I used to rent this movie every friday evening for more than 2 years. Love the OST and can't help pick up the bass and play along to it. Very underrated movie and OST.

@@kowalski5599 Back then it was a sort of personal ritual. I do own a copy of it [and quite a few other movies and OSTs I took an interest in over time]. Having a private Home Theatre Room also helps to continue the ritual.

@@kowalski5599 yeah, sadly. The guy who owned the rental store always had a copy of TMP and a bag of popcorn ready, friday nights. He was a great guy. Sometimes would hand up some free rental tapes he'd think I'd enjoy and some of his books too. He was the one who scored me the OST CD when he asked me why this movie in particular. Well, as you said, those days are gone now. Good memories though

@les antoine I just don't see how this film didn't score higher with the critics. I think it went over some audiences heads in that it is a very intelligent film. I see this becoming cult classic for sure. You're absolutely right that they don't make movies like this anymore.

I remember seeing this movie in the theaters. In my opinion it's a fantastic movie. It's not everyone's cup of tea, maybe because there aren't many action scenes till the bridge collapse at the end but I enjoyed it and have watched it several times. Richard Gere was superb in this film.

Still one of my favourite movies, and the book too left a long-lasting impression. Very hard to articulate how formative and impressionable it was in shaping my view of the world and life. That haunting, eerie but deeply emotional feeling I felt was perfectly captured in the film. I love the Mothman myth, and have seen people slam the film for not being accurate to the cases, but it's not what the film set out to do. It's less about the supernatural and more about people. It's not about the winged weirdo of point pleasant as much as it's about the exploration of what it represents to individuals, especially grief and loss in the case of John Klein. And the dangers of not being able to say goodbye or to let go, to not be afraid to live your life in the wake of trauma. Finding closure. There's something very human about it all that never left me. The soundtrack still evokes those feelings.

Imagine you loved somebody and both of you were so close to each other, if it comes to the interior, that it was like you were a single soul. You've lost that person forever, he/she died and now you regularly walk through your favourite empty, quiet street every New Year's eve like you did with your love. This time alone. There is snow, fireworks everywhere, people laughing, there are parties, but your thoughts are far beyond coulds as the only thing you care is the size of your loss. Try to imagine it all from this moment 1:32 (powerful rythm, isn't it?) I've lost *something* that was my whole life, it was literally murdered by other people so the description above is basically my feelings when listening to this and the openning scenes from the movie that've inspired me or should I say *have brought the pain again*

Ive heard about fragmented souls. The fragments of a single soul can consciously exist simultaneously without being aware of it, but as they are parts of the same soul, the feel magnetic towards each other like they are both each others missing piece, because they actually are. I think this world is a prison and to escape it, all pieces of ones soul should reunite and leave as a whole. If one piece realises the truth but others dont, this piece is doomed to stay trapped with the others until all of them escape

I found out the best solution on our pain (physical or mental) is to get rid of the cause. And I'm planning just that.

You'll all think I'm crazy for posting this but I know almost everything there is to know about mothman. I saw him in my home when I was 9 years old (I'm now 33). In a nutshell he's a human being who became an angel but refused an order from God. He is bound by the devil to torment the living but also helps the living. He's trapped between heaven and hell. His only motivation is to get into back into heaven but everytime he does he's burned up, destroyed, and sent to hell but is then expelled because he's able to deceive satan. Hence mothman. A moth flies instinctually around light and into a fire. His plight is futile
