The Myddle Class - "Free As The Wind", original 45

The Myddle Class hailed from New Jersey, originally called The King Bees. Five eighteen-year-olds: Dave Palmer lead singer, Rick Philp guitar, Danny Mansolino organ, Charles Larkey bass and Myke Rosa on drums.
garagehangover.com notes that their first and most well-known record, "Don't Let Me Sleep Too Long", was a #2 hit on WPTR in Albany during the summer of '66.
I came across this 45 in mid-1967 at a small underground-music record shop in Greenwich Village, where I used to hang out to catch the latest sounds. I had already bought their first release, "Don't Let Me Sleep Too Long", here at the same shop, in late 1966.

I heard this song was popular in the Hudson Valley region in the summer of ‘66. Wonder if they got any fame in the Poughkeepsie area.

Myddle Class fans. Rick Philp's High School friend Kathleen West wrote a dynamite book "A Song for You", the story of The Myddle Class's rise to fame, ending in Rick's tragic murder one week before his college graduation. Read it and memories of that era you'd forgotten you ever remembered will come roaring back. It is available if you search for it. Just passing this on.

Ah! I'm from Schenectady and I listened to WPTR all the time! I love this song. I found it at the Blue Note in Albany. This one and The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore by the Fuzzy Bunnies. I LOVE these 2 songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a blast from the past. Thank you.

Fuzzy Bunnies was played on WSNY more than WPTR but they both played regional releases that as Capital District residents we thought they were National hits. Love that version of The Sun Ain’t Going To Shine Anymore! Tim Rose’s version of Hey Joe was another song that was played in Albany & Buffalo and that’s it.

For a group of five 18-year olds, this is better than mediocre. Do you know any groups right now at this age that can sing and make music like this? I noticed the Goffin/King songwriters credited (Gerry Goffin & Carole King), and they are no slouches. Sorry it still didn't meet your standards.
