As a 70 year old black woman who lived through segregation and jim crow in the deep south. On this day of our emancipation as enslaved peoples, let us rejoice. Thank you, young man, for taking the courage to remind us who we are.❤❤❤❤ Let us not forget!

And just imagine that could have been the last word black men heard before they were lynched.

Absolutely I say this often I personally do not, and will never allow anyone black, white, Indian, Asian, middle eastern etc… Allow anyone to call me this, nor use this demeaning, cruel, degrading words amongst others.😐🫤😐 As a term of; so called endearment.😑

Exactly, that part. So sad and was so disturbing is too many Black folks let the n word roll of their tongues like ain't nothing wrong.

Powerful! Felt this way about the term for decades. We are the only group of people that takes terms or words meant to disrespect, demean, and demoralize us and then want to glamorous and give it power. With that mindset we can't fully evolve as a people.

Thank you!! Well done!! I published a book / an epic poem entitled "That Word," which also addresses this in 2010. "That Word is not your name. That Word is profane." Again, well done! I will share this video. Peace.

Now that…was very powerful 💪🏾. That word needs to die a horrible death. I know I’ve come too far in my life to be called that and to refer to someone else as that. Too many forefathers and foremothers of my race have fought & died because of that word. We shoulda been better by now 😢.

I plan to continue to use it. When and where I grew up, white people used it to call someone an N to remind them they are Black and that being Black was something to be ashamed of. I'm not ashamed of anything. So, I wear the term proudly. Because I am really well educated, with advanced degrees, and a professional career plus with red hair and freckles, white people always like to point me out as a good example. I like to smile in their face and remind them that I'm just another N but I use the full word. I only edit it here because KZbin flags it as problematic. Words only have the power that we give them.

it stirs up alot of mixed feelings for me too...mostly because i am so light complected. I have claimed it as my birthright, like that scene in the movie QUEEN by Alex Haley when she was starving and she says "i am negra" as if to say i am one of you. i belong. its conflicted in me. so many layers. its complicated. 🤐😶‍🌫️😪😔😒😵‍💫🤐

So you'll take the most demeaning word in all of history and lay claim to it because white people labeled you one? Do you know how ridiculous this sounds? Our people died for the same basic things we take for granted today. How about giving them the respect they deserve and stop claiming this dehumanizing word as some claim to legitimatize blackness. This is one word never spoken by me or anyone in my household and never will be.

This is corny and melodramatic. Why put so much effort into the word when the word and its meaning have been transformed to term of endearment in 2024. The meaning of words have always changed over time. Blacks are not the only group to do this. It more about taking your authority back. I personally like the word and plan to continue using it bc now it has positive power. Happy Juneteenth ✌🏾
