The most VERSATILE baitcaster ever? Unboxing the NEW Calcutta Conquest SE 30HG

Hey guys,
Welcome back to another episode! Everyone seem to really enjoy the new gear review videos so I've got a pretty cool one today.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on the new Shimano Calcutta Conquest SE 30HG and I tell you what it does not disappoint. I've spooled the reel with 10lb Sunline AMZ 4 strand and set it up on a Dobyns Sierra 682c.

CC101HG (21') is same size. BFS was built on 101 platform. DC is older and bit bigger. Good review, thanks.

Do love a good drum baitcaster! Can't beat the shimano stuff, fishband tender shoot and the early o.g swiss made abu stuff for heavy hitters like monster goodoo, joondies and jacks!

Totally agree Josh we bought our 300 and 300MD here in Oz but got 100 and bfs in JP. Price for some can big factor though. Luving the videos and frothed on this episode keep it up 👌

Great video! I’m in SEQ and would love one of these for the jacks. But I normally run PE3 because I’m fishing nasty structure. Would love to see how much line this would hold if running heavier braid.

Hey, a bit late but may i ask how well this thing cast bfs lures (maybe 2-4g) compared to the bfs conquest ?

The BFS definitely casts those lighter lures much easier mate. The right rod would make a big difference though too

So by being numbered as a 30 size, does that mean it is intended for light inshore/salt fishing?

I don’t really know what they’re trying to suggest with the 30 size hey. It could definitely do light salt work for mangrove jack and stuff like that

No worries mate! No real reason behind it, I just had a spool of it at home so was good to test with. I’ve since changed over to Sunline Almight sinking PE as I’ve been using the combo for small glidebaits

On the right rod it definitely would man! I’ve got the slightly lighter Sierra on the way for exactly that 👌🏼

Hey mate, how do you think it would go or have you tried skipping top water frogs? Iv been looking at these for a while as well as something I can use from frogs up to some small swim baits as you used in this video.

It would do it for sure man, just be a case of dialling in the cast control settings!

They need to stop drilling holes in the side plate to keep dirt out. It looks good but doesn’t remove a lot of weight.

Definitely! It does look good but a little impractical

If you haveaccess to the back side of the holes, perhaps you could tape them off and fill each one with a couple drops of epoxy. It wouldn't change the look but might keep dirty and water out.

Is 7 grams the lightest you've casted in it? Any issues with the 7 grams lures?

It is mate. No dramas so far, would say it casts them just as well as my Conquest BFS

The silver one is the conquest BFS mate. The SE is that dark grey/black colour

30 is right hand wind and 31 is left mate. That’s generally the rule with all the shimano baitcast stuff
