At this point it should become absolutely clear that if the artifacts and evidences do not match because of chronology, THEN THE CHRONOLOGY MUST BE THE WEAKEST LINK. The mystery is simple. The quality of the blade is too good for the current technology of that time. There is a high probability of some civilizations knowing some ironwork at that time, but it simply not possible to achieve that quality with their technology. The only possible way to make such a blade quality is if the metal came from a meteorite...or if historians got the date of the iron age wrong and in this case, historians could have to rewrite what they know about these times.

If you know metallurgy, it would take more technology to forge iron from a meteorite into a dagger than it would to produce advanced iron from the Earth. It's been tried in modern times with ferrous meteorites and the impurities prevent quality forging.

Its been a well documented fact that ancient artisans were pounding meteorites into blades and other stuff for a few thousand years before they figured put how to extract it from ore on earth. I'm pretty sure that is what the original scientists claimed when they discovered it. If there is one thing I've learned in life is that things said to be impossible are merely things we haven't figured out yet. If you told someone 300 years ago that we would have devices in our pockets that contain the knowledge of all humanity, they would laugh at you and probably burn you as a witch. I agree with you. If you took an average person from this time period and someone from that time period and placed them on an island, who do you think would more than likely survive, let alone flourish? We watch t.v., use cell phone, tools (power tools), drive vehicles, but could the average person build them? First you'd have to design the tools and machinery to make the components/parts. That's a long list that includes procuring the raw materials iron, nickel, copper etc. just to name a few of more than a thousand. You'd have to start out making crude tools in order to make even better quality tools that would eventually reach the level that it takes to make those components/parts. There were cocaine leafs found in some Egyptian tombs, yet there's only a certain type of area with climate and soil that it will grow in, South America. Vikings traveled up and down the east coast of what's now the U.S. Of course modern day science doesn't want to admit that they could have been wrong in their thinking.

They had iron and steel before that time as the Bible states. In the book of Genesis Moses wrote of Tubal Cain being the first forger of Iron. He was grandson of Cain who killed Able before Noah's time, around the 4th Millennium which was about 6,000 years ago. The point being this "How did Moses at the Exodus which was nearly 400 years before King Tut's time know of Iron and write of it when he wrote the Bibles first four books ?" Moses raised as a well schooled Egyptian and also called by them as the "Master Builder", if he knew this then logically they probably did have have iron tools also. But laying in the sands would have rusted to nothing and why none are found. Iron was also scarce and hard to come by so nobody of that time would have buried any of it with exception to this King's dagger at that time either.They re used it all. They have also found Hittite tablets mentioning Iron Sith-blades used on war chariots also by Egypt and them both during their wars.

Problem is that those people think that iron working was a global technological break threw. Up to this point people were able to melt copper, tin, gold, silver and maybe some more metals. All of them would melt at different temperatures. It wouldn't take 5 mins to realize that some metals would need higher temperatures to melt. I'm pretty sure that people back then were perceptive enough to realize that blowing wind makes fire more intense and hotter. But nooooooo. Pseudo scientists wan't us to believe that it took thousands of years for people to add 2 and 2 together. There is not much iron work to find because iron rusts like crazy. Just look at poorly maintained cars. It only takes 20 years for a car to look like rusted junk. What do you think happens with iron tools exposed to elements for a couple thousands of years.
@SteepSix
@SteepSix 5 жыл бұрын
Indeed. It stands to reason that we have more ancient bronze than iron or even steel because bronze doesn't rust... it's also easier to work and recycle. It is also more complicated than iron as it requires mixing tin or toxic arsenic with copper to create. Iron does require more heat but that seems a smaller leap to take than mixing such disparate metals that apparently never occurred anywhere near each other. Iron can be forged into steel by a bellows though, which is also required by bronze. Impurities can also be hammered out of iron as the Japanese did. I would posit that iron and even steel has been in use much longer than we're told. People just preferred bronze for every day items as it lasted longer, was easier to repair, and was much less expensive. Professor Tolkien thought so too, and in the words of Will Durant; "He who should know the history of words would know all history.".

