I was raised in a family full of Rob Zombie lovers, and I was the lone person who was like, "...Well, I like his music." I mean, I enjoy House of 1000 Corpses, but it's by no means anywhere close to my favorite horror movie, and it's the only one of his filmography that if I'm channel surfing and I see it I might just casually turn to it. I am going to have to brave the possibility of being disowned when I tell my family that this movie is actually my favorite Rob Zombie movie. The PG Romcom based off The Munsters. I would still rather just watch the actual show if I'm given an option between the two, but like... this movie is actually really cute and might end up becoming a Halloween tradition for me. I just love the sets and the costumes so much, even if the story is just kinda meh.

I dig it and I agree with most points you mention. It's very much like the show and the bad comedy is purposeful. I give it a 7/10. I can't get over how you perfectly emulate Rob Zombie. The first video gave me an uncanny valley effect. I was like "How is Rob Zombie dancing down Andy's basement stairs and goofing on himself?". It seriously took me a while to figure out it wasn't him.

I might’ve not liked this adaptation, but I can definitely tell that Rob and the entire crew were very passionate about the project and they had to make due with the very small budget done by Universal’s straight to video label (which I hate that label to be honest). The makeup effects done for The Munsters and other creatures in the film were honestly great, the wardrobe looked great especially the house and Dr. Wolfgang’s lab. I know Sheri wasn’t great as Lily and same goes for Jeff as Herman, but gosh dang it they were trying and I appreciate it. Also Daniel Roebuck was the standout as Grandpa Munster aka The Count, and he looks really good with that mustache. My biggest issue is definitely the script and of course the runtime, the film is too short for the plot lines to flourish and develop especially the character development for Herman and Grandpa and the conflict at hand. If this was given to a pair of writers who’ve worked on horror comedies and are big fans of The Munsters, I think the film would’ve gone down better than it did. Also if this was a prequel to the show, I would’ve casted newcomers (who’re a little young) to portray Herman and Lily and I’d still keep Daniel as Grandpa cause again he’s the best part of the film. Also I kinda wished the film had a little more edge, but of course still keeping the goofy and good nature of the original series in my opinion. Also if they ever make an animated film of The Munsters, they need to hire Brad Garrett and Cassandra Peterson as Herman and Lily, I’d pay to watch it.

great video Andy! I agree with you on every point on this film, I don't feel it deserves the hate it has gotten, but some jokes do fall flat. The only thing I would add is I feel they made Herman's eyeshadow a bit too heavy and dark. Keep up the great work Andy, and good luck in the contest!

The Rob Zombie getting back up scene reminded me of Weekend at Bernie's. I'm yet to see the movie, but the visuals do captivate me, I always imagined the munters would be colorful on the original series, since they were mocking the Universal Monsters, from what I saw on your review, looked like Zombie tried to made a little like Dario Argento with strong colors. Honestly, I kinda have to admit that I love this movie. I am a Munsters nut and while the film isn't perfect, I love seeing the franchise back in the spotlight and Rob actually being so faithful to the source material and character designs. Is it cheesy? Hell yes? The TV show was too and so was the more than a dozen specials and TV Movies from the original series, all of which were in color. Hell, I even watched and liked the Mockingbird Lane Reboot because it still didn't take itself too seriously and gave the Munsters a new spin. Honestly, If Mockingbird Lane was put out on Hulu today, it would probably be a lot more popular than when it first aired and really think it was underappreciated.

When I was a kid, I preferred The Adams Family reruns instead of The Munsters. I really didn’t have much of a itch to watch this movie. Well it was halfway there, it was passable. All the costumes and props and the lights Rob used to pop the sets more was a great choice. He IS a good director but not a good writter.
