Fusion really took harmony, technique and guitar improvisation to another level... references for everything... Allan Holdsworth, Brett Garsed, Shawn Lane, Frank Gambale, TJ Helmerich...
@Gregorypeckory7 ай бұрын
That's a fantastic list of players; I love them all, especially Holdsworth! TJ Helmerich is a great player who should be so much better known; he's as advanced as Stanley Jordan with his tapping approach, and plays really beautiful keyboard sounding lines! I also recommend checking out Tory Slusher; she has an amazing tapping style; really fresh and different!
@demetriusmota96137 ай бұрын
@@Gregorypeckory Hello! You said it very well! Stanley Jordan and his unique technique cannot be forgotten, his performance at the Montreal jazz festival is for me one of the 10 greatest jazz guitar performances of all time, simply an unbelievable instrumental jazz ride in harmony, melody and free improvisation made in two hands, especially in "One Less Bell To Answer" A work of art! See the link! I went to see Tory Slucher, impressive, what talent, technique and feeling. thank you very much! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKDRfImmqreah7ssi=nyMxC8XqrrR-cNhg

@@hon8177 Allan is the best; you got that right. Lumping Brett in with him as if they were on the same level is ridiculous however, and Brett knows that. TJ Helmerich eats Brett's lunch all through their jams; Brett can't touch him with a 10-foot Pole, even though Brett is a great player; TJ proves that 8 fingers are better than 4. Your dismissal of Shawn Lane, the genius rock, jazz/rock and rock/raga fusion virtuoso is also ridiculous.
@demetriusmota96137 ай бұрын
@@hon8177 I already disagree with you. Shawn Lane has unique characteristics, he has his own identity in timbre, harmony, melody, sound and phrasing, incomparable technique, at an indescribable speed, and he doesn't waste a note without feeling and yes, without modesty, we only have one of him! I consider that John Scofield and John Abercrombie belong to the field of experimental contemporary jazz guitarists, they did not do their work strictly in jazz fusion like the ones I named.

Hey Brett, how do you get a fat sound with single coils & no hum? thx and great fun hearing you 🍻
@brettgarsed4 ай бұрын
I use the Axe FX III and there are so many options in that unit that it's possible to create a sound for the strat that's more like a gibson. I stack 2 distortion pedals for the lead tone and keep my tone at about 3 on the guitar. I also drop the volume on the guitar to about 8 and that darkens the tone as I don't have a treble bleed cap in the strat. For the hum canceling, I had an ilitch system installed. It works really well. I have Virgil Arlo single coils in my strat and they'd create a lot of noise (like all single coils do) if I didn't have that system installed.
@sega62s4 ай бұрын
@@brettgarsed Oh … that is what i have tough, but still they sound so beefy, it’s surreal.Axe fxiii vs a real tube amp, what would be the difference in tone, is the Axe fx 90% of the tube experience ? Does it get those harmonic distortion overtones? The Axe fx is a great product, it’s hassle free, you get everything in one module, but from a purist musician that love tubes richness…I was wondering, on youtube everything is compressed and can’t really judge on the quality , thanks for taking the time 👌🎼🍻

hello sir do you use an overdrive pedal for this track?
@brettgarsed2 жыл бұрын
I'm using the Axe FX III for all these vids Marc. There's a fuzz pedal in the fx chain but I mainly use it to fatten up the notes on the Strat. I'm using a Bogner Ecstasy model in the Axe FX so it's fairly distorted already.
