This is a rare clip from the 97-minute UK cut of 'The Muppet Movie', shown only in British theatres in 1979 and once on VHS. This scene features additional Crazy Harry explosions not included in the US/international cut as well as a different soundtrack over the credits.

Don't forget Mike and Patty Peraza who are Disney animation veterans. They were Emmet and Ma Otter from the Jugband Christmas special. Also, they were classmates at CalArts before they're married. I find it extremely astounding that some of the CalArts members at the time got their dream opportunity to work with THE Jim Henson (aside Walt Disney, my idol) for the fantastic tribute to him in the final rainbow shot.

And also Ed Ghertner from Disney. I just knew from one of his interviews. I wonder to myself, what character did he get to perform for the shot? Too bad the extra finale puppeteers are not credited because the late 70's is the time when closing credits jumped in the bandwagon. It's really awesome to see some of the people discuss about their memories of working with Mr. Henson and his main puppeteers for the shot. It is perfect.

I know from the comments in the Jim Henson tribute page in Mike Peraza's blog that Paula Sigman from Disney Character Voices had also got the gig too. What character did she act out? And also Gregory Williams from the LA Guild of Puppetry. Which character did he get the role as?

I love this song. It’s stayed with from when I was little. I relate to Fozzie so much. This song has made me cry so much in my life time. I have a full muppet encyclopedia at my house. I cried when I heard Kermit sing Rainbow Connection for the first time. I watched the muppet movies in an odd order, ending with the first one. I bawled my eyes out yesterday when I found the lyrics to the song on an old google doc I had. I love muppets so much. Whoever tells me that it’s childish, has a punch to the face coming to them. I almost we teared up at them singing the ending. Also the credits are hilarious.

I have the muppet movie on VHS and it's not this ending they use. The DVD release features an English-language audio track and a French audio track. In the French version, an alternate version of the musical track for the closing credits can be heard (in which the piece written for the credits is heard in its entirety instead of the music being looped). The French version also has the music edited differently during the "Rainbow Connection" finale (after the sound stage is destroyed and the rainbow starts to creep through the hole in the ceiling).

You see how many Muppets they used at the end? If you read the new bio on Jim Henson, they had 150 extra puppeteers come in thru a casting call for them to hold one, maybe two of the Muppets. Two of the people were Tim Burton and John Landis. You also can see some Sesame Street Muppets there, plus the Otter Jug Band (a special Jim did before the Muppet Movie), and his SNL muppets too.

The whole gang watches all the explosions. He even proceeds to stop the execution. 1:43 The final explosion results in Evil Cane getting defeated, and then Evil Cane explodes, and at the same time, the big tank bursts, and we see the gang watching the hole in the studio. Alphie congragulates himself for saving Pomni. 2:08 The gang joins together as a real rainbow shines down into the hole, singing together, with all of the characters from Glitch's shows. 2:55 One of the characters rip thru the projection screen and the gang share their thoughts. 5:40 The candy gator says "Go Home! Go Home! Bye bye..." And faints. After this scene: We see a scene where Pomni says goodbye to the gang and leaves the circus, thus starting a new life. "Your New Home" Plays. We zoom out, to reveal the world, the computer, and finally... The Words "The Amazing Digital Circus". Then, the credits roll. After this, we see the logos. In the Fanmade Nickelodeon version if DNA Productions along with O entertainment got revived, after seeing the Gooseworx and Glitch logos, we see the O Entertainment Logo, in which we hear someone say "O!", and the DNA Productions Logo. This time, we see the Missing Paul version, in which we see that Paul isn't there and we hear a man saying "Paul?". We see the Nickelodeon logo, the music plays, and we hear Jimmy Neutron say "Gotta Blast!" The episode ends.

Even though I've been used to the American version of the film's end credits, I prefer this version - you could hear what the characters are saying. The American release drowns out the dialogue with the "Can You Picture That?" part of the credit music (which is repeated a few times before Animal says "GO HOME!!!!" as opposed to playing only once as heard here)

I'm confused. This IS the original ending save for a bit more explosion, a slightly differing soundtrack and a slightly differing end dialogue. The set always fell down after explosions, the rainbow came in, and after the end title letters, the monster broke through the screen revealing the cinema with everyone chatting.

The explosion sequence is shortened in most later releases. Also the music drowns out most of the voices in the credits sequence and is a shorter sequence looped over a couple of times.
