Plus he's without a support system, Charlie has Vaggie and the rest of her friends in the hotel including Alastor, even if he isn't sincere in wanting to help her she still needs and appreciates his help. From what we can tell, Lucifer's support system has completely deteriorated, his wife left and none of the other Sins or his friends seem to be around to offer any kindness, likely due to Lucifer emotionally shutting down and self-isolating after Lilith left with Charlie 😢

My theory for the ducks is that he was fixated on the moment Charlie first laid eyes on one of his creations, the part where she sneaked in while he was working, and so he held on to that memory of her smile despite being estranged for a long time. at lot of people think that its Lilith that Alastor is soul bound too. In the Pilot Episode, Charlie calls Lilith, leaving a voicemail and moments later Alastor shows up in front of the Hotel. I haven't watched any Helluva Boss which is in the same world but I know beings like the Seven Deadly Sin are in the world, well Six as Lucifer is Pride, but my Idea is the its not Lilith but a Sin, mainly Envy, as its the a Sin we know nothing about and it be a way to bring a Sin into Hazbin Hotel.

The slight incongruence between how Lucifer clearly wants to be there for Charlie and make her happy vs how Charlie described him not wanting to see her makes me think he went into a dark depressive episode when Lilith left, and he COULDN’T be there for Charlie when she needed him most, and now he has a lot of guilt about that.

Lucifer and Charlie's story means a lot to me. "More than Anything" is my favorite song, so deep and heartbreaking... The way he embraces Charlie like she's still a little girl break my heart. He wants to protect her so badly from Heaven's cruaulty... Poor guy has been depressed for millenia and now, even his wife has left him, and his daughter is growing up. That's hard. I would love to know more about the begining of Hell. I just thought about it recently but maybe Alastor wants to escape his owner through redemption. Since he was gone for 7 years, like Lilith, maybe she's the one who owns him. The question is, is it recent or way more ancient, like when he first came to Hell ? After all, he was kind of the anomaly due to his power and how he grew up the stairs so fast. I wonder how Husk knows about that.

A fantastic thought that someone else told me is that, yeah... Lucifer is in charge of the "Pride Ring" in Hell. All of the other "Anthropomorphic Sins" we see are in charge of the other rings in Hell (Greed, Gluttony, Lust, etc.). While Lucifer ISN'T an "Anthropomorphic Sin", he DOES act like one, in that he thinks Heaven won't listen to Charlie BECAUSE they didn't listen to him ("If I can't do it, then you can't either."), but also because before his banishment, the elders of Heaven probably believed that Lucifer thought he knew better than them, giving Humanity free will.

Pride IS his major flaw. He definitely sees himself and his family as being above the other residents of Hell. It makes sense now that Charlie is so sheltered and not like everyone else there. Even though he's a hands-off parent, Lucifer still keeps her protected. And thinking about the characters in the show, pride does seem to be humanity's main obstacle to personal growth, so it makes sense that they all live in the Pride ring.

This ep is so good. And it adds so much more info on not only Charlie's relationship with Lucificer, but Lilith's relationship to both of them. Because her coming in and taking Charlie when she was little as they were bonding over duck magic, felt like a nudge that *Lilith* was the wedge between Charlie and her dad way more than anything else ever was. Because honestly? Charlie and Lucifer are suuuuuper similar in personality than what we've seen of Lilith (admittedly not much, but w/e). Which makes their estrangement even weirder if there wasn't outside influence, ie Lilith.

