Founded by Henry V and built by his son Henry VI, Syon Abbey was a large, wealthy monastery for nuns of an obscure Swedish order. During the reign of Henry VIII it vanished. Its remains lie beneath the lawns of modern Syon House, designed by Capability Brown. What they find is on a huge scale. But there is disagreement as to what kind of building it was. After investigating the foundations of the House, Stewart and Jonathan reach an agreement on the extent of the church. They are joined by buildings historian Jonathan Foyle and monastic expert Barney Sloane.

They spend a long weekend (3 days) on these TimeTeam digs to pique people's interest in history and archaeology and then turn the dig over to local archaeologists to continue the work. I know it is frustrating, at least it is for me, that is seems we just get to the interesting parts and their three days are up.

I can understand the political reasons they ordered the large churches destroyed...but I wish they had just found new purposes for at least some of the churches so more might still be around in good condition. Also wish our ancestors had taken more interest in preserving historic sites & buildings rather than treating anything older as “rubbish”. It especially got bad once Christianity became well founded.

Show funding for filming is a large reason for the time limit. Also the archeologists also work on other longterm sites not just the show. Most archeological sites typically don’t have such a large group of such experienced archeologists unless absolutely massive & involved. And limiting their investigations to just 3 days & promise to clean up after themselves is why the owners of many the places they’ve been allowed to dig allowed them even after having refused all others. Especially when in people’s yards & right next to their houses.

King Henry VIII was an egomaniac, destroying that beautiful Syon Abbey complex. The Summit Lighthouse, Ascended Master Kuthumi (St Francis) gave an "Expose of False Teachings" that King Henry VIII previous embodiment was as the Apostle Peter, the very founder of the Roman Catholic Church, he was crucified in Rome, upside down, to not dishonor the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. He did not make the Ascension (no more embodiment's), and in keeping with his high status as Peter the Apostle, he granted or maybe forced to embody as Henry the VIII. When he could not get his papal approved divorce from Catherine of Aragon, Queen of England, from the Pope, he decided to create his own Church of England. He did more damage to the Roman Catholic Church than Martin Luther and John Calvin combined He considered himself still Catholic by keeping many of the Catholic practices. If England would have remained Catholic, America would have been a Catholic country. It has been conveyed through some seers that before the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ that England would convert back to Catholicism. Then he sold most of the Roman Catholic Churches, monasteries and abbeys, he was greedy for funding his projects, but he destroyed the beautiful Syon Abbey, as it was stated for revenge since they were the main opposition center to keep England Catholic. King Henry the VIII is a black spot on English history.

Why are you using my Grandpa Henry's image,..when you're talking about something medieval?.. that doesn't even make sense. 💜🏵️💚 Crystal, His 14th granddaughter through Lady Mary Berkeley who begot Sir Lord Admiral John Perrot.. who was my 13th Grandpa. I don't like it when people use Grandpa's image 😂👿

You apparently know beans about Henry. He destroyed hundreds of abbies. 13 generations back?? You're off by at least 10 to 18. Nice try. If you're going to claim special ancestry, at least learn your history and some math too.

@@allisonrogers1409 I'm the XIV granddaughter of King Henry the 8th with the paperwork to prove it.. Missing 0 names all the way going back five hundred years. good enough to get into the best Renaissance Festival on Earth free for LIFE, but sadly America is falling extremely soon..so it was the last one EVER, this year. I'm also related to 95% of all the presidents.. but most of them are scumbags, so is pretty shameful. Not much to be proud of there. and then I'm related to over three hundred different hellyweird celebrities, and TV stars recording artists you name it if they have a name they're probably my relation, with the exception of maybe 4-5% of them. It's really staggering. it's also staggering how a completely ignorant person can try to tell somebody they don't know who their family is. 😂🤣🙄🤯

@@meademorgan6614 other people notice it as well because I am a reptilian.. with my parents, myself, me and my daughters having eye anomalies. It comes from King Henry.. but both of my grandparents on my dad's side are from the Royal bloodline and oneof my mom's parents so I doubt y'all Jokers have superpowers where you can make one of your eyes turn navy blue and one of them turn yellow.. With slits, on DEMAND. 😅😳💜💣💥
