That's likely why he has a weird folk-hero status despite being a violent criminal. The fact he's never actually killed anyone in all his antics and this point seems like has to be intentionally avoiding it makes him come off as almost noble and easy to romanticize the same way people do old-west outlaws that never shot at anyone who didn't shoot first.

Bronson knew he would never get any of his demands, so always just asked for random stuff, he says it in his books. His demands were just to play with the negotiator, if you do anything in prison that puts you(roof top protest)or anyone else(hostage taking)a negotiator is sent to try to talk you down but will not give you anything, their job is to talk, and Charlie made stupid demands as an excuse why he did what he did, but he was just disrupting the prisons regime and causing trouble. A national newspaper printed his first demands and Charlie read about it and laughed, so kept making demands

"Mad Jack" lived most of his life in peacetime as a civilian without commiting any crimes or hurting anyone outside of war. He also served long years in the millitary which meant he had discipline, a set of skills and from his adventures we can judged he pocessed quite the intellect. None of that can be said about the absolute mad man shown in the video above

Maybe he has a dark history that causes his temper born due to his family despite his family is the stable and normal background like parent do something that makes him worse in secret or he is anti-racism or other reason as lightening his random violent motive. He usually did have weapons, watch the video, he slashes shelf with the razor when he had the three men tied up in his cell, and he made a spear out of a knife and a broomstick(which was shown in the video when he took the art teacher. I've read books about him and he did use weapons but he's also a big bloke and if he beat you and tied you up, why would he need a weapon?
