I live in West Virginia. We are taught about it in history class and we also do out own research as well as discuss it quite often especially when some of our friends go into Ohio because most people drive across that bridge to get there. We are taught that he is believed to be good and mostly everyone thinks so. All over people think he is real. Thought I'd put that out there. If you like creepy things West Virginia is a good place with the west allegheny lunatic asylum and other penitentiaries. It's really interesting and have a lot of myths to them.

In the newspaper about the first sighting, there is a little article about how a meteor shower is expected that night. Maybe the 'meteor shower' was actually a cover for alien spaceships coming to land on Earth, and the Mothman was one of these aliens who had gone ahead to check stuff out before the others got there. I think that should be a theory!

Great video. At the same time as the Mothman was seen, there were other phenomena which were also occurring in that area..some of which were dramatized in the movie. Whether this helps to shed some light on who or what the Mothman is...is anyone's guess. 1. One of the largest ever recorded UFO sightings in the U.S. was seen in the area at this time. So many people contacted the police about it and were talking about it openly, it became a cultural phenomena in the area. People, instead of going to the movies or "parking" on the weekends, would instead meet in open spaces to UFO sight together. 2. Communities in West VA at the time reported to authorities unusual men dressed in all black suits. They spoke in an odd disconnected way, almost robot-like, and were evasive in conversations with locals. 3. Many people reported to police in Pt Pleasant and surrounding areas continuous crank telephone calls. It got so bad that people would request to have their number changed from the telephone company, only to find the very day that it was changed, the crank calls would resume. 4. Police reports show that people would report feeling immense feelings of dread *before* seeing the Mothman. It was this sighting, which the author talks about at the TNT area at 4:00, which provided one of the most detailed accounts of the Mothman and the fact that people experienced severe dread even before seeing the creature. 5. Some people, reputable people in the community, reported having conversations with the Mothman, during which they felt paralyzed. I think it's unlikely it's a bird that was changed into a large bird\man by polluting chemicals. I think it's more likely it was a visitor from another world, or another realm we don't know about, perhaps even supernatural. For example people who have reported supernatural phenomena, ie..hauntings by demons, have also felt feelings of dread before witnessing the event. There were too many other things going on at the very same time which, to me, indicate the nature of the "visit."

You should look into The Black Bird of Chernobyl. In the beginning of April, 1986, the people in and around Chernobyl began to witness what they described as a large dark figure with gigantic wings and piercing red eyes. People who saw this creature had nightmares, encounters with the creature, and threatening phone calls. These continued until the morning of April 26, 1986 when the reactor had a melt down. Many seem to believe it was the same creature spotted in Point Pleasant.

I had a dream of the Mothman a couple of years ago and i still remember it very well. In the dream it was night time and i was walking back home alone. The moon was bright and night sky was clear. As i was approaching my apartmen building entrance. Something in the night sky caught my attention. When i looked at it. It was a black sphere floating in the air. The next moment two huge black wings emerged from it and two glowing red eyes lit up. Then it the creature dived at me from the air. But somehow i dodged it and when i turned around it flew away into the night sky. In the dream somehow i knew i've encountered The Mothman. I hope i'll never forget that dream. It's very cool to me.

