THE MOVIE THEATER EXPERIENCE IS OVERRATED | Double Toasted Bites - Drive Thru (or drive-in) movie theaters are becoming popular again especially for stand-up, and people are wondering when will regular movie theatres open again, but we are here to tell you that typing "movie theatres near me open?" is unnecessary as the experience in general is not worth it! You might get hyped up by a trailer or two, or need to watch a film to review, but when movie theaters become similar to a very popular scene in the Gremlins, maybe it's time to consider home is the new go-to! We explain why, with GREAT anger from Korey Coleman.
Subscribe to Double Toasted Bites for funny movie reviews, movie trailers, current events and more livestreamed all throughout the week!

I remember back when I was a kid we had ushers that not only would help you find a seat but would bounce people out who were being noisy or causing a ruckus. And when the movie started those doors were close, no coming in late.

Coleman hit the nail on the head. Years ago, I went to the midnight showing of Spider-Man 3. About halfway through the movie (one o'clock in the morning), a five year old kid was running up and down the isles shooting the characters on the screen yelling "POW, POW, POW!" His parents did nothing to stop him. That was the last midnight showing of a movie I ever attended. Since then, I only went to matinees. 9 or 10 am movie showings on a weekday when parents are at work and kids are in school or at the babysitter.

It sucks that we’re the ones that have to go out of our way just to avoid these type of people, when it’s the theater’s job to prevent these types of disrupting behavior.
@starbrand3726

@@kokif6490 The last movie I saw in theaters was Avengers Endgame. It was an iconic movie that I had to see in theaters. But... Naturally someone ruined it. A family came in (late of course). Father, Mother, two small kids, and... an infant. I could handle the two small kids talking, I could handle the constant sound of snack bags rattling, but when the infant started crying NONSTOP I lost it. And when I say infant, I mean this baby was only a few months old. So, Avengers Endgame was ruined because that family couldn't get a babysitter or find a condom last year.

Yeah I can't take parents bringing their kids to non kiddie films... like if you're seeing Frozen or some other G rated for kids film, I expect kids to be their crying etc. But when you're watching an R rated film... get a babysitter and if you can't then you shouldn't be watching the 8pm showing- it's rude. There is NO justification for that behavior. It's pure selfishness. I stopped going to the theater before the pandemic after I went to see IT and teenagers were on their phone and talking. I told them to be quiet and they kept chatting, I had to check myself because I was going to curse out teens and it wasn't worth it. I'll stream thank you very much.

One of the worst theater experiences I've ever had is when I watched Jordan Peele's US. I went opening day around 2pm(My theater doesn't get busy until much later) it was nearly empty, it was perfect UNTIL... Right as the movie started this teen couple decides to sit right behind me and every time a jumpscare happened the girl would start screaming "AWW HELL NAH!" & Kick the chair next to me. The guy told her to be a bit more quiet but all she said was "I don't give a F*CK I paid for my ticket!"

Okay Korey, show me on the doll where theaters touched you. Kidding aside, As for me, my favorite theater is a small town theater where I watch movies early before the crowds. Now it is a hassle to drive there (but I hate going out the house anyway and driving and just humans in general) but compare to multiple expensive streaming subscriptions is much preferable plus not having a Gigantic screen at home to enjoy the special effects and cinematography, streaming misses out on that with a regular size plasma tv, at least with theaters you get a once in a lifetime chance to see it big. Plus not really liking the idea of everything going digital since unlike physical copies it eliminates the languages options, have yet to see Netflix offer multiple languages other than English. Now I see the upside of streaming and able to put movies from your phone to a tv .. but I prefer to pirate that instead since is easy and only looking for a specific movie.

The biggest thing that made movie experience fun was theatrical only releases of movies. Which the last one of those i remember was watchman tons of People got up and left as soon as that big blue sausage was up on screen swinging around when he was giant. Deadpool as well people brought their kids too and many left as soon as they realized what kind of movie it was. Then you got to babysitter less parents who bring these little babies who are crying throughout the movie they don't want to bother to take them out of theater to take care of them. You got the people who bring in their own food. When I went to watch aquaman this woman next to me she sits down she pulls out the dam Tupperware out of her purse and starts chowing down. Then there was a movie I went and saw I can't remember what where this woman brought in big Popeyes chicken meal for her and her brood via her purse then leaving the mess Then you got those that treat it like their own home they kicking off their shoes their feet stink, or they on their bright cellphone throughout the movie.

Your age is starting to show, ive lived in NC and Now Florida both have a dollar theater ive been to and they are never as bad as Corey says his regular theater experience is. Ive been to theaters with loud teenagers but its usually one out of every 10-15 movies i see in one theater. and they are way safer than a grocery store, you dont have to touch items that 100's of strangers touch, they sanitize the auditorium and the seats and the air is not circulated like Martin thinks.
