And you're definitely right, Martha Davis is VERY special - her unique and dramatic voice, her lyrical genius, and she's just super special with amazing appeal! She's so underrated! The Motels as a band are underrated! The Motels have LOADS of great songs! IF you love Martha's voice and the Motels' music (she also plays rhythm guitar in the band), then you'll want to checkout and review: -Suddenly Last Summer -Total Control -Take the L -Isle of You -So L.A. -Remember the Nights They're one of THE BEST New Wave/Rock bands out there!

Yes! Martha Davis has a powerful voice like Ann Wilson's of Heart. When I saw The Motels in concert I remember thinking that she and Ann had the best female voices in music. Other great songs from them are 'Danger,' 'Whose Problem Am I,' and 'Total Control.' They were very different when they came out.....they were considered kind of punk or alternative but very cool!

When this song was released in 1982, much was made of the fact that in the world of youth-oriented music at the time Martha Davis was 31 years old, ancient for a pop diva. She succeeded as a "mature" woman in an environment of teenagers and fledgling adults. Great voice, great look. Her sophisticated torch song approach was superseded by the likes of Madonna, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany.

Written by Martha Davis. She is the only member left. All the others quit. Martha has a great voice! 🤯 She wrote a tribute to friend and contemporary Pat Benatar in her Greatest Hots album. The band was founded in Berkeley. Martha had a duet with The Tubes, a Phoenix based rock band who relocated to San Francisco. Great song in 1982! Martha tributes the late Roy Orbison, writer of a different Only the Lonely, at the end of this song. Suggested next video: Last Summer.