@@kekistaniattackhelicopter2242 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_iron_production en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bog_iron en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Age en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrous_metallurgy#Iron_Age_Europe en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_metallurgy_in_Africa The earliest-known iron artifacts are nine small beads dated to 3200 BC, which were found in burials at Gerzeh, Lower Egypt. They have been identified as meteoric iron shaped by careful hammering.[4] Meteoric iron, a characteristic iron-nickel alloy, was used by various ancient peoples thousands of years before the Iron Age. Such iron, being in its native metallic state, required no smelting of ores.[5][6] Smelted iron appears sporadically in the archeological record from the middle Bronze Age. Whilst terrestrial iron is naturally abundant, its high melting point of 1,538 °C (2,800 °F) placed it out of reach of common use until the end of the second millennium BC. Tin's low melting point of 231.9 °C (449.4 °F) and copper's relatively moderate melting point of 1,085 °C (1,985 °F) placed them within the capabilities of the Neolithic pottery kilns, which date back to 6000 BC and were able to produce temperatures greater than 900 °C (1,650 °F).[7] In addition to specially designed furnaces, ancient iron production needed to develop complex procedures for the removal of impurities, the regulation of the admixture of carbon, and for hot-working to achieve a useful balance of hardness and strength in steel. There is a whole lot more to it than just reaching the 1500-1800 F required to smelt the ore. You also have to figure out how to remove chemical impurities, properly temper it and control the carbon content. Watch a black smith make a weapon or tool out of something like bog iron sometime so you can see how involed the process tools and techniques are. You have to invent new technology and develop new processes to develop a new material like that, it took time and nobody pretends the world discovered all at the same time, Scandinavia went through the iron age something like 500 years after the middle east and sub saharan Africa. Additionally iron may oxidize that doesn't make it disintegrate. Oxidation occurs at the outermost layers and works its way inward and it still requires outside force to break the material apart the oxidation just makes its bonds weaker.

I have seen a renown archeologist, say that they had found the mummies of King Tut's mother and father, only to come back in another documentary and claim that the mummy of Tut's mother was actually a man. This was done to denigrate, and delegitimise the findings of a female archeologist, that he disagreed with . In western academia, the gold standard of ancient civilizations is Ancient Greece and Rome; they are hard pressed to admit that any other civilizations of other people were just as, or more advanced before or during the time of Alexander the Great. Which is why a iron dagger of "that quality" existing in a civilization that was thriving and a advanced civilization well before the Europeans were aware the technology existed, is so incredulous. Pyramids in Mexico, China, and Egypt. But they are baffled over a iron blade dagger. We got medicine, math, one of the first written down languages , astronomy, and astrology from Egypt; just saying.

The Damascus steel story is similar in that it was a meteorite source. The cities were originally set up for trade; some were agricultural centers and some were metallurgical. Sumerian history covers it. The cities were set up and the humans were trained. This is covered also by the Hebrew bible, which is not a sacramental book and doesn't mention a god, gods or eternity, but covers routine human cloning and management. @@4k60-i1r If iron not rust it must be V2A and V4A stainless steel or alloy. at this dagger is no evidence of rust destroying, holes visible. There were abundant supplies of iron ore in both Egypt and the Sinai peninsula and textual sources indicate that Egyptians were aware of the metal from early in their history. But the ore was mostly used to create pigments for art and make up. One explanation for this may be that the readily accessible iron ores were of poor quality so couldn’t be worked into more useful metal. approximately 1295BC a new hieroglyphic word for iron appeared: “bi-A-n-pt”, which literally translates as “iron from the sky” (Gebel Kamil meteorite). The best-known example is a letter from King Tushratta of Mitanni (today in northern Iraq and Syria) detailing a dowry of his daughter who was to be sent as a bride to Tutankhamun’s grandfather, King Amenhotep III. This letter intriguingly refers to a dagger blade of “habalkinu”, a poorly documented word derived from the ancient Hittite language that some linguists have translated as “steel”. Stainless steel processing from 1800 degrees Celsius. further it's a matter of the used tools hammers and mold shapings with plain areas.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that we are seemingly constantly assuming that "we" are the smartest humans ever? Isn’t that some serious hubris? We may be more technologically advanced, but that does NOT mean that humans throughout history weren’t smart as hell, but might have lacked our knowledge. Specifically, if I were an ancient blacksmith/metal worker, and noticed that some combinations of metals rusted less than others, I’d be combining different metals in different combinations and experimenting with different processes. It’s human nature to learn, improve, adapt and discover better ways of doing things. I can see that others took the "metal not of this earth" comment to mean 'Alien,' but I’m guessing the narrator just meant meteorite. What person who found an old chunk of misshapen metal that didn’t show signs of rust wouldn’t think "Hey! Let’s see what we can make with this?" Instead of discounting finds such as this, why aren’t we simply saying, clearly the Egyptians were smarter than we thought?

