overall maintenance.

I own both of those as well and don't have anywhere near as many rounds through them even combined compared to yours. That's very nice. Have you had to replace any parts such as strikers or recoil springs?
@colt10mmsecurity68
@colt10mmsecurity68 8 ай бұрын
@@john4K47 Yes the recoil spring on my beretta is changed every 6,000 rounds whether it needs it or not. The trigger return spring has broke on me a few times, but it’s a 30 second fix. I usually change it out at the same time I change the recoil spring. At around the 30,000 mark, I changed out literally every spring, extractor, firing pin and locking block BEFORE they broke. The barrel was replaced at the 40,000 round count for good measure. While well worn, It was still hitting bullseyes but a new factory drop in barrel was just so easy to replace so why not? It was just preventative maintenance, like we do with car parts on high mileage vehicles. Other than those items that I consider preventative maintenance, it has not failed. For the Glock 17, I’ve only changed the captured recoil spring as preventative maintenance but that gun has never failed.
@john4K47
@john4K47 8 ай бұрын
@@colt10mmsecurity68 that's cool. I haven't replaced any parts on my Beretta or G17 yet. Because both don't have nearly enough rounds through them. For the longest time I kept the Beretta mainly as a collector's piece and didn't shoot it often.

Glock guy here. I have Gs From g43 to g34, plus all the baby Glocks. Not a single problem with any of them. However, after watching your videos, I thought I’d give the hellcat and hellcat pro a try. You right, they are crazy reliable. The one thing I changed was the recoil spring with the DPM spring kit. After testing the 3 springs that come with the kit, I found the middle spring to decrease recoil the best. I believe it decreases recoil by 20%. Thanks for your info. BTW I’ve been on fence about the P365. After watching your videos, I will just stick to my hellcats 🙏🏻

Pocket pistol triggers are awesome, it's so cringey when people call them garbage. that safety that allows safe pocket carry allows you to hold onto your gun with your hand in your pocket in front of people without them knowing. This allows you to go from a 2 second draw time to a half a second draw time. That could mean life or death. If I see someone who looks suspicious, my hand is on my gun, and none the wiser. It's a significant advantage. Its meant for close range. However, if you work on your grip you can overcome a poor trigger pull.

You said it perfect. The pico shoots great when it shoots. Its actually the softest recoiling of the tiny single stack .380s. But at the cost of a recoil spring that's too strong. Buffalo bore or underwood will run well. Its ironic. Beretta wanted to have the only .380 in the world rated for the unpublish "+p .380" spec. But ended up with a gun that wont run anything but +p reliably.

Great video as always! I have to say, I love your point about it could be any gun from any manufacturer. My most unreliable gun ever were my first 3 Glock 43s. Testament to my faith in Glock that my 4th one yes 4th one, I kept going, was amazing. Also I hear a lot about the lcp being unreliable, but I have put a TON of rounds through my OG lcp, my 2nd gen lcp, my lcp custom and my lcp2 with ONE malfunction that to this day I don’t know if it was the gun or the ammo and my lcps get covered in flour. My current favorite pistols are my 320s and 365s, however and this goes to any “swappable style” gun, I have one 365 slide that won’t function with one of my 5 fcus, but it works perfectly with the other 4. I also say any swappable style because, though it functions 100%, my g19 slide which is 100% identical to my g45 slide is a struggle to get on and off my g45 (one has a dot one has irons). Guns are a manufactured good and just like cars, or phones, or computers there are lemons

I trust mine but that's because it's been reliable. That being said my current EDC is a Ruger but I've carried the Taurus and I do have faith in its reliability. As of matter of fact I sold my Glock 42 and the G3C is what replaced it. Loved the 42 but it didn't work for pocket carry, figured if I was going to carry on my belt I wanted something in a better caliber with more rounds. The G3C just fit the bill and the leftover money got me enough ammo to put it to the test.

I have been buying and collecting handguns for about 43 yrs. Many are semiautos that are all steel and metal and some are polymer striker fired and also some are Revolvers. I can tell you honestly that I have never had a Revolver that had any problems with the rare exception because homemade reloads only 1 time . This is why me and many others are switching back to from autos back to Revolvers . If there is mass Kaos like a riot or a war like situation thats when I will pack my Gen 1 Glock 17 or my S&W model 915 , but believe me there will be j-frame small 38 cal revolver as a back up . The thing is that Revolvers are not made for long periods of rapid sustained firing and will over heat and that is why Semi autos are used by military armed forces. But thats a exception to the rule and Revolvers are better in most cases. Its funny young man that you apparently dont own one.

Ray I totally agree with you, except that I would not own a Glock. Rarely have I seen problems with S&W, Colt or Ruger revolvers, but I have seen a few with Taurus. S&W 3rd generation semiautos like your 915 are outstanding handguns as well.

I had a Gen 5 Glock 19 that ran %100 the first 200 rounds then started having failures to feed nearly every shot. After returning from the factory with a new slide, it then ran reliably.

My First MC9 S/N # 1089, had major issues....first it was the recoil spring. Then it the barrel was locking into top of slide. Sent it back, they sent me a new one, it runs flawlessly... I bought a 2nd one, which was flawless from start.

I ow many hand guns, most Glocks. The worst gun for reliability in my gun collection is the Ruger LC9s. I’ve had to send it back to Ruger twice for issues that should not exist. Manual safety broke off. The slide locked in the open position and would not close.

Glock 28 has mainly feed ramp issues. It already becomes apparent by having a simple look at the ramp. Widening a bit the lateral edges of the ramp and polishing it usually solves the issue.

Had a buddy ribbin me years ago for buying a used Keltec p11 . He talked about how unreliable and useless it was until we went shooting together. He got through half a mag in his eaa witness .45 before it started spitting parts out meanwhile the p11 ran reliably eating everything I ran through it all day . He was humbled to say the least , I still have the p11 with approximately 1000 rnds through it and no malfunctions to this day . Also have a spectrum that’s been 100% reliable

I'm amazed how people think the P365 was the first small micro 9mm 10 rounder when Kel-Tec did it way back in 1995. Yet those people would get pissed if you told them Glock invented the first striker polymer, they'll immediately yell "NOOO, H&k did it first with the VP70 back in 1970". It's funny how they turn into firearms historians when talking about Glock copying H&k decades ago but they turn into complete idiots when talking about the Kel-Tec P11 and now Sig copied them for their P365 just 5 years ago.

that slide on your all custom glock is the same one I have on my frankenglock. I tried making a 3d print build, but could never get it to run reliably (almost definitely just cheap parts) I ended up just getting a PSA dagger frame and haven't had any issues so far, but I don't think I even have a hundred rounds through it yet.

lol, ironically I got my shield plus and it was a POS (it's back at S&W right now)... dead trigger half the time becuas the split trigger safety doesn't reliably disengage....while my P365 has never skipped a beat. all luck of the draw.

My Glock may be fixed. I shot a little over 200 rounds today with zero malfunctions that was including using my palmetto state armory 15 round mags, not ready to carry it yet, but it seems hopeful.// I have another issue with my stream light sub. It’s the third or fourth time my mounting screw snapped, and the light fell off am I the only one having this issue with stream light?

Tiny pistols and big hands = interference with the slide reciprocation. Also people think they can make up for a smaller caliber/barrel with really hot ammo. Also people try to overload smaller mags and put one in the hole.. all of this is trouble for these little guns. Source- experience
