What a wonderful film. Here is a man who lives the dharma. Not for him the throne to sit upon, and minions attendant upon him, like some lamas, the kind who give the dharma a bad name, but a leaking roof and a humble attitude. He is the real deal. Thanks for posting this so much.
@Phjghh4 жыл бұрын
If there is no throne sitter lama, how dharma will be spread? Various dharma practitioners are needed. The present yogi must have got teaching from a throne sitter lama before he started meditating. Also, some ppl complaining of large monasteries, If there is no monasteries, how dharma should be preserved? Lamas dont sit on throne during religious to show his highness. It is done because dharma itself is holy and lama himself prostate to the throne before giving teaching.
@rasbijalpatel3104 жыл бұрын
Thubten,Charles Rae,the personal journey is also imp. If a throne brings other things,it may not be necessary for all lamas. Thubten some will always go further taking that to a monastery overseeing. But not all would like that. One such Guru said at the end of his living years that his journey diverted to managing the Ashram when it grew in California. He didn’t like the fact that people don’t pick up the cause and responsibility that goes with it. So we all have to think here Why ??

I've only heard of lamas and ascetic mystics my whole life - it's been a beautiful privilege to listen to one through this film. The absence of pride in this guru tells you all you need to know, that and his absurdist gentle humor. His story and laugh at the end... what can I say? I cried watching him on his "tour", felt as happy to see him as those there and ashamed of my sins. His very presence make better people. And it's not only Buddhists who can find faith here - the lama's self abnegation is mirrored in Jesus' suffering and compassion. All true faiths feature this, speak to the heart. Thank you.

The story he told at end of video is excellent . India is a land of gurus, all these gurus pointing their finger to same direction but we Indians looking to his hand not the knowledge. In india this great knowledge is still not taught in school. People are going behind western knowledge which is imperfectly synthesised from the scraps of ancient Indian wisdom
@meditating0104 жыл бұрын
Do not identify with a culture, tradition - they are identities that you have to transcend eventually. Whatever India gives receive it and give it to others who *listen*. If west provides good things for you - practice and apply it, its just false knowledge. Like he said in video, its a cloud, you have to clear the cloud - use your viveka/intellect to cut through all the bull shit but don't hurt others in process.

@paul w What the lama pointed to was something more profound then just being sure of going from place A to B. if one is so much in control of ones mind, can he predict what thought will arise in his own mind say 5 hours and 20 minutes from now. Can he be sure if he will fall sick or not 10 days from now. Come to think of it no one can control their very own bodies from taking birth ,growing old or dying. Buddhist wisdom lies in realizing that all entities are impermanent, unstable, change randomly and are purposeless in the ultimate sense. So yes a true monk would work very hard for the society but he would also be free of worldly plans and desires of moving there, staying here, going there etc.
@kiney07134 жыл бұрын
@@589139chhotu OK, purposelessness in the "ultimate sense" (whatever that may mean) is well, "OK". But then, one needs purpose and direction and doing what dharma one needs to do. And being moral in this life AND being PRODUCTIVE in this life is a part of the dharma, and is necessary, right? Whatever happens after this life is all conjecture and mumbo-jumbo - and even if true (again, whatever that means), what value is in it for anyone except the person who "self-realized", ran away from 'this world' and sorta floated away? And arguably "attained" that flotation at the very high cost of family and earthly responsibilities. Seriously, I'd like some substantative gyans/wisdom.

I love Tibetan Buddhism!! There's no end to it ! Always interesting. But all you really need to know is "All is comfortable" ... say it over and over again. Like Milarepa.

I could not sleep....so I woke up and checked You Tube and the very first video was about The Holy Yogi....it started slow but it became interesting gradually and powerful. I was waiting to see the Holy Man but even more thrilled when he started tok explain in English and the soft spoken mannerisms and the way he laughed....I am so fortunate to witness this greatness through your video. Stay blessed. I wish to work hard on enlightenment and search for God with The Gurus help. How do I get books on Milarapa....I live in Dubai.

India is blessed with many such spiritual beings. But sometimes it is a double edged sword. Fake gurus are a pain, but it is also our karmas which eventually help us find the real guru and GOVIND.
@Religionfree6 жыл бұрын
world watch yes...corruption spread everywhere.but there are many authentic ascetics...a right disciple gets right guru @ right time....it's an inner call of blessing.keep your objectives pure with a big mind ... You will find only the right guru.

If you can understand real Guru, real enlightened being, than you can recognize fake Guru in matter of minutes. Some real gurus who have videos on KZbin: Sadhguru, Osho, Dandapani, Alan Watts, Eckhart tolle, Jiddu Krishnamurti, S.N Goenka and there are more. If you can understand depth of any of these real enlightened beings than it will be very easy for you to recognize real guru just by listening them.

There is so much compassion in this great yogi's eyes... One who has experienced the divine can show such compassion. This great yogi's composure did not change one bit. His patience, genuine compassion, and kindness is absolutely divine!

We should all be so lucky to meet a lama like this. And then, try to practice just as well. The best lama is the one who takes care of the common people, like this one. What he says about compassion -- around 24:00 -- is almost same thing my teacher, Lhodrak Terton, used to say about himself, which was, "I have no qualities. But I do have some genuine compassion for others. This is why people come to me, they feel the compassion." I want to be just like this guy.
