Holy crap! It's bad enough you've taken their lands. You kicked them out and placed them in a crappy area. Then killed them again bc that heap of crap is valuable to you! WTF!!! I mean, how f*ckin evil can you people be?

mavz - there were certainly many evil people in this sad business. These crimes could not have taken place without massive corruption. However there were white people who tried to help, some who paid with their lives.

@@cmebans35 Native people including the Osage aren't minorities. We are the Indigenous people who were originally living here. We don't go by the same standards as other minorities. We are defined by our sovereignty, culture and languages. We were also slaves and then colonized. The first black people were transported here under slavery originally. Only their descendants are not immigrants. There are many communities of African people living in the U.S. who are not descendants of slaves and they're immigrants like other minorities from Asia, etc.

+Bexley Outpost I see that were I and most European Americans are in life is a direct a result of what our ancestors did to our minority brothers and sisters. I would not be living on my property if my great-great-great grandfather had not been part of expelling the Cherokee Nation from what is now my land. Our history IS indeed a complex story with no easy answers. Nevertheless, we should at least admit there is an issue. You sound like you hold the same view of "Manifest Destiny" that my ancestors held. Anyhow, thanks for the comment.

The ending dragged a little bit for me, but still a fascinating story. Sad that the federal government deemed Natives too incompetent to access their own money and that the Osage had to have white caretakers to oversee their finances. Just goes to show the feds don’t have the people’s best interest at heart.

I always believed that the number 1 fear of immigrants traveling west into the unsettled land of these young United States was the fear that the Indians would end up killing them. This was indeed a concern with the journey, and it is only recently I heard that the immigrants stood a greater chance of dying while crossing rivers in their travels from New York to the Northwest Territory. The truth about the Native Americans or, American Indians , will always be contorted as the story is passed on generation to generation. To truly know the existence and history of the American Indians, one would have had to live it.

Reparation should be awarded to all Native Americans and a appointee be made head of the country, a native king or queen should be appointed as ruler of the USA and congress who have high power in politics to see over the Senate the house and the White House. a type of mediator who looks at the legislation the bills been brought forward for law and if they're not happy send them back and ask them to re amended.

"Original sin from which the country was born"? If conquest is original sin, then all of humanity is formed on original sin. There is not a territory in the world that was not taken by conquest, by any people. Not justifying anything. Just stating what is obvious about all nations worldwide.
