Very fitting for this video to be uploaded on Valentine's Day. Mentioning Echo and Narcissus is also fitting for Valentine's Day unfortunately but such is life. Valentine's Day would be more enjoyable, or at least less depressing, for everyone if we all did not define our worth by being in a romantic relationship. Or if we didn't believe that 'if I can just get someone to marry me it'll make me happy for the rest of my life/justify my existence somehow' and focus on loving ourselves even if no one else does romantically then we could all be a bit happier with ourselves. It's certainly more reliable to love ourselves than have someone else love us, we're our own worst enemy and our own best friend. If we need a bit more than just a friend to love us Adam & Eve are just a few key strokes away - the best friends you'll ever meet can be found there ;) #LetsBeOurOwnValentine2

@hieuoan77663 жыл бұрын
No, the gods didn't punish him because he was aro-ace, they punished him because he was arrogant and deemed no one deserving of his beauty. In addition to Echo and Ameinias, he also had dozen of admirers whose hearts he had broken because of his ego, leading to one of them to pray for either Nemesis or Aphrodite to punish him for his cruelty, not for him rejecting their love. In fact, in every myth associated with him, he was always portrayed as an arrogant and cruel man who spurned love because he thought himself as greater than it, a.k.a greater than the gods of love such as Eros and Aphrodite. The same thing also happened with Hippolytus - son of Theseus, who was also seen by many as aro-ace and neglected the worship of Aphrodite in favor of Artemis, and was killed by his father and grandfather as the result. Basically, the morals of these myths aren't that being asexual and aromantic is wrong and needed to be punished by the gods, it's more like a 'just because you don't have romantic and/or sexual feelings toward someone don't mean you get to hate or be cruel to others for having those feelings'... That and don't forget to worship Aphrodite and Eros 'cause love gods can be terrifying when they're mad.
