Even so most of what passes for Christianity today focuses on sin; not Christ, not salvation, not faith...... You present the Mercy Seat and in the same breath make the comment that the law was given for the good of the people......how can that be when scripture says knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Yashua the Christ, even we have believed in Yashua, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. If only people would stop and ask why? They rush toward the law for justification because they do not have faith they have belief......and they call that faith. In Matthew 8:25-26 we see what Yashua thinks of as faith as compared to what is now considered faith within the church..... Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. When I read this I see belief..... These men are fishermen, men of the sea, and they know storms....as it approached they would have understood what to do....they would have prepared the boat and as it struck them they would have done all in their power to keep the boat....now at the end of themselves they come to Him knowing they are going to die..... What would they expect Him to do? Why wake Him asking? They surly believed He could/would do something, work some miracle and much more so than most today...... Then we read BUT When He asks why did you fear we see it as a trust issue....it is.....we can not trust one we do not know. When He stood and commanded the sea and waves they were in awe it was not expected. They hoped He could save them but seeing Him do, so they ask who is this? Faith is not believing in Christ it is knowing Him personally..... and in knowing Him comes a different kind of believing. I submit you cannot know a person by reading about them in a book..... Faith comes by an encounter the encounter come when we seek God as scripture encourages us to do....but many after coming to a belief think that and works is what they must do to satisfy God....that in believing and doing they are His they are saved....for this reason they focus on sin, but there is only one sin now that can damn a person that of unbelief.... I say that is the lack of faith..... Reading scripture that is the view I have come away with; encountering God is the reason I have concern for so many that think faith/belief are the same thing.