I agree with you 100% In fact, I think people were, more than likely, smarter back then than we are now. If you think about it, they had to be. They had less tech to work with, so they had to think harder and better to get things done. And besides, all you have to do is consider what's really popular nowadays, and you'll realize that human intelligence is on a very rapid decline. No, that's not what the video was trying to say. Check out this study: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/maps.12664 The meteoritic origin of Tutankhamun's iron dagger blade Abstract "Scholars have long discussed the introduction and spread of iron metallurgy in different civilizations. The sporadic use of iron has been reported in the Eastern Mediterranean area from the late Neolithic period to the Bronze Age. Despite the rare existence of smelted iron, it is generally assumed that early iron objects were produced from meteoritic iron. Nevertheless, the methods of working the metal, its use, and diffusion are contentious issues compromised by lack of detailed analysis. Since its discovery in 1925, the meteoritic origin of the iron dagger blade from the sarcophagus of the ancient Egyptian King Tutankhamun (14th C. BCE) has been the subject of debate and previous analyses yielded controversial results. We show that the composition of the blade (Fe plus 10.8 wt% Ni and 0.58 wt% Co), accurately determined through portable x‐ray fluorescence spectrometry, strongly supports its meteoritic origin. In agreement with recent results of metallographic analysis of ancient iron artifacts from Gerzeh, our study confirms that ancient Egyptians attributed great value to meteoritic iron for the production of precious objects. Moreover, the high manufacturing quality of Tutankhamun's dagger blade, in comparison with other simple‐shaped meteoritic iron artifacts, suggests a significant mastery of ironworking in Tutankhamun's time."

The dagger has a large concentration of Ni (11%) and some Co (0.6%) which would explain why the dagger has a very high resistance to oxidization and corrosion. ("Iron meteorites" have ranging Ni concentrations of 5-35%.) Also, this dagger was a ceremonial gift, most likely imported from elsewhere as it indicated a high level of status. All of the other artifacts in his tomb were crudely built; the dagger stood out. Similar "meteoric iron" has been found near Cairo.

The presence of iron daggers can be explained by: 1. Trade relations with other countries. 2. In Egypt, they knew how to process iron. 3. The tomb was used to bury a person who died in a later period. This is a very strange tomb. Howard Carter himself was surprised by the presence of iron items. He did not meet iron in other tombs. The burial of Tutankhamun is also different from other tombs. Embalming rules violated. I also don’t understand why the pharaoh’s body seems to be charred. This is an interesting riddle, hopefully when we solve it.

This alloy is also found on earth. There are a few knifemakers today who use it in Damascus blades, but it is not a good knife-making material; it will not hold an edge. It just looks good. Based on that, I would say the dagger was intended to be decorative - it was "pure" in that it simply was taken from its source and worked into a blade: no heat treatment. Smelting of iron to produce a useful material may have begun later.

Since I have not found this information here, I thought this was interesting when I googled his iron dagger. Tutankhamun's iron dagger closely correlates with meteoric composition, including homogeneity. Originally discovered in 1925 in Tutankhamun's 14th C. BCE King's Valley tomb by archaeologist Howard Carter, the iron dagger is of meteorite origin. There are other examples of the Egyptians and others using metal from Meteors. Not a big deal.

Commenting on the "Clever Blacksmith" from King Tut's erra at the 7:15 mark: The clever Blacksmith, who had never seen iron before, was clever enough that he knew he could make a knife out of it, even when the rest of the planet had never seen iron before, or knew anything about iron. Soon after he finished his iron knife, which, in 3000yrs has never rusted, he started to make his first Winnebago. He never seen one before, but he heard about them somehow in a dream. He had that finished in record time, but he found he could only use it as a home, since the wheel had not been invented yet. This upset him very much, so he took his new metal iron knife to the Pharaoh and shaking the knife wildly, demanded that he find someone to invent a round thing so he could put four on his Winnebago, because he had a friend who told him that he got a message from one of his Carrier Pigeons, that a new McDonalds had opened up someone across the big pond, to a place that was yet to be discovered, even though the pigeon had flown all that way to send him an invite to that McDonald's grand opening. He wanted to be the first person on the planet to try a Big Mac with 2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce cheese, pickles onions on a sesame seed bun!! Ya! Ya! That's it! That's it!! HONEST! Or am I just an idiot too? DON'T ANSWER THAT!! grrr But, as always, that's just my opinion! :)))

@@wms72 [Quran 57.25] ... and We sent down Iron, in it great might... Iron and most of the elements on Earth came from outer space. Iron was known and used long before the Quran however it was not the best choice for weapons because it rusted and it easily bent. The miracle is that the Quran said "we sent down iron, in it great might" at a time when they only knew that it rusted, bent and definitely NOT from outer space. Today we know that iron is formed in stars and that iron has the strongest bound nucleus among all elements. This revelation of Quran is almost 1500 years old.

India, particularly South India had Iron technology and they were experts in producing Iron and Steel that are rust-proof. South Indians being great sailors and experts in navigating sears and trade via seas had very strong trade links with Egyptians since time in memory. There are numerous works of literature in ancient Tamil that talks about trade links, and to support that, large-scale ( industrial proportion ) were found in Kongu regions of modern-day Salem, Dharmapuri, Erode, Kodumanal, etc, found dating back to 3500 BC. Even today SALEM in Tamil Nadu, south of India is famous for steel production as the land in this region is rich in extremely good quality Iron ore.
