Step 1. Open up a bivalve of some sort Step 2. Fill its viscera with fake, perfectly spherical and way, way oversized pearls Step 3. Glue the shell of the dead bivalve back shut near the edges where the intact adductor muscles would be on a living one Step 4. Plant the dead bivalve in some random easily accessible place they don't live naturally Step 5. Open the dead bivalve again on video and remove the fake pearls Step 6. Profit This is also used as a tourist trap in some places where tourists are allowed to open clams and buy the pearls they find for a seemingly low price, except they're instead way overpaying for fake pearls.

Also, it woukd be a risk to hunt wild clams since you don’t know if there are pearls or not. It’s also probably illegal.

That's probably not a genuine pearl. I have seen genuine pearls and it's not perfectly spherical in shape. I'm sure they just put the pearl inside the mussels after they opened it, then video again as if the pearl was really there in the very beginning :D. The video was not focused on the shell while the girl was opening it. You can watch real vs fake pearls here in youtube so you will believe what I am saying.
