Jon Batiste is more knowledgeable and understands music, feelings, emotion, joy, technique and love better than any professor of music with all the PHD degrees. He should be given an honorary doctorate, because he is so brilliant. He not only understands more than 99% of the musically gifted but he conveys it to anyone so effortlessly and with so much joy and love ❤️

None of the incredible works from the late 19th century to the present day would be possible without gospel and blues. And even before that, from the plantation songs by the enslaved, question and answer. The sounds that dictated the rhythm of work in plantation songs distilled pain and hopelessness into blues, and redemption and joy into gospel. The USA owes a large part of its musical culture to thousands of people who were taken from their lands to work in subhuman conditions. This debt will not be repaid in a million years. The same thing happened here in Brazil. Anyway, peace to all!

Music can ignite all parts of the brain at the same time. Music is the only medium that can. Music connects across brqin hemispheres. It's why a dementia can rob the current memories but not the distant ones. Jon has lit a fire under my ass. To write & compose. And this time only for me.