Hey Top 5,s, real talk, I was watching this video and my dad walked in to tell me goodnight and saw the pictures that you used on this video and I could literally see the color drain from his face. I asked him what was wrong and he just walked out of the room, and called both of my uncles (his brothers), and one of his friends. Within 15 minutes all of them showed up here at our house, and my dad told me to show them this video. The same thing happened to all of them, note that my family are all pretty dark Hispanics, and his friend is too, but all of them turned pale as ghosts at the pictures with them all saying that the picture at 1:40 was what really got their attention. They all talked in his room for a while and when they came back they told me that when they were all young, my father 16, and my uncles 15 and 13 they would go to the San Antonio river in our hometown of Goliad, to fish at night. There used to be an old railroad that went over the river, but had not been used since befor they were born. They told me that one night as they were fishing they heard this weird shriek like noise that they said strangely also sounded like a moan, or groan and heavy flapping as if a huge bird was right over them. My middle uncle then said when he looked at the railway that went over the river, he saw something that looked like what was drawn in the picture at 1:40, but said that it had huge glowing reddish- orange eyes. He said he yelled, and ran back up the hill that you had to go down to where they would fish, apparently he turned and ran so fast that his shirt was backwards when he finally got home. My father, younger uncle, and their friend said that they were terrified. My dad said every time he tried to shine his flashlight, or point his .22 pistol at it, it would hide behind the metal frame of the railway, but said it had this greyish-brown color to it from what his flashlight could illuminate of it. He said from what he could tell from the distance it was at, it was huge. Taller then anyone he knows, and we have a family friend who is 6'8 who does weight lifting competitions. He sad after about 8 mins the thing spread its wings, and shrieked/moaned/groaned, and they all took off back home. He said the whole time they saw this thing every dog from around their neighborhood was barking, snarling, and going crazy, and he, his friend, and my uncle swear the whole to me they ran the 2 miles back to my grandparents that they could hear massive flapping behind them, but they said they never looked back to see. When they got back to my grandparents my other uncle was already there which is when they noticed his shirt was backwards. They said they all didnt think anyone would believe them, and swore never to go back to that spot, or talk about it ever again. The whole time they were explaining this to me I could tell they werent making it up on the spot because at times they almost couldn't even speak, with my middle uncle literally shaking as they were explaining this to me. Now mind you, my family is very adept to going camping, hunting at night, going overnight fishing, and always have told stories over the campfire like la llarona (the crying lady), and the story of lechuza...but this was different. My father, and uncles aren't superheroes, but I have never in my 25 Years alive seen them as shooken up as when they told me this. Apparently, I'm the only one they have ever told this to. My father said he hasn't even told this to my mother. It apparently happened back in the mid 80's when they were all teens. This literally was just told to me 11/20/17 At 9:20. I just wanted to share it with you. Really sends a shiver down my spine, and makes me question whats out there.

@arnouth52606 жыл бұрын
Kory Perez First of all I want to make clear that I mean no disrespect to you, your father, uncles and the friend, I simply want to explain how some of the things you said can be explained. While I can’t explain all of them I am pretty sure that they do all have an explanation, but the small amount f knowledge, compared to what mankind already knows, is minuscule. Let me start by explaining something about the human mind. It is a known fact that every time you or anyone else recalls a memory (even subconsciously) they alter it, therefore we can conclude that what your father and uncles are saying is not just possibly or even plausibly, but certainly different from what actually happened. Again no disrespect to them, it is not their fault, it is just how our minds work. There was once an experiment in which people went outside in the night, you see humans have poor night vision, it is not terrible, but compared to for example a cat we are basically blind. But back to the experiment, the people were put during the night on a field (or in a forest) and for a very short time they were shown a rectangular cardboard cutout which was 60 cm (around 2 feet) tall, each and every one of the dozens of people greatly overestimated its size, on average the people guessed that the cardboard was 2 meters (6 feet and 7 inches) tall. So therefore I believe they saw a big snow owl and because of was night they greatly overestimated its size, it could also have been a barn owl, who was protecting her young, if the creature made a hissing sound, it was most likely a barn owl. I hope this explains what the creature was.

You left out the best parts to this story. During and after the mothman sightings some of the largest and most frequent mass sightings of UFO's were recorded in both Point Pleasant and its neighboring town in Ohio. Its also the single largest mass sightings of "men in black" who apparently went door to door telling people to stop talking about it all (While the town in Ohio did see the MIB and UFO's no one claimed to see the mothman outside of Point Pleasant). No idea what actually happened or if its just a good case of mass hysteria but the entire story is incredibly interesting just from the pure volume of people who have claimed to see one thing or another during this peroid.

Haha, I'm here to warn you of a disaster about to happen. I can somehow sense disasters before they come. But can't write a note, talk, or actually land on the bridge in public to bring attention to myself and the problem. I have to be cryptic, scare people in random areas hoping they somehow get the message, and maybe sneak onto the bridge for two seconds and fly away. If you can't tell, I find it hard to believe whatever was here wanted to bring knowledge of a coming disaster.
@Fritter_Films3 жыл бұрын
Mothman, or a mothman like creature, was spotted during Chernobyl, the 9/11 attacks, the Steel Bridge collapse, and a few other disasters that occurred. I believe Mothman doesn’t show himself too much because of his scary appearance, he’s probably good natured and doesn’t want to alarm anyone, considering the mothman prophecies and PTSD people are reported to get after encountering the mothman, but only wants to warn them of the oncoming tragedy.
