The version of that story that I always heard was that Zeus was the only one that wasn’t eaten and he gave his father a concoction of wine mixed with mustard to make him vomit up his siblings.

fun fact about the art work Saturn Devouring His Children: it was actually never named by the artist, Goya (scholars just use the name as a reference). it was also painted directly onto the artists walls in his home, along with several other pieces as he was going blind in his late years.

Titans and Titanesses were Gods. Just like Olympians were Gods and Primordials were Gods. Homer, Hesiod, and a load of other ancient Greek storytellers reference them all as Gods several times. People confuse this a lot for some reason. Not all Gods were Titans - but all Titans were Gods.

@@blurb9319 They were a different generation for sure, just as the Primordial Gods (Khaos/Nyx/Gaia/Ouranos/etc) were also a different generation, but they were all Gods. It's a misconception that just because the Titans were called Titans it means they're not Gods. They are both.

Small quick correction: there are two gods named Cronus. The titan you talk about was Kronos (Crow-no-s), titan of the harvest, which makes the sickle make more sense. The other was Cronus (Craw-niss) god of time, this is where we get the Latin root word “Chrono” meaning passing of time.

Well there wasn't much choice. All the titan gods were born from the union of the Earth and Sky (Uranus and Gaia). Thinking of primordial gods as siblings in a human sense doesn't really work.

Same. I held my breath unconsciously when they mentioned Hades thinking they were gonna equate him to the devil or some other such horseshit. Pleasantly surprised they didn't. :) although they did get a couple details wrong if you follow the main version of the myth :) still a great video!

The number of comments saying that he's a Titan and not a god... Guys, please. Titans ARE gods. Olympians are also gods. The only difference is that Titans are pre-Olympian gods, meaning they predate the era and rule of the Olympians.
