If memory serves, the beta version of the game explains flight levels as being a place where Spyro's wings grow. The explanation was dropped, but you can still see Spyro's wings get larger, so I think that's still the idea. In the final build, the dragon just describes it as a place where Spyro can learn how to fly, so maybe all young dragons go to places like that?
@Terios200110 күн бұрын
I remember one of the guide books stating that Spyro’s, (being very young), wings are too small for him to truly fly yet, hence the gliding. Admittedly still doesn’t explain how he can fly in the speedways.

Regarding the matter of Spyro's origin tribe, I'm inclined to think he's either from Peace Keepers or Beast Makers. There's dragons that seem to personally know him from across all the Dragon worlds, so he probably got around a lot even before his adventure. However, these are the two tribes that I can most easily imagine having inherent bravery within them, and the ones I feel most strongly resemble Spyro himself, especially in the Reignited version. He's not entirely out of place in Artisans and he does seem to spend a lot of time in Stone Hill specifically even in future games implying he might live here, but that doesn't outright dismiss the possibility of him being from another world to begin with. Magic Crafters and Dream Weavers are easy to rule out as Spyro definitely does not fit in with them aesthetically and he's not particularly magical by dragon standards. Spyro's personality kinda implies a Peace Keepers origin as he's definitely more of a hero and warrior than he is an artist, but that could be coincidental. Still, it's enough for me to hold the headcanon that Spyro was originally a Peace Keepers dragon who decided to live amongst the Artisans for a care free lifestyle.

How do portals work? Who designed them? Who maintains them? Spyro 3 states that portals function through exposure to dragons... but that only solves one part of the problem. In Avalar, portals seem to be a function of orbs, though this is never stated clearly. Are orbs related to dragons, somehow? The first three Spyro games raise a lot of interesting lore questions that, sadly, never get answered because of the franchise's abandonment.

"I know the dragonflies are really addressed in later games…" **shows cover of Enter the Dragonfly** Hoo boy…yeah, um…check your expectations there, sir. While there was probably a theoretical version of that game that addressed dragonflies in a meaningful way, that is not the game we got. The game we got has no value whatsoever. Just…Just don't expect anything from that game. At all. Regarding flight levels, in Magic Crafters, the flight level is specifically introduced by a dragon who says it's a place "where you can learn to fly", and then he starts on a tangent of "I remember, when I was a young dragon, earning my wings…" before Spyro interrupts him. What that says to me is that flight levels are specifically designated training courses for young dragons, perhaps with a special power attached to boost their young wings so they can practice. Grown dragons probably fly with magic, if I had to guess, but maybe younglings don't have enough magic yet, so they can only practice in these specially-designed areas.

I tortured myself by 120% completing the Japanese version of this game. It was pain. The camera angles are broken as hell and Spyro's physics work different. The Japanese voice acting was pretty good though. I only played that version because I thought it could help me learn Japanese. I wonder if any of those planets are the ones we will see in the Ratchet and Clank games.
@jiggylookback10 күн бұрын
I love the look of the manual in the Japanese version, So weird how much is different in that version.
@rayphoenix729610 күн бұрын
@@jiggylookback It is exactly the same. They just changed how the camera angles work so the camera gives a bird's eye view of the level and does not have Spyro justified in the center. The camera often gets stuck on the sides of walls. Some bosses like Toasty don't even appear in the frame and I had to rely on my memory of him from the American version for that boss fight. Spyro can charge but it does not make him go faster. Charging is merely a method of attack and not a way to get around faster. Spyro also cannot jump while he is charging. There are these obnoxious signs sprawled throughout the levels that can be read by flaming them. They just explain obvious things that you could have figured out yourself. It is as if the people that made the Japanese localization thought Japanese people were stupid or something. Spyro speaks a lot more in this version. He often makes, "Yah!" sounds when he charges and jumps kind of like Mario in Super Mario 64.
@jiggylookback10 күн бұрын
@ yeah so bizarre…why change the core gameplay… yikes
@rayphoenix729610 күн бұрын
@@jiggylookback The alleged reason why the made these changes was because they thought Japanese people would get motion sickness from the way the camera worked in the US version.
