I can't tell you how much fun I had doing this show. My husband and I were in London for a week taping this show, then took a driving tour of Europe and we "found my roots" where my father lived as a child in Arzo, Switzerland. It was a great trip... and on the plane over to London to do this show, we sat with Ringo Starr and Donald Pleasance. What a great memory! XOXO Ruthie

Ruth Buzzi You know what's funny? I first saw this skit when I was probably around 8 years old and it always stuck with me for 20 years. I even remembered your name specifically which helped me look it up. Strange how it never really leaves you.

They've really improved Sweetum's functionality. His face is more expressive and he can move both arms now.

They had the waldo technology as far back as 1976? I thought that came out with _Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas_ .

Sweetums reminds me of one of my old motorcycle riding buddies. My old boss looked a bit like Fozie Bear. Ruth Buzzi was one of the funniest gals on TV back then So was Carol Burnett. Sweetums rules!

He's played almost the same as Big Bird: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZrVZGpnhdF3etE There are major differences, however. There is no wire to make both hands move at once, so one arm remains lifeless. Of course, in scenes where de doesn't talk, Sweetums can then move both arms. The eyes and eyelids are operated by radio control. And there's no television monitor inside, so the performer has to extensively rehearse outside the costume/puppet to get it right. Richard Hunt was a talented and exuberant guy. May he rest in peace.

Hi! I don't know if you're going to see this comment, but I thought you might be interested to know that there's a biography about Richard Hunt scheduled to come out this fall (2023). It's written by J. max Stein, and there's more info posted on Muppetwiki.
