Right there with you on all but was surprised by the dock choice, gonna have to try it! I honestly don’t use swim baits much 🤷🏼‍♂️ but will try to add this application of it! Zoom fluke (Texas rigged) is pretty darn weedless no matter how you use it, weightless, weighted etc and a stick bait for that matter as well..

Johnson Silver Minnow is a 4WD of a bait that nobody uses much anymore. Roland Martin loved that bait in Florida many years ago. He always advertised it on his show. Buzzbait is pretty good also.

A Yamamoto fat ika rig backwards with an EWG hook. Since it Glides into the cover away from you, you can pull it straight back out. Not completely snag proof but pretty close. You can fish some pretty gnarly stuff with it. And it generates a lot of bites. My .02

I am blind in one eye and my depth perspiration isn't good but I have had years to get use to casting without over casting but It still happens and the worst is when your bait hits a branch and wraps around it 20 times.

I’m not Matt but in my experience the right jerkbaits can work decently in low visibility. Bright colors, rattles and the ability to suspend can give bass time to track it down. I’ve even caught catfish on jerkbaits in water like you described.

Matt, my buddies and I spent many years cranking rock dikes and banks on the lower Arkansas River. Our favorites were the 6A and 7A Bombers. Due to the bigger lips, the 7A didn't get hung in rock cracks nearly as much as 6S. I'm sure it's the same for modern day crankbaits. Bagley's we're also favorites due to balsa floating back up after hanging. Thanks for another informative video.

You really have become one of my very favorite bass channels I watch. The flukemaster will always be my number 1, I've just learned so much from him. But your channel and content give me more insight and knowledge without too much click baity pizzaz. Like the googan guys, ect. I've got you up there with the flukemaster and Glenn may. then the tactical guys, Tyler reels, and bass fishing hq are the next tier, then the rest. There's no Bullshit with your videos, we can feel your love of the sport and sharing your vast experience and knowledge. Just like the other 6 channels i mentioned above. Keep it up Matt!

I wouldn't say this is better than a frog, but a WEIGHTLESS Texas worm has done pretty well by me. For whatever reason they really don't want the frog it has worked for me. I've worked it over Matt's so thick you could walk across it, just inching it. Lilly pads just keep the rod high. Timber and rocks without much trouble but it's slow sink rate can be mind numbing. It's only an option to the frog, my money is still on the frog.

I mostly bank fish the Madison, WI chain of lakes. The slime is pretty thick before we’re even into the 50s and then the mats get thick in a hurry. I keep a swim jig tied on from ice out to iced up. You can bomb casts, can always feel when you need to rip it free of vegetation, and it comes clean easily.

I am going with Texas rigged grub. Fish it weightless, nail weighted, bullet sinker, pegged or unpegged. My latest idea I am working on is adding a piece of cork float like a pegged bullet sinker look to the top and weightless. Trying to fish it over pads so that when you stop it floats head up with the tail slightly moving hanging in the water. Had some success on my initial trial run but work in progress. Also looking at Zman products similar grub since it floats already.

If I use a soft jerkbait like a fluke or some swimbaits I use a flutter hook , straight shank with a weight running down the shank an I thread it on with the open hook exposed , but the weight is real light 1//16 or 1/8 oz , and it works like a jerkbait , my hook up percentage goes way up with the open exposed hook plus it sinks flat it will not get hooked in the rocks cause it does not nose dive like a jig head , I leaned this speckle trout fishing cause the trout are high up in the rocks and I got tired of losing jig heads , works , you can make a swimbait dart and suspend like a hard jerkbait , I work it the same way too just a lil slower , I use it for bass too on rocks

Would you still throw a jerk bait over shallow rock when the water has low vis? It's been drilled into my head to never fish jerk baits in low vis conditions, but if it would work it sure would save me a lot of aggravation. Not only that- it would open a place I used to fish back up to me- it's a spillway and they pushed a bunch of rock off into it when they widened it out- it's unbelievably bad. The whole bottom is covered in rocks anywhere from fist size to the size of a small car and the only thing you can fish there is stuff that runs on the surface or in the upper part of the column. Anything else you will probably lose. It's got some huge bass in it though- and they're not that pressured because few ppl will fish there now.
