I would say Katabuchi is closer in style and intent to Takahata than Miyazaki, though very much his own director

Beautiful pilot. I'm a huge fan of Princess Arete (it's one of my favorite anime movies) so I'm glad to see Mr. Katabuchi team up again with Akira Senjū, as well as get closer to a rounder character design. Good luck!

@@taea7754 アニメってやろうと思えば幾らでも手を抜ける。例えば一人一人を映すということも出来る。 お箸なんてものは、作画量がやばいので大抵の作品は、顔から上だけ映すとか普通にある。 そして、見て分かる通り、口パクじゃない。 5人同時に体動かして。というのは、誤魔化しに逃げずに、作画量をこなしている。ということ。 且つ二人(夫婦?)は会話してるから、動きを会話としてシンクロさせる必要が有る。 それでも納得が難しいようでしたら、自分で描いてみることをおススメします。 描いてみるという行動力が、自然と尊敬や賞賛に変わると思います。

​@@leebedrouni9578 It was most likely changed because some publisher in the west already owns rights to the novel "How do you live?" (Real-life japanese novel which Mahito; the Boy in the movie is reading)
