Parasites, are huge nerds. You know it, I know it, We all know it. However, Mutations caused by parasites are something that shouldn't be ignored. If an other species can induce limb growth in another that would indicate critical areas of the host genome is being tampered with and further down the line, that could be useful. In the events of Zoochosis, this appears to be the reasoning behind the experiments and the creature known as "mother". In todays episode, lets discuss this parasite and the implications concerning its parasitic mutations!

What's also quite interesting: you can actually see right from the Beginning that something isn't right with the Zoos King Penguins because some of them instead of having yellow Feathers on the Head, have those weird blue ones. This probably means that the Parasite is struggling a bit with Birds or maybe non mammalian Hosts in general

So, my theory on how they change so quickly is that they partially liquify themselves reverting their cells to a pluripotent stat then re-assigning them accordingly allowing for rapid biological changes without the extreme metabolic requirements.

Reminds me of the Yeerks from the Animorph series. A bunch of large parasitic slugs that hijack brains. The only prerequisite is that theirs a direct path and the brain is large enough. The Yeerk enters the ear and latches onto the brain, flattens out and turns into a semi-liquid to cover the brain to pilot it. It’s not a full control sort of thing as the Yeerks are victims to the ticks and instincts of the brain they’re attached to and the consciousness of the host is completely active and if the Yeerk has a lapse in concentration the host might gain some small control back usually just a hand or some movement in the face

Watched a long form video of someone else playing this game with no context, and they accidentally made me feel really bad, and a little dense lol. When they came across their first transformed infected they only lost one wallaby, and that’s it for the whole game. Add in that my first instinct was a lethal injection as that was the first response I could think of when it popped up. But they remembered the experimental cure and somehow was able to get it done. Without tranq darts. At least till they got to the penguins and did it only for the final heart cause they didn’t trust hitting em in the air. Was cute and cool to see em charge at the infected penguin every time they saw it land and go for a penguin. But hey saved all six

Not sure if you’ve already done them but I have a couple suggestions: - The reaper virus from doomsday - the movie “badland hunters” - doesn’t have zombies or anything but it’s centered around a mad Korean scientist trying to artificially accelerate human evolution by experimenting specifically and only on children for a reason only sort of explained in the movie (thought it would be an interesting video to explain what exactly is happening)

I'm so happy that I came up with similar conclusions with, especially with regards to the Hox❤ The comment i made on the one gaming channel with regards to explaining the genetic side of things was this: Fun fact & a bit of speculation from a geneticist: The HoX genes are in all animals: They’re a group of House-Keeping genes/Homeobox genes, which code for enzymes/protiens (transcription factors) that are associated with the body-plan development of living things during the embryonic stage, specifically along the anterior to posterior positions (head-to-toe) To simplify what I’m talking about: House-Keeping genes are basically genes that tell other genes in what to do in order to maintain a cell and they also Can tell stem cells what they should turn into; like you’ll be a liver cell (so they only activate the genes associated with the liver and turn off the rest) As for the HoX genes themselves are a group of Home-Keeping/Homeobox genes (there’s other kinds of House-Keeping genes & all the various HoX genes a subcategory under it) There are different kinds of HoX (like we see on the board; HoxA, HoxB2, etc) Every different type of HoX is incharge of coding for proteins/enzymes that tell the cell it resided in, what position the cell itself is in with regards to the organisms body; and therefore these specific protiens/enzymes go along the DNA & will decide determine which genes will be activated/deactivated What this means for the game: 1. Mother can only infect animal, and likely only animals larger than the parasite (so all plants, fungi, microbes, & arthropods like insects, crustaceans cephalopods, basically any tiny slithering or creepy crawly, can NOT get infected… because they either lack HoX genes or aren’t large enough. At the very least larger prey is preferable 2. The parasites are manipulating the HoX genes to force the change of the hosts’ body plan (extra limbs grow, appendages grow in places they shouldn’t, appendages grow to larger/longer proportions) and good way to thing of this might be the Necromorphs from Dead Space, where bone & musculture is refashioned into weapons 3. With regards to the infection. It seems like a host can be infected by bother the host & the inoculant injected into our character What’s the innoculant? It’s a mutagen secreted by the parasite itself. The mutagen is likely a group of protiens/enzymes/transcription factors that forces the HoX genes of the host to rearrange the host’s body to its liking The parasite itself will then just take over the host’s brain with the use of hormones & chemical inducers (or it might be similar to say that the parasite just secretes hormones like grelin, to make its host incredibly hungry; the. The parasite just sits back and lets its host do as it pleases, so long as the parasite is given what it wants to eat) so the parasite might only make its host transform when it either feels threatened, the mother is threatened or it wants to eat but the host refuses to do so (I’m sorry if it’s not too coherent, but I tried to simplify this as much as possible, and there’s only so much I can explain without diagrams of how HoX works 🥲) I love the video, so I hope others like possible explanations in theoretical biology

