Ive always LOVED the first movie but I CANNOT STAND the second one. In the second one they threw away the whole premise of "haunted doll is actually just a dude in the walls" and decided "haunted doll is haunted"...Love your video!

One of my absolute favourite things about the first film is originally Brahms didnt have a mask, but when they did test screenings alot of audience members said he was too hot to be scary so they had to CGI the mask in after filming. And ironically, alot of people find hes even hotter with the mask

I fucking LOVE this movie. She’s literally living in a “dollhouse,” perfect mansion, all provided for, but you cannot have a life of your own and a specter looms over you all the time. All about domestic violence!!! And the detail about the abusive ex boyfriend is not there randomly!!!!! God I love this movie and so many people just throw it away as silly

honestly i think the sequel completely missed an opportunity for dramatic irony by making the doll actually haunted by Brahms this time. The twist of the first was that the doll was just an inanimate object being manipulated by a regular-degular ass man, so having him actually be haunting the doll would've been a fun twist of fate in the sequel but noooo it's just some demon 💀

Personally I like the subversion from a paranormal ghost story. If you’re going that route why would it matter much if it’s possessed by a ghost or a demon ? It’s two different stories but it’s still the same narrative.
@toastiest.the.mostiest
@toastiest.the.mostiest 14 күн бұрын
@@dolphinswilltakeover I see the point you're trying to make, it does seem a little odd at first that I'm for the idea of ghostly possession but don't like the demonic storyline the movie took. Personally, I think the second movie kind of ruined the more contained, psychological vibe of the first by making the doll itself behind everything. In the second movie, the doll is something that's been passed down from generation to generation and has been responsible for causing violent behavior in every child that's owned it, one of which being Brahms. The second movie turns human Brahms from a disturbed, sick man to a victim completely controlled by his doll. I personally don't like it since I think it ends up undermining what made the first movie scary in the first place. And honestly, I think that the general premise of the second movie isn't much different than what I suggested. Like you said, there's not much difference between a demonic possession and a ghostly possession, which is why I think the filmmakers could have just cut out the demon middleman and put Brahms in that slot instead. They'd still have the haunted doll storyline and have the ghost of Brahms be influencing the young boy to act violently without jumping the shark and telling the audience that, surprise, even though we spent the entire last movie building up to the fact that the doll wasn't haunted, it was actually haunted the whole time by a demon. I just generally think that the filmmakers missed a very big opportunity to tie in with the previous movie in a much better manner than what we got. Sorry if this is lengthy and all over the place, I don't want to argue or anything, I'm just really oddly passionate about the size of the opportunity that was missed with this sequel 😭

That’s the most cliche’ thing as a plot twist that has been done to death. “Inanimate object or thing has been haunted by the main antagonist this whole time?!” Plus it doesn’t add much to the plot. I like it when Horror stories subversive horror tropes (if done correctly) instead of sticking to the formula

I absolutely love this movie. They touched upon almost every trope but then expanded it. Instead of lingering on the mystery of the doll being haunted/not, they straight up imply that the doll is moving by itself. Then they have the "no one believes the protag/thinks their crazy" trope with Malcolm & Cole but it only lasts for like a minute for the twist completely destroy the supernatural angle all together. It was SUPER refreshing, especially with compared to those Annabelle films

The thing is... I enjoyed this film. I'm a monster girlie over a slasher girlie. But this... This one did. And then when I looked the clip and I noticed the comments and edits started popping up. I was like oh they got something here. I think they knew because they did a contest on Wattpad that next year.

@@saphirestorm7952 good point, that makes logical sense- just the positioning of the doll in the bed and the way it's not covered/tucked in just has some darker undertones imo Obviously it's not fully confirmed and it's totally up to interpretation, though that along with listening to her throughout the house is creepy *and* pervy, in my opinion, totally cool if that's not your take on it though 👍

I LOVED this movieeee.. when Brahms came out with his stinky cardigan through the wall I was like "OH NO! HE'S HOT!".. I mean hell they did the hand thing they needed to know what that would have done 😭.. Also just this pull of a possible child's soul, missing their caretaker and depending on you.. it makes you so.... maternal... terrified but you cant leave this kid alone (especially because Greta is grieving her miscarriage) ... and the fact it's ACTUALLY some guy in the walls makes the scare genuinely WORSE. You lost both your child figure and your fear was replaced with something more immediate... It's GREAT. Second movie doesnt exist in my book

But once they did the sequel, i got so fucking pissed because it undid and severely ruined everything the first movie did so well. Like some things just DON'T need continuations, they should have left it alone.
