Tampa should be one of those teams. They should change their primary color to a dark purple because that’s what a lightning cloud looks like. It makes no sense that they use the same blue color as the Maple Leafs.

There so much potential to bring with different colors, the league need more Purple, Green, Orange, Teal, Burgundy and off white. Some jersey are so much amazing in off white like Ranger and Wilds. The colors off white is classic and old style vibe it's so nice to see in my opinion.

Really glad you made this post - it’s exactly the information I was looking for! Guess I have the same interests…. Curious how you came to your colors listed for CBJ? Primary is obvious. Secondary I’m thinking you must be looking at the first iteration of the awful “retro-reverse” unis - which makes sense for your purposes, but I don’t really count as uniforms as much as marketing tools by the league. But where do you get silver/grey for CBJ? Their third jerseys for years have been the lighter blue & cream color with the cannon logo on the front.

This video pretty much explains why I’m so annoyed about the Oilers going back to blue. Orange is such an underused color in the league, which made those jerseys one of the most unique. Blue is the most overused color, and now they’re adding to it, which is irritating. Same goes for why I’m not a fan of Colorado removing the black from their uniforms; they’re too blue now.

Forest Green should be different from normal green. Wild green is way different than the Stars

I think Seattle did well being unique, but also ended up with uniforms that clash with nearly any other team. Other than the red, it’s so much less bright than the rest of the NHL. It’s a beautiful pair of uniforms, and they’ve got the same complexity of color as the Avs, the wild, and the sharks to name a few, but causes them to clash with most of the others.

One thing I've always liked about the Blue Jackets colors are the navy blue, red (scarlet) scheme is only used by one other team (Washington) and in their case red is the primary color and blue is secondary. Compare that to how often the scheme is used in baseball (Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, Cardinals, Angels, Nationals and Braves), or football (Patriots, Giants and Texans).

I think an interesting topic is should the NHL step in and try to convince teams to change color schemes so it's not mainly blue or red primary colors? Should the NHL have intervened when Tampa chose to he just blue and white like the Leafs? I think other sports teams have a variety of primary colors.

I don’t mind the colors being similar but the Tampa jerseys are such a direct copy of the Leafs it drives me crazy. St Louis and Buffalo both use blue/yellow but you’d never mistake any of their jerseys for one another.

@@ogreman2229 I think it drives me crazy with Leafs and Lightning is because they are in the same division. Had they been in different divisions I wouldn't care. Like Boston and Pittsburgh are in the same conference but different divisions. But I guess my argument makes a case for Sharks and Kraken being teal. And I'm not saying Tampa shouldn't have blue. Just think they should add a 3rd color to spice it up. I do recall seeing a video when they rebranded that they wanted a one color logo to be like an old school brand.
