That main gangster we see looks like a dead ringer for James Cagney. Cagney grew up in an extremely rough neighborhood that was filled with very real gangsters and he frequently had to get into fights, and that lent well to his on-screen tough guy persona. I wonder if Cagney ever saw this film.
