I think the message of the movie is that pushing away and hiding family problems without acknowledging or dealing with them can lead to huge problems. Like cobwebs. You can dust them all away, but unless you actually deal with the spider it will keep happening until...you can't stop it at all anymore. I think that's the symbolic reason for the third act craziness. The parents locked the sister away when she likely just freaked them out with her appearance and that abandonment and all the gaslighting they do to avoid their serious problems turned her into an actual monster.
@kyrauniversal Жыл бұрын
Exactly! It reminds me of the most saddest game I ever saw played. A horror game called "You Are Grounded" where a child lives in the basement of his parents, after his dad killed his mom for "making a devil child" and loses so much of himself, not even having a mirror to look at, that he turns into a monster.

Father insisted that he build our home over an abandoned Mineshaft out in the middle of nowhere, where he would then throw all of his children down the hole. It was those of us who had the will and strength to climb back up that he would consider us worthy to be raised as one of his own. Mother packed me a brown bag of tuna fish sandwiches, Doritos and a few juice boxes for the trip...

Andy, it's good to see you review Cobweb. Lionsgate screwed this movie with zero advertising. I only happened upon it looking up movies that were coming soon and thought the poster looked interesting. Lucky for me it was playing near me. As for you assessment, you are over thinking it. The reason she couldn't get out was she had no leverage. Her body is tall and gangly confined in a cramped space.

From the review it reminds me a little of that Lights Out movie that was made from the short. The premise was great, and the set up was terrific, only to be let down by the extended version. (or, and this is controversial, the same could be said about It Follows)

SPOILERS! The reveal was explained, there is a shot when Peter is looking at his bed. It changes from being disgusting to clean. This is a fantasy horror from the POV of a psychotic killer. Peter. There is no Sister in the Wall. It's a story about the mental breakdown and psychosis of a movie horror villain, Peter. Why I love this movie, yet so many take what they are seeing as what is actually happening.

It is true what you say about word of mouth. I was going to stay home that weekend, because neither Barbie nor Oppenheimer seemed like my type of movie. Then saw a couple of KZbin reviews tells me about Cobweb. Decided that this sounds like my type of movie, so went to see this instead, and really enjoyed it. Thought it was a fun horror movie, and gave it an A. And even though we don't agree on this, still enjoyed your video. The police chase really cracked me up, specially the driving in circles. 😂🤣😂🤣 Thank you, Andy.

I found this pretty good the climax has some holes like the supernatural strength and such but I was able to look past that for the most part because to me it was one of those typical horror movie things. By typical I mean the whole couple has a deformed mutant off spring so I wasnt to bothered by it this is less a straight horror movie and more a dark fairy tale thriller flick.

Ending Spoilers: I think the movie was decent. However, it would be better if they explained more about Sarah. They could have easily thrown in something about the supernatural or the parents messing with the devil/paranormal.....just a little something. I like the ending for I believe Peter made it out. However, his sister scares him one last time telling him that he is scarred for life. At least, that's how I saw it.

This movie actually wasn't that bad. Pretty decent. Especially after most of the shitty remake and sequel horror movies these days, it's nice to get an original film once and awhile. I really enjoyed this movie for the most part, the production design, the acting and atmosphere was really engaging. I only kind of wish the ending wasn't as abrupt and cliche as it was. Like you could have at least added 5 or 10 extra minutes to get the point of the kid's trauma across without having the psycho spider rapunzel lady exposit it to the audience.

SPOILER DON’T READ IF HAVEN'T SEEN. My major problem with the movie is I can overlook plot holes as most only serve to set up just the single scene and not the entire movie (though it should). BUT I couldn’t over look the fact that the parents was aware of their existence the entire time. Feeding it, protecting against it; but refuse to believe their kid at all. I understand it’s trying to say family problems and that even when the parents are aware they still ignore it but they could’ve handled that better imo. Having the boy slightly more not there mentally wouldve made a bigger impact along without guessing the twist 15 minutes in. The only thing I could think of while watching was the Simpsons treehouse of horror, evil twin episode with a Barton Hugo.

My interpretation is that she is either girl possessed by a witch or a demon. She can somewhat possess the parents, and she killed the other girl and parents knew. They didn't want to kill their daughter. I kind of like how they left it up to interpretation and really enjoyed it. I would have like more scenes like the clip you showed of the mom but found the athomosphere and sister creepy enough.
