Popeyes, the American multinational chain of fried chicken fast-food restaurants has over 3,102 restaurants located in more than 40 states in America and in 30 countries worldwide. It is the second-largest chicken selling chain after KFC. They are popular for their catchy jingles and ads, but even more so for their Cajun-style chicken.
Also, in case you were wondering, Popeyes isn't named after the spinach-eating cartoon character, but after Detective Popeye Doyle of the French Connection.
This is the Story of a young entrepreneur Al Copeland who started Popeyes when he was 28 years old. For about 10 years, he worked and gained experience after which his entrepreneurial spirit kicked in, and he decided to try his hand at running a fast-food business which worked out really well for him.
Many people don't know today that 'Chicken on the run' didn't sell the spicy fried chicken that Popeyes is famous for today. Instead, Al initially sold chicken based on a traditional recipe, which unfortunately led to a huge failure in the beginning. There are many more things that he experimented with to reach a point where he is at right now with regard to the company.
In Addition to this, he was also into entertainment venues. He owned one of the best comedy clubs in America, The Improv, which has given us some seriously good entertainment throughout the years.
Each year for Christmas, he would buy gifts for 1000 needy children. As a school dropout himself, inspired by his childhood, he gave extensively to charities that set up schools in the state. He had become a legend in New Orleans, and the legacy he has left behind is unmatched.
His story is one of a kind and worth knowing about. So keep watching the above video to learn more!

Popeyes is hands down better than KFC. In fact, whenever I crave chicken I travel 23 miles just to get Popeyes when there's a KFC only 8 miles away. To me there is no comparison. Popeyes all the way!

I think I remember Popeyes tasted better back in the 70s. Than today. I tried to finally buy my own meal and wasn't impressed maybe my taste buds changed. I never went back. That was around mid ,90s. To 2000 M

I met Al Copeland driving carriages in the French quarter he was with his fourth wife when we drove through the quarter people they were applauding him. He was very Chrismetic he did the ride for an hour. I told him on the tour. He was my inspiration for my first restaurant, it was called Cafe Bongiorno Italian, i restaurant, making muffaletta’s from scratch pizza dough, Italian sausage, and bread. It was awesome In Gretna, Louisiana, It was a success within Harrahs casino. Unfortunately, they pull they pull the plug on me leaving me driving carriages for 20 yr Al told me do not let that stop you do what you love it will happen again .I love that chicken from Popeyes it will happen again for me ❤️💯

They both use to be good but the quality of the food has changed over the years….I rather go to Church’s now and you wouldn’t understand if you haven’t had 70s and 80s quality KFC and Popeyes…..They’re both completely different tasting low quality workers don’t give a damn about their job tasting restaurants now ….They use to be places that you could go sit down with family and enjoy your food….Now when you go sit down the staff are looking at you stupid because they think you’re going to make mess and they don’t want to clean up 😂 Back in the 80s people took pride in their jobs it wasn’t just a paycheck ….Oh and Subway will always be Second to Sub Station 2 …..Dennys will always be second to Shoneys….Poppa John’s Will always be second to God Fathers Pizza …..Keep it going in the comments

Yea 80's KFC in UK was good, changed over the years now. Fries used to be a soggy style here, and the chicken was a softer crumb was great.
