I remember being at a really dark place in my life when this song came out. I wasn't part of the tik tok trend as I too am incredibly easily distracted. But honestly this song when it was on soundcloud, the only app that my parental block bricked phone had, made me smile. It was catchy and it had a message at the end I could really feel, although a lot different than Tom's perspective, the lyrics were really important to me. My son had just turned 1 when the muffin song came out. I was hooked (been a fan for years) so I was listening to it in the kitchen while making dinner. Suddenly, my wife says, "Turn around!" and my son is dancing and laughing in the dining room. He's bobbing up and down and having the time of his life! One of his first words was 'Muffin' and even now he still loves it. Kinda feel like a bad dad occasionally... but he has no idea and it's so cute :P

Somewhere in the past 5 years i started having suicidal obsessions. while i didn't know, they often qouted the muffin song. My suicidal thoughts said i want to die, please someone kill me (not in the happy muffin way). The muffin song had little to do with my suicidal ideations. The pandemic and [pre pandemic social isolation] had drove me into a dark place.

Nice to see someone actually explain their depressive issues -- in this case suicidal ideation. Most people just say "I was feeling abit down" which to me either feels disingenuous or like their just labeling listlessness as depression. I personally have SI, and the thing people rarely get is the difference between it and intent. But ya, my brain just hates existance, but I'm also too spiteful to let it win -- that's the way I can best explain it.

im glad that you explained your suicidal ideation, i have much of the same experiences in my own life and its quite hard to explain to people that at many points i was thinking about dying without actually doing it. some think its actually being suicidal, some think its just normal. im really glad that your experience is similar to mine and that its not unique to me, its really reassuring. thank you for sharing, that was very brave.

@Evelyn 21 y.o - check my vidéó He did it to create arguably funny videos, which is possibly worse, but 8 year old's tend to grasp death and the fact that taking ones life is wrong somehow. Said 8 year old also probably got paid and still is probably gaining royalties from muffin merchandise so i would not think that much regret for anyone in the productions actions factored.

I remember when "It's muffin time" came out. The content just resonated with me since I knew what happened through the many years I've been following you and the others. I felt sad knowing that the end was close, but also glad you could get this message out for people to get : the exhaustion, the disconnect, things rapidly changing around you... But when the song went viral on TikTok etc, I felt disgusted. People were turning this song into a funny meme song and turning it into cringe compilations, completely stripping it out of the message that it carried. I was angry. But look at that, with all the memes sparking out of nowhere, the interest suddenly came back and allowed you to expand, create and do even more than a random dude telling people about the real meaning and message behind the song would ever do. I've been a fool all along, and I'm glad to have been one. The internet is a wonderful place, and I'm very glad you're still around.
