Hey guys, it’s the original OpTic Pr3vieW here: Man FormaL saying my name is cool, that’s so dope!! Seriously my head was spinning for a few minutes when I heard that I really appreciate it!! A lot of people won’t know this, but OpTic had a TON of haters back in the day. We were sponsored by a website ladder called NxGamers while everyone else (like 95+% of the cod community) only played on gamebattles. So the majority of the competitive community would always trash us on the gb forums, saying we sucked and we only played on NxGamers because we weren’t good. I never outwardly told anyone this, but the reason I named myself OpTic Pr3vieW was for that reason… I was one of the best players we (OpTic) had. And so I wanted every random encounter that I had inside of a public lobby to show people what OpTic was about. I chose my name specifically to be a “Pr3vieW” of how good OpTic was, against the haters. Along with that I'm proud to say that OpTic Gaming was the only clan I was ever a part of, and ever knew. I never once clan hopped, never joined another clan (before or after), and never left even briefly during whatever little fights we had as 15-20 year old kids. I can say I was and stayed pure Green Blood. Once OpTic switched from competitive to youtube, the competitive side died down and I kind of had nowhere to go. I was too young to afford a computer that could edit videos back then and essentially missed the boat. Hecz started rolling the ball on youtube, building up steam and really made OpTic Gaming into what it is. He says it a lot lol but it's true. I can personally attest that what you see as OpTic Gaming is 100% because of him and what he made of our team. It wasn't J, it wasn't KR3W, it wasn't me (the best player on the cod2 team, way better than On3NOnly), and it wasn't the other original creator of OpTic beside KR3W, who by the way, his name was OpTic Enigma. If anyone has any questions from back then I can do my best to answer them! P.S. To H3CZ, I lowkey still got it a little if you ever wanna run some gbs, or let me special guest an OmoO session one night. You were the best Jr anyone could have asked for. The student has become the master. All love, Roland Please Like this so H3CZ can maybe see it!!! Thank you

@@justinmontalvo2819 I would say no because technically there weren't any "pros" in Call of Duty back then (2006-2009). The only "pro" fps games were like halo, CS, and maybe one or two others. We played competitively on game ladders and did some tournaments though. I did win a few (either 3 or 4) cod2 tournaments when I was with OpTic. But the prizes were always like an xbox game of your choice, a new headset, etc. So if I wanted to stretch it I could maybe get away with Semi-pro lol There was this 1v1 ladder where the winner got a Xbox 360 that was signed by the Infinity Ward/cod2 developers. I came in 2nd and it still haunts me 15 years later

I love the Eavesdrop Podcast. I'm in the UK watching in the middle of the day. Listening to Hector talk about OpTic in the early days, gamertags, and talking about the H3CZQuarters. I love it; these are the conversations we need shown, so people in the future in our Community can look at. Gaming is now the IT thing. In the past, people who had a passion for games were shafted; they were bullied. Nowadays, you can play Games professionally and Stream games as a career. You could have a modern top of the line esports facility and the best players who are Final af. But what's final af? A passion place like the H3CZQuarters, an environment where you can Stream, hang out, make content, and play matches. It's the ultimate place to make content out. Who cares if it isn't the biggest or fanciest. Being in a room where everybody is passionate, hearing callouts, or reading out donations. I would love to be a wallflower at the H3CZQuarters fr. Imagine if they had a 24/7 live feed, muted for privacy, but to have that playing - seeing everybody interact would be cool and inspiring.

I grew up watching optic. the cod team competing, 6050, the scuf house. It was part of my everyday routine. I loved watching a maniac vlog and then watching nade vlog the same day but from a different perspective. Looking back its such a weird situation where I felt like I knew the guys because I was so invested into their everyday lives, yet they had no idea who I was on a personal level. Regardless, memories from that era of optic are some I will never forget.

Formal talking about playing CoD perfectly as a team is an exact thought I’ve had before. About 4 players all learning a specific CoD as if they’re taking a college course in order to learn setups and pushes and counters for literally every hardpoint hill on every map, every push in SND. Every single predictable scenario that you can plan for, this team will do it. It would probably take like 6 months.

When discussing optimal playstyle, playing perfectly, and situation analysis in COD in order to be absolutely final af, it would take longer than the annual life cycle of a cod title. In Halo 5 it started looking like Splyce was reaching that point in 2018 especially thanks to Shotzzy. Shotzzy had hit the skill ceiling on an individual level in that game, not necessarily strategy, but in player movement, map traversal, mechanics essentially. Shyway did a great job of highlighting how efficient Shotzzy was on a map.

47:27 : Formal is spot on & I know many others feel the same - if CoD was taken seriously , it would become the biggest esport in the world. Some people don't prefer dota, some people have no clue what LoL is , CS / Valorant aren't everyone type of games - but EVERYONE knows what Call of Duty is... even if they've never played or haven't in 10 years. It would / will be the Esport in NA that connects major sports teams with organizations (K1 with faze). We are the only Esports league that is community built. We took this from hotel convention rooms to selling out venues..with the absolute bare minimum . If it wasn't for the anomalies this org has apart of it , This league wouldn't exist. Over the last 4 years Activision have developed pros into retirement - C19 was something no one could've predicted, but has nothing to do with blatant lack of effort being put into our league from the developer side. Over the years of terrible decision after another, we have lost our identity as a title. We are not a war-sim , we are not a realistic shooter, and if Microsoft has any braincells - they'll stop half-assing historically "accurate" games. Not having a trophy system for tournaments worth millions due to...realism shows that we are a joke to them. I refuse to believe these devs aren't talented enough and these titles are things they're actually proud of. We are 3-5 years away realistically from rivaling sports franchises in relevancy - we just need a title .. not set in fucking 1960, that the world wants to play and watch.