Hey man, I love your style of writing. I put on your videos to relax weirdly enough considering the usual themes. Your videos just wouldn't have that special "Personique" or however it's spelled without your ... meandering style of speech. I say this with upmost respect when I say; my guy- I could follow along with anything you said in that intro. It was like a cognitohazard. My brain just slid right off of what you said because it was so rambley. I think what you said was something like: 1. parasites are a difficult thing to categorize, they aren't just nasty worms and tiny bugs like we usually picture when we think of them. There are many kinds of parasitism that range anywhere from not entirely mutualism to hijacking your genetic code . Technically we eat animals, taking something from another living organism in order to fuel our own. But that doesn't make us parasites. Only because we put the creature out of its misery in the process instead of slowly killing the animal or only getting them sick like parasites do. Just something to think about. 2.to spite how horrible parasites are we can't really get rid of them yet because our ammune systems need them. We've evolved alongside these creatures and our body has a strange reliance on them to keep our body from eating itself. 3. The parasites in the game Zoochosis are very poorly understood and operate in such an odd way that one might think that they are sentient and specifically sent to fuck with humanity by exploiting this corrupt as hell zoo.

Could I make a request? Not many like it because it uses the 10% brain power myth but I think that doesn’t discount it as an interesting movie and deserves a chance, it’s just a movie after all. Lucy (2014). The main character is used as a drug mule and the bag breaks and the drug enters her bloodstream and gives her ever growing psychic powers. It runs with the using only 10% of our brain power. At 100% her body disappears. She is “everywhere”, in the space time continuum. I’ve asked before but chickened out of continuing to ask. I love this movie and interested in the science behind the “drug” and all the side effects that come with it.

The premise it bases itself on is flawed. We use all of out brain, we just don't use all of it at once. Using all of your brain at once on highest capacity would just lead to you frying your brain. It's like how we only tap into a small portion of the power that our muscles are capable of. Be ause if we used 100% of our strength capacity we'd tear ourselves apart with out own strength. So our brain doesn't let us access that ability except in exceptional cases, such as life and death (mother lifting a car to save her baby analogy).

@@rsmith6366 I’m aware. Just because it talks about using 10% doesn’t mean the movie can’t qualify as a subject of a video. Using 100% is like having a seizure. How much of the brain we use is an effect of the drug in the movie. The drug bag breaks inside the body and all of it spreads and the abilities from it and how far they evolve as the movie goes. It’s not convoluted like The Lazarus Effect of bring someone back to life with a serum and how it changes the person for the worse, like the progression of the antagonist to being completely demonic. If there’s an analysis of the soul there can be with a drug that enhances the percentage of brain power.

Hey Roanoke, unrelated dumb question for ya. A man who has been handling snakes for like the last 30yrs, been bitten a few dozen times and has built up a tolerance "immunity" to several different breeds right. Now if the man had a kid, would the kid have been born with some sort of tolerance "immunity" to those types of snakes? Here's another variable to add. Say the man allowed those snakes he built a tolerance for, bite him all at once and then 15-30mins later, he then impregnated his wife. Would that have an effect on the kid's tolerance? Also, what if it the woman and the man had a tolerance for those snakes before having a kid... I know, this question is wild LOL

You can tell someone did some research here, the whiteboard mention Hox genes. Given the humanoid appearance the parasite creating Uber-morphs may have already happened generations ago resulting in humans as we know them today. Loved watching you play the game.

It could be that along with effecting the Hosts DNA to change the hosts cells Structural blueprint, that Parasite itself could be mostly using its own cells that it creates while inside a hosts body to create the mutated form of the host using the hosts blood vessels. The Parasite using its Tendrils to occupy the hosts blood vessels causing them to become damaged or inflamed as its spreads through the hosts circulatory system as we see in Paul his blood vessels becoming infected overtime before his eventual mutation in one of the bad endings. When a specific Cure is administered, it forces the parasite to retract all the Tendrils anchoring it to the hosts body as it flees the cure while also perhaps forcing a behavior change in the parasite to undo the changes it caused to the hosts body (the way I can describe it to be easier to understand as fallows: biological blueprint that Parasite fallows without the cure = mutated monster. biological blueprint the Parasite fallows infected with the cure made of the UN-infected hosts blood = the hosts original DNA and body Structure ) The Cure pretty much seems to force the parasite into a behavioral change to undo what it had done to the host, before the Parasite is expelled from the body as the cure weakens the parasite enough for the body to naturally reject and remove it. I'm not a scientist, but that is my theory as how and why it happened.