I love how close they lean forward when stuff about Alastor is reveled. I'm loving your reaction to every time you learn new information. Lucifer is pretty much my top favorite character in the show. I love him so much. His interpretation is so different from every other show/media that has depicted him and it's so good!! Jeremy Jordan does a phenomenal job as Lucifer, he so talented and I love seeing/hearing him outside of Broadway shows. I first was introduced to him when he played Winn on Supergirl. I don't think Lucifer is a bad dad or a dead beat dad. I think he's a very flawed dad that's been crushed and broken by Heaven, he's been depressed, he's been isolated(which was a large part due to depression), the love of his life left years ago and maybe even longer before the 7 years (he still wears his wedding ring), and he just didn't know how to connect with his daughter. He probably didn't think she would want to see him and feels guilty about quite a few things. The man needs some serious therapy. For Charlie to say he just let the extermination happen is really unfair. She didn't understand just what kind of position and who knows what Heaven would have done if he had tried to fight it. So he did allow it but only for sinners/mortals to be killed and made sure that Charlie and all other Hellborns were exempt for it. Some people think Lucifer might know where Lilith is when he's on the phone with her because of how he looked at their family portraits on the wall and he looks really sad. Therefore he was probably staying away from Charlie partly out of guilt and not being able to face her. I really really hope that theory isn't sure because it would be so heartbreaking. Regarding all the stuff with Alastor vs Lucifer: Alastor realizes he doesn’t have control in the situation. He’s been used to being Charlie’s strongest player for the hotel because Lucifer wasn’t there. Now that he is, Alastor is internally panicking because he’s realizing Charlie doesn’t need to rely on him as much if she has Lucifer. So he decides to jab that he hadn’t been there. And how “loyal” is he. He loves and craves control and people like him get really upset when they don’t have it anymore. He meets Lucifer who is the most power person in all of hell who can slap him out of existence with one hand, and he's a short man with golden retriever energy, who has just let everyone in the Pride ring to their own devices and hasn't been involved. He doesn't he bother to shake his actual hand, Alastor just shook Lucifer's cane and then wiped his hand disgusted. There's also mostly fan speculation from what I've seen given his relationship with female characters on the show and the original artist on the pilot calling him a mama's boy that he had a bad/abusive father himself so that could also factor in his disdain toward Lucifer. Also so far in the main series Alastor has just interjected himself into other people's songs. He hasn't had a solo song himself since the Pilot. I think the reason why we didn't see Lilith's face in Charlies memory during More Then Anything is maybe, since Lillith has been absent for seven years, it’s meant to represent her absence in Charlie’s recent life and memories, as opposed to her dad’s newfound presence? Vivienne/vivziepop did answer the question as to why Lucifer is so obsessed with ducks in an interview that it was her friend Sam's idea for his office to be filled with rubber ducks because they wanted it to be full of something and that it was also inspired from a VeggieTales episode called King George and the Ducky . If Lucifer got over protective from just seeing Alastor barely touch Charlie's shoulder. What do you think Lucifer would do to Valentino if he found out he licked Charlie? He would be one over crispy moth. Going to be constantly refreshing Patreon multiple times tomorrow for episode 6. It gets even better and juicier.

Charlie's Canon age is 200 years. #Theory Charlie wasn't first children of Lilith and Lucifer but they all born death. @ LadySygerrik Some stories of Lilith have her cursed with the inability to have children, with all of hers being either born dead or dying shortly after being born. Lucifer’s feelings here are really interesting because while Charlie feels he doesn’t believe IN HER - what it is actually is is he’s been in Charlie’s position taking the side of human potential against Heaven and it went unspeakably wrong and I’m sure he feels it’s not Charlie he lacks faith in - it’s a) Heaven and b) Sinners. The Heaven issue is self explanatory. But I suspect Lucifer greatly resents the Sinner Demons as those human souls who squandered his gift of free will/the fruit of knowledge, and proved Heaven right about their unworthiness. Probably goes into why he made his deal allowing the extermination as long as no Hellborn (I.e. Charlie) were touched.

IMO, he cares about Mimzy in his own way. Gotta remember if he is on a leash ,his soul is owned and someone is controlling his actions only a few people in all of hell would be able to tell. This, and I heartily believe that Alastor was making honest feelings do dishonest work - Mimzy showing up when she did was ideal for really making himself look amicable in front of Charlie and Lucifer. He seemed genuinely glad to see her but he was in the middle of a power play, and the minute she started interfering with that she had to go. He's got plans, and old friendships are not about to mess with that.

@@zuzu6864 Alastor reads to me like a textbook narcissist - he has friends and affection for certain people (particularly women, I've noticed) but also tends to see things as an extension of his own ego. The hotel, Charlie, they might be things he is forced to care about with this vague mention of being on a leash, but I think he has been so involved in it for so long that he is starting to see them as his - he is the "host of the hotel", Charlie is his to groom into a powerful pawn, it's all about his accomplishments and his influence, the affection comes secondary. When you see how he analyses and maneuvers around every character he interacts with you can start to really clock all his posturing!

I think Lucifer expressed lack of faith in her plan because he doesn’t believe in Heaven and Sinner demons (I.e. mortal souls who squandered and abused his gift of free will and seemingly proved heaven right about the whole thing), but Charlie heard that as lack of faith in her. Of course Lucifer’s perspective was he was trying to protect Charlie from repeating his own mistakes.

It’s such an interesting angle they decided to take with Lucifer. Alastor comes off way more like the charismatic tempter working a scam at the crossroads, and their version of the devil really doesn’t match any expectation of the character at all. Even Adam seems more like the devil than the devil. I know that choice had to be intentional, certainly…I just wonder what sort of twist that will lead to.

"It's time I remind everyone why I'm here" is what Al says before he goes out to "defend the Hotel" as Charlie puts it. My guess is that the Hotel itself is probably something he'd have been interested in even without being under contract, but him going out of his way to defend it like he did is something he wouldn't have done unless the attack became a direct threat to himself. That's why he tells Mimze he "can't have that here" in relation to her bringing trouble to the Hotel's doorstep.
