Here is my review of the NISI Swift System. What filters do you use ? Cheers, Flo
@Siimkristjanpariis
@Siimkristjanpariis Жыл бұрын
I was about to order the system but then i realized the VND is regular screw-on filter. Whats your opinion, would stacking 2x ND16 work? (making it ND32) Sometimes im in situations where i need to quickly change the lens but having to screw-on filters is rather cumbersome. Having an SWIFT adapter ring permanently on every lens and stacking one or two ND16 would sound more reasonable for me

Great video. I have an 82mm pro mist and wanted to use this vnd system with the small rig mini Matt box. Should I buy the 77mm or the 82mm vnd? I heard the 82mm doesn’t fit inside the Matt box but the 77 does. Just don’t want to make a bad purchase. 🙏🏻

I have an bmpcc 6k pro with a sigma f1.8 18-35mm art EF-s lens (72mm) and also a canon R5 with a 28-70 f2 RF (95mm). Now My goal is to go with 1 set at 95mm that fits all but when using an C-PL, I get into trouble. Also not sure if nisi has ir/uv swift at 95mm. Since it seems impossible to find that from NISI swift system and since that needs to go first. I guess. right? In order. C-PL > ND > Mist > UV/IR. I have no idea what to do, other than to buy two C-PL non-swift at 95mm and 72mm and screw the swift on it with step-up ring from 72mm to 95mm.

This system sounds like a good fit for me. I have 3, 6, and 9 stop circular NISI filters right now. I love the color rendition. However, I've been wanting something that imposes less friction on my run n' gun shooting, and something that covers the gaps between 3, 6 and 9 stops. If I switch to variable NDs I don't want to compromise much on image quality (color shift, x pattern, etc). It sounds like this might have the flexibility, range, and image quality that I've been looking for.

I bought the True Color VND 1-5 stops from NiSi thanks to you, since I was looking for the perfect ND filter for my needs (with no color shift), But I was kinda sad about the fact that I don't have this extra stop range (6-9 stops) since I want to shoot a lot of LOG or RAW format with my Fujifilm XH2S, which starts at 1000 or 1250 ISO (hella bright in a bright day). This system sounds and fit really good for me since I could put this ND16, maybe not the Black Pro Mist for my needs but still good to have it. Thanks for the video!

Why isn’t there an adapter that stays on the lens so you can also press fit the actual vnd? With how it is now you still have to screw on and off the vnd when you need it or don’t need it.

Can I add a filter on another one without adapters if they have the same size, for instance 77mm? so I’d like to put a black mist on a 77mm diameter lens and then a nd+cpl filter on the black mist. Without holder or adapter can I? Thank you for explaning I really appreciated! ☺ I have a question for you, thank you in advance for answring... I would like to use the lens Sony 24-105mm on my Sony A7IV, then I would like to apply a Nisi Black Mist on it, and on the black mist I’d like to put the ND64 6stops + CPL integrated filter by Nisi. Will I make a mess of my photos and videos? Would this be a bad choice to make? Is the 24-105mm G really less sharp, bidimensional, sad looking and not good in night, low light or indoors situations? Cause my intention is to get a tridimensional, cinematic looking on my photos and videos.

Looking cool :) I've tested this one, but 1-5 was not enough for shot at 2.0 outside, but color was really accurate, but have you notice any color shift with this two filters together at 7-9 stops? :)

Thanks!! I understand that 1-5 might not be enough in certain condition and being able to go to 7-9 really makes a difference. I have used it a few times and so far so good. I always tried to stay around 7 as I generally not like to push things to the max as a habit.

Great video on the nisi swift system, I have a unrelated question.. Im in my first few years of filmmaking, currently shoot on a canon c100 mkii, shoot weddings and short documentary style films, and notice the lack of color depth/dynamic range while outside, would the original bmpcc be an upgrade in those categories with the higher codecs? (Would use both cameras for an A and B cam for weddings etc) I love the look of the original pocket and see you have achieved great results with it, but would love to hear your thoughts!
@OfTwoLands
@OfTwoLands Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! Having owned the C100 mk2 for a few years and the OG bmpcc for many years as well the short answer is yes. You will get more color depth and DR with the OG. However they are both very different cameras. The C100 is a whole lot better for documentaries. I only ever used the OG bmpcc for travel and short pieces. I have always preferred the C100 for doco work. The more recent bmpccs (4k and especially 6k pro) are better for docos. Hope this helps a little!

Hey Flo, thanks for this review (for the sake of a broaden community, I’ll write in English, instead of French 🥳) I own pretty much the same setup as yours (bmpcc 6k pro + sigma 18-35) and I noticed that the IR Cut Filter is only (yet) available in 77mm and 82mm. I reached out to Nisi and they replied it’s « like that » without any information for the future. Since the sigma 18-35 is 72mm, how do you organise this kit? Do you need a step up filter ring? Where do you place it? At very first, and then buy a 77mm (or 82mm) Nisi Swift system? As well, how does it combine with the internal ND filters from the 6k Pro? Have you been using the system simultaneously? Does it work well? Thanks for your answer and time for your community, cheers S.

@OfTwoLands

It can happen when you use the ND at the full/max range (ie 4 or 5). If you stay around 1-3 it should be fine. And yes the IR Cut filter helps a lot if you shoot on the bmppcs for example as it allows you to use the full range of the VND without having to worry about IR pollution :).

@leedonohue
@leedonohue Жыл бұрын
i think Nisi claims that you wont have vignetting up starting from 20mm with 3 filters. so you should be good to go with the sigma, assuming you are using it on a cropped sensor. i think 4 filters might be pushing it. even though this is exactly what i need to know as well. on the bmpcc4k ill be needing both nds, the ir filter plus my glimmer glass.

@@leedonohue I have been looking for something that has same clip-on/magnetic concept but fixed value IR+ND filters. Such as IRND32 or 64 or something like that. For some reason all those products only come with variable ND's. Would make lot of sense to use same clip-on attachment on fixed IRND's which you could quickly swap between. And non-variable ND would give me option to use separate circular polarizer filters to have more control on reflections and skies. I would like to ditch the variable ND from my workflow because im not really happy with the color casts my Tiffen VND produces. I havent tried Nisi ones yet so i dont know how much they affect the colors.
@leedonohue
@leedonohue Жыл бұрын
@@Siimkristjanpariis i use the fixed circular irnds from nisi and they afe fantastic, only problem is that they only come in 2 usuable strengths. if you want to dial it in more you need the square irnds but they are pretty pricey. ive used the true color vari nd already and i have to say i see little to no difference to the fixed ones. there is a VERY SLIGHT magenta cast, very very very slight but its not a deal breaker. i think the tiffen vari nd is much worse when it comes to color cast etc. this system is a clear purchase for me
@Siimkristjanpariis
@Siimkristjanpariis Жыл бұрын
@@leedonohue Sounds good. Im also considering that kit when it becomes available in Europe. I hope they will expand that system in future so we could add extra fixed IRNDs in different strengths for the kit. So instead of 3 layers (VND+ND16+IR) we could for example use only one single IRND32 or 64 and add a CPL or diffusion on top of it.
