It's so funny: I've been wondering on exactly that for a while, and now I get a full JNC tutorial. Let me see what I can "think" of next lol

Nice breakdown! Very helpful. One other thing that Quayle does is play a specific number of notes per run. Start with say, nine, and make every phrase nine notes. And then twelve, and so on. Shorter runs are more consistent but sometimes sound contrived. The longer runs make for a more thoughtful and "surprising" endeavor. Woo Hoo!!

Brilliant! I've been working on this TQ idea since the pandemic. 4ish years later and it's almost baked-in but I still find myself working on it every day. It's a great 'connective tissue' concept.

Yeah being able to go into and out of crosspicking fluidly is a very handy skill that this musically useful exercise exploits quite nicely. And it can be easily tweaked so that the picking direction changes when the line gets repeated nevermind scale type & key. Thanks very much for this GREAT lesson!

Just plain awesome, John! So...my hand span isn't like yours for the first 5 to 7 frets. I tried pushing it and developed tendinitis⚡ I'll do what I can to adapt. Good news is you give plenty of good stuff to incorporate with less distance between frets. Keep inspiring us!

Hi John...huge fan of your playing...just one question re: legato...how do you graduate from the Satriani style of legato onto the Brett Garsed (early 90s) style of legato...any thoughts on ideas, approaches, philosophy and exercises? thanks (sorry if I haven't phrased my question well!!)

Mr. Cordy! Would you be able to make this content available in a form of a podcast? I really enjoy your videos, but I find that I don't always need the visual aspect to understand what's going on. Personally it's a lot easier for me to consume this type of slightly longer content when I'm commuting or generally outside, so having these as a podcast feed would be awesome!

@@NowakP so plug in the charger and set it in the cupholder or other seat...why do you have to lock your phone, you're just driving? Just because it's on doesn't mean you have to watch it. I'd also imagine that you have bluetooth in your car, so obviously you'd be playing it over the speakers anyway, and if not, get an auxiliary cable

Lovely tone. I always prefer your playing when the tone is a cleaner. It’s more difficult, but much more rewarding. Just me maybe, but lead tone drenched in overdrive with bucketfuls delay/verb sounds cheap

How do you create your live loops, but then have drums on top? Is it added in post or just removed from the beginning and you're hearing drums the whole time? Do tell!
