ddaeng in korean means wrong/incorrect like a bell sound effect but they use it in lots of ways in this. Like a play on words.

Alternative to westerns version of "ding" 💁🏻
@sandys18904 жыл бұрын
It actually has multiple meanings depending on how you use it
@KamMix6 жыл бұрын
There are 6 different meanings of the word “ddaeng (땡)” so that’s the song’s “pride”. The whole song is a word play on this word. There are “writers notes” that explain how they use each word in English and all of the word play so you should definitely look it up! Here are a couple of examples!: -The School bell -Onomatopoeia meaning “incorrect” -The perfect set of cards in a Korean game (the numbers they were repeating in the chorus) -an alarm

You guys must check out - BTS "Outro: Tear". There is just a color coded lyric vid. for it just like this one. I believe it's a masterpiece of a rap song feat. RM, Suga & J-Hope. With Ddaeng Suga always wanted to make a beat for a song with Korean traditional instruments which he succeeded in doing with the song "Ddaeng" which Suga also co-produced along with Jpearl. BTS always reads a lot of armys comments even on YT so they knew that even though they said that "Mic Drop" would be their good bye to diss raps so many army still wanted more hard core rap cyphers to follow up cyphers 1 - 4. Ddaeng was released for their 5th anniversary sort of as a present to army. RM changing up his flow and has more of a mellow cadence here. They are always playing around with different unique beats, flows and different styles. Which brings me back to really hoping you check out "Outro: Tear". 💯👍🙏🙏🙏💜❤️💜🔥😱😎💜❤️💜🔥😵😍🐥 Edit: I just realized you guys haven't heard BTS Cyphers yet! 😱 You absolutely must check out Cyphers 1, 2, 3, & 4. Once again there are only color coded lyric vids for them. If you want to see hard core lightening fast flowing rap. This is a must. They are dissing all their haters that they've dealt with.

"The title of this song is simply ddaeng, but depending on the context, ddaeng can have multiple meanings like: - wrong/incorrect - sound of bell ringing - action/sound of freeing a frozen person in freeze tag, also used in actual game’s name - sudden good fortune Overall, this song is similar to that of 'Mic Drop', which was a track to diss haters. They call out to haters; they're direct with what they say, and are not afraid to state themselves. BTS never fails to create songs that have meaning. Some people who have listened to this song say “ddaeng is that type of song I’d play when I suddenly get sad for no apparent reason to remind myself who I am again”. this is a song to remind armys who they are. Don't let anyone pull you down and make you feel worse, because that isn't who you are." This is an explanation I got on ARMY amino (an app), but if you guys want to know even more details about this song with extensive word play: www.google.hn/amp/s/aminoapps.com/c/btsarmy/amp/blog/ddaeng-analysis/bNwj_MNrUou2peJrkEn0p5ngE4lJBGoDKW twitter.com/lyrics_velvet/status/1006807367000961024?s=19

It is one of their diss tracks. They also have the "Cypher" Series. Cypher Pt.1(2013), Cypher Pt.2: Triptych(2014), Cypher Pt.3: Killer(2013) and Cypher Pt.4(2016). They are all dope. My favorite though would be Pt.3 and 4. The rapline also released their own solo mixtapes. RM's Mixtape is titled "RM"(2015) song from this mixtapes that has an MV as "Do You", "각성(Awakening)" and "농담(Joke). SUGA released his mixtape under the name Agust D and is titled "AGUST D"(2016). His MVs are "Agust D" and "give it to me". JHOPE's mixtape is "HOPE WORLD"(2018), his MVs are "Daydream" and "Airplane". I personally feel that BTS rapline is the best. It's one of the many reasons why I love them. Hopefully you can also check them out. 🔥🔥🔥

One of my favourite songs of bts. although suga is the rapper that hits hard for me, i have to say that in this one RM's part was just the best. the way he dropped on the beat with his stutter and rapped in that slow smooth tone i can't.

You want some hard raps you guys should react to their Cypher series... Cypher Pt. 1, 2, 3 and 4!!! Those are also diss song to their haters but much aggressive and hard core i would say...? Yeah, please react to them pleaseeee... And ddaeng in korean could mean two things...one would be the 'sound of the bell' and the other means 'wrong' ...i hope it helps 😊...love u guys!!!

