I didn't think it was particularly left field? There was plenty of scenes that were more blatantly explicit, especially Nadeko Snake. It's a scene that fits Monogatari very well, where previous fanservice scenes were played in a way that was serious, funny or uncomfortable, the toothbrushing scene made something erotic from the mundane.

Keijo is a masterpiece of sports anime parody but I don't recommend it as your FIRST sports anime since a lot of the comedy comes from recognising how it's using all the same tropes regular sports anime uses for real sports with real leagues but for their ridiculous-ass sport (or ridiculous ass-sport, even) as if it's meant to be taken as seriously as those sports (because in their world it IS). Watch Haikyuu and Kuroko no Basuke first and you'll have everything you need to fully appreciate Keijo.
