After surviving 4 years in WW1 then surviving 20+ assassination attempts, I actually expected Adolf to grab a rifle and charge the entire Russian army at the gate, the story goes he was so shocked when he was shown a tape of what happened to his friend Mussolini that he didn't want to be ridiculed then displayed like that . . .

We will never know which pistol he used, but IMHO it was more than likely the heavier 7.62 MM (32 ACP) rather than the lighter 25 ACP. As a World War One combat veteran, Hitler would have known the difference in power between the two and probably opted for the more effective weapon.

@@nonosenoseboy4731 I presume you mean PPK? Chambered in .32 ACP no less. So it's a combination of the best traits of the two guns Hitler may have used. The compactness of the PPK with the superior cartridge of the PP.

My grandfather brought it back with him after the war. I inherited it. A couple of years ago, I offered to sell it to Rick Harrison for $25,000, but he said the best he could offer was $50 because he would have to frame it in a shadow box and it might sit in the store for awhile, and he had overhead.

He died in Berlin. To believe that he managed to get out of Berlin, which was totally encircled, and found his way to Argentina and then lived out his days quietly is absolute bollocks. Contemporaries of the time, say he carried a Walther Model 8 .25acp (6.35mm), in the special leather pouch, sewn into his uniform trouser waistband. The Walther PPK .32acp (7.65mm) was carried in his right front pocket. A Gold Plated Oak Leaf engraved Walther PP, with ivory grips with party eagle and his initials "A.H.", complete with party leader belt & holster, was found in his desk drawer in his apt in Munich.A gift from Fritz Walther, for his 50th birthday. He also had a Walther Model 9 .25acp(6.35mm) as a presentation gift.

I knew about the .32, but didn't know he routinely carried a pistol chambered in .25. Presumably, if you were going to shoot yourself and wanted it to count, you'd use the one with the bigger bullet. I'll bet he used the .32. Perhaps the .25 was intended for Eva, but she didn't use it (something like 90% of gun suicides are males - women prefer poison. Probably they care what they look like after they're dead). The metric designations for .25 and .32, which can be often found in European sources, are 6.35mm and 7.65mm, respectively.