@28kushina6 жыл бұрын
I was waiting for this! Thank you for reacting! Ddaeng means different things in each verse. It can mean 'wrong', a good fortune or sound of a bell. The numbers are linked to the Korean card game, BTS are basically saying they have the best cards. The numbers are also linked to a bible verse where Jesus foresees his betrayal. Also the 'frogs in a well' part is basically about having a small worldview (narrowminded), BTS are basically telling Korean industry to continue staying local and not evolving (sarcastic). Plus Namjoon (RM) stutters in his verse, indicating how others who dissed him publicly now stutter an apology. (an issue behind other kpop idol who dissed RM way back then. RM forgives but never forget). J-hope raps about 'Homework' he's dissing the people who observe them and try to copy their formula of success. (There's literally a research team!) "small company friend, i hope you get big soon" Suga said this for 2 reasons * bcoz some of their small company friends turned their backs to them coz they are not 'small and miserable' anymore or * lowkey cursing big companies bcoz the big 3 are corrupt and abusing their power. Buuuut the next line says "we'll fail as you wish" so it basically means they have found out that their friends aren't "real" friends after all. So in short DDAENG doesnt mean BTS are not humble etc. its just means they hear & see everything. They're just reminding people that they're not stupid and they know who is fake and who uses them for clout, who is their friend and who's not and what is said behind their backs. I think thats all. 😊💜🤘 (this was copied & pasted of my analyzation of lyrics at my old notes) 😂

RM’s verse is a downright masterpiece consisting of multiple wordplays and metaphors. The thing with the dying in the well, is that he hopes the haters die like frogs in their wells, meaning comfortable in their own little space. Also, he’s saying the haters without haters should look in the mirror, they’ll see their haters there, I really love that line! Thanks for the reaction! Tbh, Ddeang is one of my fav BTS songs!

"moo-ha-ha," - The Jin of geez dayday... Ddaeng is a dis to the media/kpop industry and the trolls on the internet. After the BBMA performance, suddenly all these Korean shows that wouldn't give them the time of day before, started inviting them on. (You don't even know how they were treated in the past. In Korea status really matters, and those groups coming from small companies have no status. BTS were either not invited onto shows that featured performers from the big companies or were often edited out before airing. Check out Jungkook and the hamburger incident to see what I mean about treatment.)

This is a really clever song with a lot of wordplay because "ddaeng" has about 6 meanings which means that the meaning of the sentence changes based on how you use the word. There is a really cool video called "BTS - DDAENG Explained by a Korean" by DKDKTV that explains the song so well. It made me realize just how savage the song actually is.

If you wanna hear some fast rap, suga's your man. You should watch his solo work he does under the name of Agust D *recs for Agust D:* - Agust D (first one you should watch, it's fire) - Give it to me - the Last (only lyrics video, but goes deeper, talking about mental health problems and stuff) *RM:* - Joke - Do you - Change (ft. Wale) J-hope has some more chill songs *J-hope:* - Airplane - Daydream - Baseline Probably loads of people are gonna recommend you the cypher series. Just keep in mind that they made the first one a long time ago and they get better by the years. You can really hear the development. When you watch the cyphers: *watch the live version of cypher 3, the red bullet concert one*

I think this diss track is absolutely genius bc they’re responding to their haters but they’re doing it so calmly (especially namjoon man his voice I died) and not only are they calm about it but it’s a song where their haters have to look up HOW they got dissed and that’s just hilarious to me. They put so much thought into their lyrics with their word play & double/triple meanings and just killed every hater out there.

"This could really blow up here I dont understand" yall for real we believe that too! The "problem" with this song was that it's not available in iTunes or Spotify since BTS released this for free in SoundCloud as one of their gifts to fans for their 5th anniversary since debut. If it was in iTunes or Spotify you'd best believe with let it blow up to the GP and let it hit the charts. Leave it to us to complain about BTS releasing songs for free 😂😂😂

DDAENG is a special song produced by the rap line for their 5th anniversary as BTS. It's not part of their album. Ddaeng was used in so many ways in this song like wordplay. It could mean: - wrong/incorrect - the sound of the bell - perfect / good bet (the highest number combinations in the korean traditional gambling card game) - sudden realization - ddaeng was also used to rhyme like everyTHANG etc
@sahura42625 жыл бұрын

In the lyrics they called the haters "frog in a well” : is a phrase used to refer to people who stay within their means because they’re afraid of the world beyond. When RM said “i pray earnestly for you to die in a well” could mean rotting in their own mediocrity
@minsugacheonjaejjangjjangm11946 жыл бұрын
And yes it's a reference to a card game. Ddaeng means a lot in here since there's a lot of play on words Example the lyrics in the chorus: "18 13 38 ddaeng" (its a card game reference since those are the numbers of the winning cards, so ddaeng is like saying "bingo", in RM's vers he said "you're 7 kkeut, im ddaeng" 7 kkeut is the lowest scoring card) "U wrong me right look carefully ddaeng" (here ddaeng is kinda like that "ding" sound when you realize or find out smth) "Ring the school bell brr brr ddaeng" (ddaeng is the sound of the school bell) This life is hopeless, You're ddaeng (ddaeng also means wrong, in korean game shows when you hear the sound of a bell or say "ddaeng" it means wrong) There's a lot of diss and shade in the lyrics, the tea is really hot, but that would be so long to explain so im just gonna explain the chorus lmao. So basically they saying they're right, the haters are wrong; they're winning and the haters are sore losers lmao
