Jason, can you discuss how you keep track of everything you buy and sell for taxes? I'm buying and selling 100's of cards a month and I'm finding keeping track of buys, sales, shipping costs, supplies, recordkeeping a bit overwhelming. Not too many collectors and dealers talk about the admin side of cards.

Buy bulk lots, flip for profit, and fund your PC. Rinse and repeat is basically what I got from your video which is 100% the most fun/right way to do it brother!

I do the same kind of thing, but with my favorite Cleveland guys. I got a few Nick Chubbs from you, and I think I've picked up 5 different color variations of the Bernie Kosar prizm that was put out there like a year ago. I collected too, when I was a kid, and the card everyone had to have was the Mark Mcgwire rookie from 85. He's still one of my favorite players ever, because no matter if there was a steroid scandal or not, you can't take that home run race he had with Sosa away from my greatest memories! When I picked back up 30 plus years later, my old collection was in all sorts of different conditions, so I've gone and tried to collect a lot of the guys I did back then, even the vintage stuff. You are right, that is what we do this for, not the selling, as much. I even started into the prospects this year in baseball, which I haven't done for years, and I hope some of that stuff, and the Homer's I bought from the UFC cards turn out to eventually be great investments. Cody Garbrandt went to my high school, though he's from the town next door, but Stipe, and Jessica Eye, I've been watching since they started. Love the video JMac!

Love to hear it, funny enough McGwire was my favorite player and PC as a kid as well, lol. Also Chubb is actually good and if he keeps it up has at chance at the Hall, my Panther PC guys suck lol, but I still love collecting them!!

I can tell you, that I'm a huge fan of Luke Kuechly, and thought he was one of the best ever at the position, and I'm a big fan of the Hornets too. I used to be a huge Dell Curry fan, and now his son also. I recently got an auto from a recent set of Dell, that I want to get graded. Again, loved the video, because it got me to thinking about some of my favorite players. Thanks!

Great videos Jmac. Love them. I want to share what happened tonight out here at work. So I work in an oil refinery. I'm an operator. So when it's running good I don't do much. So anyway I had a couple blaster boxes of Donruss I took to work that I picked up from Walmart. 2nd pack I opened I hit a banger. A Downtown Patrick Mahomes. I was shaking that was my best put ever and the guys I worked with started laughing at me. I told them man you don't understand how hard it is just to hit a Downtown little lone a Patrick Mahomes...away just wanted to share that. As always keep up the great videos love to watch them while at work

Peter just started Following you. I recently got interested in the card collecting world. But I want it to collect something I am interested on. In my case is UFC. Now, My question is do you think UFC will ever become as big as other sports in the collecting field?
@JMacSportsCards Жыл бұрын
UFC has a lot of room to grow over the years no doubt

Getting valuable collections by accident stopped after companies started making "premium" releases. 57 Mantle and 86 Fleer base cards are valuable because refractors and RPAs didn't exist back then. Collectors have to be honest with their budgets and whether the cards they can afford have a trend of greatly appreciating in the hobby.

Still will continue on into the future. Prices have reset or are still resetting, there will at some point be another economic rally in the future (might be 5-10 years) but there will be another rally and some collectors who have been collecting the right team/players and will be sitting on a lot cash.

Hey JMac, quick question. I just had to refund a buyer because a card got lost in the mail. I think I remember you saying something in another video about how to get reimbursed as a seller if that happened. How and where do I go about that? It was like an $8 card shipped through eBay envelope so it's not really a big deal, just wanted to know.
@JMacSportsCards Жыл бұрын
Yep made a video on returns/refunds and getting reimbursed with the link to file a claim go check it out

Getting back into collecting, the “investment” side of it takes away the fun. I love to collect cards. Seems like the best investment is to buy and resell unopened products years later. Too much self restraint for my blood, i love spinning the wheel. Thanks for the content one of my favorite chans on the topic 💯
@TheRealCATM Жыл бұрын
Exactly I don’t find the investor part fun. What I do is I buy multiple boxes from newer sets when they come out and sell my duplicates and use that money to fund more purchases whether that be singles or more boxes

Really enjoyed the video. I am a collector also. I just went thru a ton of baseball cards and have about 9,000 raw cards I am going to be selling soon. And I have a lot of basketball I haven't even looked at to go thru. It is fun . PC collecting question. Do you put everything in your collection in a penny sleeve and top loaders? I have been told it is the best idea. I collect MJ and MN Twins mostly and rookie cards any and all. I just started getting back into the hobby. I enjoy the videos you post thank you.
@JMacSportsCards Жыл бұрын
Yes bare minimum penny sleeve, but most get a penny sleeve/top loader. Nicer stuff I put in One Touches, bigger stuff/autos/SSP's I grade (I just put 1 or 2 in orders I send off of maybe 20 cards the others I'm selling and 1 or 2 or bigger PC cards)

That Brady is a great example. If I were investing $1000, I'd rather buy 100 $10 Brady cards that seem undervalued, than 1 $1000 Pickett RPA. I guess it's just a mindset thing. I'd rather have a 90% chance to earn 10%, than a 10% chance to earn 90%. Which means I probably will never be broke, but am also less likely to be filthy rich.

Let's be honest...no one "collects", there is a price for everything
@JMacSportsCards Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, unfortunately it’s just wrong. I’ve been collecting for 30+ years and I sell and communicate with collectors every day, obviously it costs money to collect but to a collector most times it’s not the motivation or concern of how much it will be worth someday down the road. A lot of the hobby just buys stuff they like and “collect” their favorite players/teams. Maybe you’ll get there one day, maybe not 🤷♂️
